Lovely experience at Farang on a Friday night. We ordered various dishes and each bite was savoury and delicious. We ordered 4 small plates and 1 large.
-Miang; prawns on betel leaf. This was amazing.
-Gae Prik; crispy boneless chicken
-Gaeng gari; beef curry - this was a good balance hint of sweet, creamy with the right aromatics. We added the rice and roti
-Crispy Seabream (large dish); this was fantastic with the mint, kaffir, fried shallots and sauces
It is now one of my favourite Thai restaurants. You could tell the chef really knew his flavour palette.
Also ordered the Lemon Drop cocktail and husband ordered Singha beer. The service was great and I appreciated them reviewing the ingredients with each dish that came to the table. We’d dine here again.
If you are expecting traditional Thai street food, this is not you what you want.
The food was not as good as previous times, it took a long time to get the served and the service was not as efficitent.
Delicious Thai street food. Spicy and subtle flavours, Buzzing atmosphere
Best food I have had in a long time and certainly the best Thai food in London. Creative and beautifully presented dishes, delicious flavours and generous portions. Friendly and prompt service as well. Only downside was the acoustics - very noisy unfortunately so hard to hear your friends across the table.
Great evening, food amazing, clever twists on traditional simple food.
Can’t wait to go back.
Have been three times now and enjoyed my meal each time. The food takes me back to my time in Thailand. Delicious. Service is friendly and efficient. Only downside is because of the furniture and decoration it tends to get noisy.
Very tasty food - they have seriously toned down the heat since my last visit when it just opened and now the food is balanced and full of flavour.
The menu is well thought out and the food was incredible. No faf, unpretentious and packed with flavour! Would visit again and definitely recommend.
I absolutely love this place, the food is amazing and the service is always great. Can’t recommend it enough!
Incredible cooking. I was slightly worried at the lack of Thai people when walking in .. but I’m Thai and found the menu very refreshing- fresh ingredients, so well cooked - perfect setting for my birthday ! The chef came out to see who had ordered the chicken starter four times over.Thank you I’ll be back (and I’ve told all my friends).
Lovely food, not too expensive! Only complaint would be that even as someone who enjoys a bit of heat, most of the dishes were very hot, which makes it harder to enjoy the flavour. But maybe this is just Thai food and I'm being a wimp! :)
Best Thai place in the neighbourhood by miles - standout dish was the larb, fish curry and papaya salad also great, but latter on spicy side so avoid if you don’t like chilli.
Only slight miss was chiang mai noodles - good flavour but noodles a bit soggy.
First experienced Ferang at Festival in 2017 & 2018. Loved their food so much we hunted them down and were delighted to find they had a restaurant in London. We travelled from Buckinghamshire and had the Feasting Menu. Wow it was amazing, absolutely delicious, perhaps too much food and slightly rushed. We could have easily spent 3.5 hours munching our way through this culinary delight. £45 so reasonably priced too. So many staff. On arrival there were 7 standing around and being busy. Staff all very attentive and friendly. WE loved it and can not wait to return and bring friends. Ferang have got everything just right. Highly recommend.
It was a delicious. Definitely somewhere to go if you want an authentic Thai restaurant. The dishes are so tasty me and my boyfriend ordered two extra dishes once we had finished. We left feeling very full but very happy.
The best Thai meal I’ve ever had and I’ve spent a fair amount of time in Thailand so full marks. We will be coming back without a doubt.
Let me start by saying that the service is really excellent and the manager dealt with our complaints EXCEPTIONALLY well and incredibly generously (although this was not expected). However, I need to be honest about my impressions about the food...
Farang is NOT a Thai restaurant. I lived in Australia for many years where Thai is kind of their national cuisine and have been to many Thai restaurants in London (several branches of Patara, Kiln, Busaba, etc).
The food at Farang has none of that sour/sweet/salty balance or aromatics or heat that you would expect of Thai food. The food is heavily dominated by a BBQ smoky flavour more akin to cheap Texan (I am terribly sorry to say this, but there is no other way to describe it). Three of of our dishes were like that. They were also very salty. The fourth dish was green curry Cornish mussels... the mussels were not that fresh (they had the typical slightly grainy texture of frozen mussels) and the sauce watery... even the Thai mussels at Belgo (which is a cheap restaurant) manages to be more Thai and definitely a lot fresher.
I went to Farang really wanting to love it... I love Thai food, but did not manage to finish the food and was sickened by so much smoky BBQ flavours. To top it up, they need to improve their wine list... nearly everyone was drinking beer (which I like, but cannot drink), we got the second most expensive white wine (£37), a NZ SB, because it was the safest choice and this particular one they sell (Spy Valley) is not really good.
Finally, Farang supposedly has a "bib gourmand". My partner and I have been to about 20 Michelin starred restaurants in the UK (although we much rather a good non-starred restaurant to be frank), I cannot comprehend how on earth Michelin awarded a "bib gourmand" to this place... there is nothing about the food that would justify this.
Fab service , food was delicious and ambience was good! I recommend the crispy sea bass and roasted kale dishes! #delicious
The starter of wontons was nice; otherwise left a table of food that included beef curry, chiang mai noodles, roti and papaya salad pretty untouched. Wasn’t asked if there was a problem with the food which undoubtably should happen when nothing has been eaten. The main came out before the small plates and the curry came out without the roti which meant it was impossible to eat since it’s so sweet / full of oil / who eats curry without a rice or roti?? The chiang mai noodles had the texture and taste of pot noodle - I’ve been to chiang mai and tried the real thing and this is incredibly disappointing. Papaya salad came out right at the end after asking, this should be something refreshing you pick at throughout the meal, but we needn’t have worried because it was so far from refreshing we couldn’t eat it - swimming in sauce to the point it wasn’t dissimilar to coleslaw. I order this at every Thai and have never had something so rich, it made the curry seem like a mouth freshener. Kind of soggy too. Not sure what the fuss is about with this place. Shouldn’t have booked for valentines either, zero atmosphere / weird decor / Ikea plates
I am absolutely proud of these Farangs making authentic Thai food better than any Thai restaurants in the west.
Great authentic Thai food - tasting menu is really good value for the quality, quantity and range
Fantastic food. Brought flashbacks of Bangkok!
Hard surfaces everywhere make it a bit noisy.
Food was so tasty and plated beautiful it’s hard to ask for more especially on this price level. It’s not a romantic beautiful restaurant but I love the cool vibe.
My favourite London restaurant! Never lets me down, first time taking my 8month baby & was great, fantastic service & incredible food. Few new dishes on the menu which were delicious!
My mates divorce party !
The food was so delicious, would recommend to anyone who loves thai food.
Really nice flavours in the dishes. Favourites are the small dish fried chicken, bettle leaves and beef curry.
A little bit on the expensive side. But good service from staff.
Great food, easy to reach location, excellent service and dog friendly, can't beat
It was excellent ! Food is delicious and the waiters were very kind and nice. A very quiet place.
Absolutely delicious food. First visit, will definitely go back and try new dishes. The seabass was amazing, best i’ve had. Lovely steamed jasmine rice and small plates too. Nice atmosphere and great service. Quite busy, went on a Saturday evening. It is warm and cosy unlike some restaurants that are freezing!
Challenging and interesting food - certainly not the usual Anglo interpretation of Thai. The decor is a little rough and ready but then again, that’s not why people come here.
Would definitely visit again- perhaps on a weekday when it’s quieter
I had a disappointing experience here. I ordered Gai Prik (pepper chicken in Thai) but got hard and dry deep fried chicken. I was hoping for more authentic Thai food but what I got was a poor imitation of what you might get in KFC. The waiter suggested roti as an acompanyment but this was also deep fried and not particularly Thai. I never leave food but left most of it.
My vegetarian companion ordered Tofu and Green papaya salad and was very happy with her food so maybe I was just unlucky in my choices. I also found the service and ambiance fine. The bill however came to £70 which seemed a lot for the quality of food I received.
Fab as always- just wish there was a bit more heating
Really nice place! Great Thai street food! Nice selection of wine! A little bit noisy but all in all a good atmosphere and dining experience
Fusion Thai - was great to try something different...the small plates were amazing!!
Fizzing, fabulous Farang was an entrancing and exotic treat. Spicy, original food and a chat with an old friend over Singhas. What could be better? A top-fun Thai.
Best Thai food I’ve ever had and the service was incredible. We never wanted for anything and we’re never rushed. The beef wonton’s with smoke makrel have been in my dreams since.
An amazing experience, we will be booking them for our wedding. Can’t get better than that!
Lovely food and service, prices OK. Decor (inherited from previous owners) needs a bit of work, and more subdued lighting would help, but don’t let that put you off. Really excellent menu.
I absolutely love Farang, Its definitely one my favourites Thai restaurants in London. The food is fantastic with great options for vegetarians and vegans.
