We went for their weekend buffet brunch. We have done several other buffets during the pandemic and most restaurants have adjusted well but not this one. It was not a pleasant experience. You could tell the workers serving food were annoyed by it. They were doing the bare minimum. The buffet area is very small so everyone has to walk single file (which I understand) but you can't see what's coming in terms of food and the food was not labeled properly. They were also out of items which is a problem when you have been standing in line for a while to get served. Once you passed an item you couldn't go back unless you did the line again. I actually had to ask the person serving me if I had done something to upset him because I couldn't understand why he was serving me with such an animosity.
Back at the table the service wasn't any better. Our waitress kept disappearing for a long time. She never explained to us that we needed to order certain items through her (she only mentioned when we said those items weren't at the buffet). We asked for salt and pepper because the food was bland and she took 15 mins to bring that. I'm so flabbergasted that at a time when so many restaurants are hurting for business that you would find places with poor service. I'm out because I'm trying to support businesses. At least put a little effort.
Been here a couple times. Love the atmosphere and menu. The service is very slowww but this is not the server-ours was great each time we have been. Each time we have been everything takes a long time. 4 for dinner at 7:30 and it was 2 hours. This is not the first time. I am not sure why the service takes so long -maybe because the place is big??
Server wasn't attentive and food wasn't good
Great experience for my family visiting from out of town
We went close to closing time. Which was weird we were seated but a little rushed. That was something new.
Fantastic happy hour! Great small bites and cocktails for a good price.
10/10 :) One of the best restaurants in DC!!!!
WOW! Thank you, Caroline for your wonderful review and we really appreciate your 10/10 rating!! :) Whoo-hoo!! -Amy
Excellent restaurant I recommended for brunch. The food is excellent.
Enjoyed it. Seemed to have too few servers to accommodate both indoor and outdoor diners.
The Farmers' brand restaurants are among my favorites in Washington, D.C. However, this visit was did not live up to my expections. Farmers and Distillers' new COVID brunch process still needs tweaking. Patrons were asked to stand outside while waiting. Standing outside would have been fine, if not for the cool weather. When I expressed my concern to the host/manager about missing the brunch (our reservation was at 2 pm), he suggested that we order from the menu. We drove to the restaurant for brunch, and I called prior to leaving home to confirm my reservation.
Our party of 3 was finally seated 30 minutes after our reservation time.
Once seated we ordered the buffet, but we were also not made aware that several brunch items that were not found on the buffet line, could be ordered. The buffet stations were not all manned, so there was always wait.
Our faves fried chicken, lasagna, grilled grapefruit, were still delicious, but this experience left a lot to be desired. We will definitely wait awhile before visiting again.
Thank you, CaliGirlNOT for sharing your review with us. I am real sorry to read that our buffet brunch service was not as expected, and sadly this experience didn't really WOW you. :( We appreciate you letting us know, and I would love the chance to connect about your feedback. I will send you a DM with my email address. -Amy
Waiter (Jeffrey) was very rude and dismissive. After asking about some of the brunch options, specifically how patrons were getting their meals, Jeffrey responded to my question saying, “I don’t know anything about that. I don’t know.” At no point in time did he offer to follow up on my question and quite honestly it seemed as though he could care less.
I was shocked F&D is still serving brunch buffet style. Diners must line up around the inside of the restaurant (the spaces between those lined up did NOT seem to be six feet apart), then an employee would but on the plate what you ask for similar to a cafeteria. With the amount of people in the line and in the restaurant dining it doesn’t seem they were following the DC guidelines for how many people can be in a building. I’m so thankful for our server, Benjamin, who understood our concerns and went ABOVE and BEYOND for me and my family by bringing us food family style. He was INCREDIBLE and OUTSTANDING!
We of course chose outside dining for additional safety. With that said, it was very breezy and chilly so heaters would have been nice.
Amazing service and food. Will come back!
The food was great but the service wasn’t as great as it could be. Our server was good but you could tell they were very understaffed at the buffet line. The line grew extremely long and people couldn’t socially distance because there simply weren’t enough people helping to dish the food.
There also isnt info on open table which shows that Sunday morning is all buffet for brunch and not the regular menu. We would have gone at a different time since it’s not worth the buffet price for children.
I hope they can figure out a better configuration as the dining limits are raised. It’s really not the best to have people lined up in the lobby area waiting for a buffet line.
It was awesome.. and the staff was very accommodating and nice 👍🏾
We were tourists. We wanted a nice dinner, but didn't want a place "too fancy" because we wanted our teenagers to be comfortable too. The restaurant is very unique and exciting. We recognized everything on the menu and were able to "experiment" and still be comfortable. The food was great. The steak was perfect. The drinks were perfect, but expensive. We sat outside and out food got cold rather quickly...not their fault. They gave us the bill before serving our food...totally their fault (were they trying to send a message?).
One of the best brunch spots in DC. For the last several years, Farmers and Distillers has been a staple for my wife and I to have brunch. The professionalism of the staff is only surpassed by the quality of the food. The Chef(s) take the time to take simple recipes and elevate them far beyond expectations. Since their re-opening in the new normal of COVID-19, the Farmers and Diatillers' leadership has taken great strides to ensure the safety of the associates and customers. Additional, the Farmers consortium publishes a stauts COVID newsletter as a means of transparency. My wife and I will make every effort to support Farmers and Distillers each week. Keep up the great work. Love the experience because you all love what you do!

Service was good, food and drinks were great, but everything (food and drinks) seemed to come out a little slow.
Food was cold. Service was very slow. Not a good experience
I graduated from graduate school.
The chicken and waffles was amazing.
Hooray! Thanks Arthur for sharing this with us, and we really appreciate it! -Amy
The food and the atmosphere was GREAT! My server wasn't the BEST. But overall food was good. I will say they need to add a kids menu though.
Brunch buffet was awesome! Good safety precautions in place too.
All was great sitting outside.
