We offer an all-day menu of small, larger and sharing plates built around the best seasonal and local ingredients from the land and sea around us – think fresh off the boat Hastings Fish, Pevensey salt marsh lamb, Bexhill beef, Lewes charcuterie, Rye scallops, local Sussex cheeses and veg from a small organic farm in Hailsham.
On top of that, we include some star finds from our friends across the Channel – fiery chorizo, creamy burrata di Puglia, top quality Iberico ham and fine cheeses.
We cook veg in creative ways, with plenty of vegan and vegetarian options alongside meat and fish.
We change our menu regularly and add specials on a daily basis.
All our dishes are designed for sharing, so order a selection for the table and
Been few times and always great food and service. There are always specials, this time a chowder that was delicious.
Great wine list and they are always happy to make recommendations to match food choices.
Fantastic place - highly recommend.
We had two v pleasant suppers during our stay in St Leonard’s, a great neighbourhood restaurant with friendly service
Great service , Lovely choice of Food and Wine .Very enjoyable 👍
Delicious and huge Sunday lunch. Cooked to perfection and albeit a massive yorkshire pudding - it still managed to be light and fluffy. One of my favourite places to eat. There was a table of 16 on the day, but we were still served very quickly.
Great food with a lovely ambiance and attentive waiters.
Without a doubt our favourite place to eat in St Leonard’s. Everything about this place was great, including the price. Wonderful organic wine and delicious locally sourced food. Robbie the waiter was great and recommended some dishes - try the courgette flowers and lamb chops! Will most definitely come back if we ever pass through St Leonard’s to try their Sunday roast and their lunch menu
Food was tasty but luke warm. (Aubergine Tagine)
Staff made no attempt to check whether the food served was ok or rectify this when it came to settling up. Very poor experience. It used to be very good.
As this was a special occasion we won’t be back.
I was really impressed with the quality and service. The waitress was super friendly and knowledgeable about the wine and food. There were lots of gluten free options. Portions were also generous. I had a taste of everyone's food and it was all superb! My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Amazing Sunday dinner! We had the whole lamb shoulder for 5 people which was delicious. Could easily feed 2 more people. Extremely well cooked meat, gorgeous vegetables and huge Yorkshire puddings. Great place to go with the family. Booking highly recommended.
Positive: The place looks nice with a lovely lively mood. Menu is great and made with local produce. Negative: We waited one and a half hour for our food and the white wine came warm! We found the food quite average, for example courgette flowers stuffed with goat cheese, wonderful idea but the batter was thick and dry and the baby courgette was raw.. unfortunately not pleasant to eat. Salad came far too salty and the sausages part of the meat platter were dry and not that nice. Service was not that great either. Unfortunately we would not recommend it to other people.
Popular restaurant. Nice fllocbut rather limited menu.
Interesting food and very cosy place.
Great food. Great staff. Advice given on the amount of dishes needed which was spot on.
Will definitely be back!
Good place to catch up with an old friend. I hadn’t realised that the only choices at Friday lunchtimes was a fixed tapas-type menu. Slightly disappointed
Loved it so much I booked a table for the next night when half way through my meal
Blew my mind. It was full of amazing wines and the menu was interesting, varied and delicious. The atmosphere had warmth and charm.
What a lovely little restaurant! Excellent food (the cockle popcorn was incredible!) they have non-alcoholic beer!! Really lovely evening was had
Delicious, fresh local produce, lovingly and authentically prepared. Eveything… just perfect!
Flavourful selection of veggie tasting plates, extensive biodynamic wine list, bit pricey overall but a pleasant experience.
Feckin delicious GO!
Birthday dinner for my daughters 20th - delicious food & wine and very friendly service
Wonderful food - we had 6 tapas dishes between the two of us on our wedding anniversary and each one was delicious. On the hottest day of the year we would have appreciated air-conditioning and chilled water, but the door was open and 3 dishes plus a glass of wine for £12.50 is excellent value.
Lovely setting. Felt very continental. Food was lovely. Service was very good. Would not hesitate to recommend to a friend!
Very welcoming staff who took the trouble to provide us with an amazing Sunday lunch even though we were slightly after the end of lunch service. Food was amazing,
What a fantastic little place! We stumbled upon it on the way from St Leonards train station and knew we had to visit it. Not only we dined there once but ended up having 2 dinners during our 3-days long trip. Delicious, seasonal food, lovely service, cosy interior (great Spotify playlist!) and an extensive wine menu. What a gem!
Starter was amazing. Roast was good but I had high hopes. Overall fantastic meal. Couldn't recommend this higher
Wow incredible food and the service was second to none... all the staff really knowledgeable about the food and wine, I have read reviews of people complaining about the price being London prices in St.Leonards all I can say is when you pay for a dining experience that good the price is more than fair, no restaurant like it in the area, cannot wait to go back!
Farmyard is a little jewel of a restaurant in Hastings - the food is excellent - the staff are attentive and always smiling giving the restaurant a great ambience and feel —- Loved it!!
Had been really looking forward to eating here having heard good things about it, locally sourced food/sustainable/interesting wine list etc. So much for the Concept, our visit was a huge disappointment. On the surface it looks good, interesting menu, nice ambience, friendly enthusiastic wait staff. But the food we had was cooked & presented without a smidgen of love, care or attention. Including a plate of almost-inedible overcooked lamb chops and a plate of roasted-veg-on-pea slop. A triumph of marketing concept over food, won’t be going back.
Enjoyable evening. Had a limited menu due to a late delivery but the specials were good. Will go again for the sharing platter!
Our 3rd meal at Farmyard, always 10/10. Added bonus of being open on a Monday whilst everyone else is closed.
I heard good things about Farmyard, and was really pleased with the look and feel of the place, but was rather disappointed in our rather bland food. I had the lamb chops and my partner the skirt steak, but we both felt our dishes lacked depth of flavour. The quality of the produce was spot on, but the lack of seasoning a bit strange, or was that the point?
We also felt the wine selection, although extensive, was rather expensive, giving you little choice under the £35 a bottle mark.
This is the second time we've visited the restaurant in a week. On both occasions, we were met by courteous, friendly and welcoming staff.
The ambience is great, with an excellent selection of music and really stylish decor.
The staff have a great knowledge of the food and the drinks, and offered us a taster to help us choose our wine.
The food was excellent, especially the Mussels in sherry etc and the ribeye steak. The only criticism is the aubergine dip was too finely purified, rather than mashed.
The Eton mess with the brown sugar meringues was to die for!!!
I have no hesitation in recommending it, and my two children, who live and work in London, and are real foodies, loved it too.
A really lovely independent restaurant and wine bar with a great range of fresh local fish, plus lots of really creative dishes. Steak tartare, huge oysters and the cheese board all amazing, lamb chops looked epic too. Not super cheap, but I think really good value for what you're getting with top local produce and amazing carefully sourced wines. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
Two quibbles: my partner ordered bone marrow with his beef skirt which wasn't delivered with the main and took at least ten minutes to arrive after reminding the wait staff. The buttered boiled cabbage was not the sort of spring greens expected when ordering and they were returned and not charged for. However, both my lamp chops and my partner's beef were very tender, and my harissa beans very tasty. We shared a starter of salt cod brandade crostini, no room for pudding!
What a treat! Our first time at Farmyard and certainly won't be our last. Great ambiance, attentive service, immense wine and beer selection and every dish was absolutely on point. Well deserved 10/10.
Stick with mains as these were really good. Fantastic chips. Starters were nice but were straight from the fridge which affected your ability to taste the flavours . Wine was expensive for the quality. Staff really friendly and a nice relaxed ambience. Pretty good overall.
Great food and wine, a friendly atmosphere & good service.
Always relaxing, delicious and special. Sunday roast is excellent and the cauliflower cheese is heavenly. Definitely worth a visit any day of the week.
Farmyard is a fabulous place for popping in for a drink or sampling the fantastic food. We had lunch on Sunday and think it was one of the best Sunday lunches I've had- great ingredients, superbly cooked and presented and a super wine list - and the staff are lovely 😀
