Just absolutely super
The best Thai food in London bar none. So authentic and full of flavour we just love it! Menu changes regularly with specials and everything is delicious.
Excellent food and service. We loved it and will come back !
Lovely evening. The food was delicious. Portions are large. The food arrives a little haphazardly. Acoustics are not good so it is quite loud for the hard of hearing
Excellent food and great experience so will thoroughly recommend this place.
When we entered the restaurant, the atmosphere was not what we expected - it was empty and the inside did not look like much. However, as the place filled, the atmosphere changed dramatically (it was packed at the end of the evening).
The food we had was some of the best Thai food we've had! Very interesting spice combinations and everything tasted fresh and well balanced. It is not the typical Thai food one gets in London, and the restaurant is about Thai street food. I wonder if it has some Isan influence?
As a group of four, we had four small dishes and two large ones, which was more than enough. One of us is allergic to wheat, so we basically ordered all gluten-free dishes on the menu. All the dishes were excellent, and our three favourites were the Gaeng Massuman Neau (green curry with braised beef cheeks), the Crispy Belly Pork Salad and the Miang.
The great meal was let down a little bit by the service. Our waitress came every few minutes to take our order as soon as we arrived, while we were clearly not ready for ordering, and there were a few simple mistakes, like missing cutlery or serving a bottle of beer without a glass, and trying to take away plates while they still had food on them and we were still picking away at them.
Overall, a great culinary experience and we will come back!
Consistently refreshingly authentic Thai for a Londoner
Food excellent, but the experience somewhat spoiled by very high noise-levels. Waiters difficult to hear and conversation impaired.
This was my second visit to Farang, the first being a couple of months ago, when I was blown away by the excellent food. On this visit the food was very good but not quite as good as before. Some of the dishes we had were the same as on my first visit and some were new to me and in all cases the food was just not quite as zingy and well balanced as previously. However the Miang kham and the fishcakes were wonderful and very much lived up to expectations. As before, service was good (our waitress was lovely) but the noise levels and (dis)comfort of the seating were definite negatives. I would definitely return but will probably choose to first explore other places in a similar price bracket.
The food is excellent if a little bit spicy - the jungle curry was over hot in my view as this masked the flavour. Otherwise very tasty fresh dishes - the salads are particularly good. Buzzy busy atmosphere
Fantastic food and service.
Had the "feast" option and glad we did- all the dishes were fantastic, especially the bream special.
Absolutely fabulous meal and great service. Can’t wait to go back!
A real jewel. Clever, vibrant Thai style cooking. Go there!
We’ve eaten here a number of times and it’s firmly established as our favourite London Thai by a huge margin. Our last experience 3 weeks ago was top notch and the best meal we had here. But this time nothing was as good, so much so that we wondered if the chef has changed. A small and very mild lobster curry was a whopping £16 (and a poor relation to the special version a few weeks ago) the vermicelli noodles with salmon were in an oddly mild creamy sauce. I could go on. I so hope it was just an off night because if this had been my first time I wouldn’t be going back.
The restaurant itself is very nice. Food is decent, could do with more spice and portions are small for value, not street food. Had to wait almost 30 minutes for one of the mains. I would have taken that off the bill. If this place was cheaper would be more appealing. Price would stop me going again.
Fantastic food with amazing flavours - the betel leaves are an absolute must!
Service and food fantastic. We have been waiting for a good restaurant in this area for 37 years!!!! My only criticism is the furniture which is rather institutional.
Excellent food, some of the best Thai food I've ever had.
Consistently outstanding Thai food in casual, relaxed atmosphere, very reasonable prices.
Not your usual Thai eatery, dishes were inventive, tasty and reasonably priced. Didn't get to try all the dishes and can't want to cone back to taste them all.
I’ve been to Farang twice before and this place never disappoints. On this occasion it was a weekend lunch with friends. Still a good atmosphere although not the busy scene on an evening. Food was amazing. Staff very attentive.
Food is spicy and flavoursome but it’s Thai. If you want bland food don’t come here!
The front of house man was not welcoming, he had a table for 4 but I had booked a table for 5. He didn't smile and was off hand!
The food is amazing but not cheap and the restaurant is very noisy.. we had to almost shout at our table in order to speak to each other.
Amazing, food is just packed with flavour been afew times and its consistiently good
We tried the feast (set) menu because everything sounded so good - and it was. There was one long gap between plates but it was a busy Friday night. Really friendly staff - who evidently care about what they do - took great care of us.
After long admiring the aromas coming from Farang we finally visited on Friday evening. We opted for the tasting menu and were not disappointed! A great meal was capped off with a delicious cocktail. The staff were friendly, knowledgable and attentive.
Fourth visit in a month and I'll be back again soon. Quite simply the best Thai in London and head and shoulders above the trendy pretenders to this crown down the road in Shoreditch. Fabulous value for money, splendid menu of interesting and authentic dishes steering clear of the obvious and augmented by wonderful daily specials. Great use of quality ingredients: hoggett, venison etc. Smashing childrens menu too. Short and punchy cocktail list of a very high quality. Best fried chicken I've ever eaten. Can't really praise it highly enough.
This was our second time at Farang, our friends first, and we all loved it. The food is amazing and the staff go out of their way to be helpful without being overbearing. Highly recommended.
tried Farang for my birthday, we were a group of 6 (3 x veg/vegan and 3 x meat eaters) everyone was catered for food-wise and it was the most authentic Thai I've tasted outside of Thailand. The cocktails were top notch too.
A very unique Thai restaurant with brilliant food a convivial atmosphere and delightful staff.
Delicious food at Farang, we opted to try a few dishes between us, all lovely, but stand-outs were the red curry, the jungle curry and the 'miang'.
Delicious as always. Our favourite Thai in London.
This was unfortunately really disappointing. We were a group of 6, traveling to N5 because the restaurant had had a good review in the Guardian, and 5 of us went for the "Feasting Menu" option (the restaurant staff had no problem accommodating our 6th person separately who is vegan). We chose 5 starters, which seemed absolutely fine, but then were quite surprised that for the 8 dish "Feasting" option we had to choose 2 out of 3 main courses, which seemed to be quite restrictive for 5 diners. 3 of us wanted to choose the "extremely hot" King Prawn dish but the waitress warned that unless you were really into extremely spicy food, it would be too hot. We then said to the waitress that some of us did want to try this dish, but were a bit disappointed that we were indeed given a large bowl of this dish (which was nice but truly very spicy, so most of it remained untouched) and 2 other bowls of our other choice, rather than a sampling of all 3 main course choices. We were even more surprised to find that for the pudding, we were given 3 small bowls for the 5 of us - with 5 spoons but no side plates for anyone! When I told the waitress that this didn't look right for the Feasting menu, she just asked if I thought there hadn't been enough food. That was not the point at all; the main and pudding courses were presented to us as if we had ordered a couple of meals to share - this is a far cry from a Thai Feast where 5 diners paying £35pp would be able to sample different flavours and come away feeling like we had sampled most of their menu (which is what this was advertised as). We all agreed that if we had ordered a la carte, we would have each paid a similar amount, and all of us would definitely have sampled more items from their menu.
Delicious, fresh, authentic: I would recommend the spring chicken red curry - the meat was incredibly moist and couldn't get enough of the rich, intense curry.
We had a great meal at Farang with loads for fresh and authentic Thai dishes. The menu is small but there are always specials on offer which we had the duck curry and we always order the whole crispy sea bream. Fiery and full of flavours the food never disappointments and we will be back.
The food is absolutely amazing - but the chairs are so high and uncomfortable - thats the only downside - everything else is top notch!
One of the best Thai restaurants in London just now IMO.
Terrific. Powerful but balanced flavours and very delicious. Much preferred this to Smoking Goat.
I've been to Farang about 4/5 times now and each time it has raised the bar. The food is some of the freshest and tastiest around - with a seriously creative and diverse menu.
If you haven't been already, you're missing out!
Amazing outstanding memorable food. Loved it. Drinks also incredible. Service was only downfall. Took ages to order, apps came before drinks, took ages to get bill. I’ll still go back though because food was sensational.
