Friday and Saturday 12 - 2.30 and 5.30 - 10
Smart & comfortable in busy street - view of shops opposite - arrived early so quiet at first , comfortably full later. food good & well presented ; lunchtime so alcohol limited but house carafe good flavour starters & main courses showed attention to detail. Likely to return when in that part of city
This was my fourth or fifth meal at Farmyard and it has never disappointed me. The menu is short, but changes fairly frequently. We kicked off with a delicious cocktail, shared several small bites to start. the salt cod croquettes were fabulous, not too salty. My daughter and I then had sea bream with peas and broad beans, while my husband had hake with bacon, cream and clams. My only slight disappointment were the chips, which rank amongst the best I have ever eaten. They were still good on this visit, but not quite as good as previously. Desserts excellent and fresh mint tea to round things off. Highly recommended
Enjoyed a delicious birthday meal on a busy Saturday night. Very helpful and friendly staff, delicious and interesting food. Lively, but not too noisy, atmosphere. And the bill was a pleasant surprise! Yes
It was our first visit to the Farmyard, and we were not disappointed. There were four in our party; We each chose something different from the menu and all agreed that the food was delicious. It was not cheap, as sides had to be ordered separately, but then again I have eaten in far more expensive restaurants and not been served such high quality food. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating and we would definitely go back.
The quality of the food and the service were excellent. some of the portions were a bit mean but the flavour and quality almost made up for it. The serving staff were some the best we've seen and despite being quite busy the food arrived quickly and very well presented. Would thoroughly recommend it for a special meal.
the menu is creative the food well presented and very tasty. I had the duck to start then the lamb both delicious. attentive staff ensuring your needs are met. tables are a little cramped but it wasn't a huge problem. enjoyed the experience of this reasonably priced. restaurant.
Excellent food and ambience - we've eaten here three times now and not had a poor dish yet. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant.
The food is imply the best in Norfolk - imaginative, amazing ingredients and just so darn tasty. We went as a group of four and all of us tasted each others with awe and explosions of taste within our heads. Our waitress was fun and helpful, the meal relaxed and not hurried. I cannot recommend this place more and wish I lived in Norwich and could eat there every week!
Excellent meal once again. I had the duck which was superb.
Fantastic service, great food.
Been 8 times and never had any complaints. Fantastic food. Absolutely delicious.
Excellent lunch, fresh and tasty food, interesting and attractive set lunch menu. Very attentive but unobtrusive service, knowledgeable waitress and good presentation.
I can't fault it and can't wait to dine there again.
We had the cote du beouf which was excellent as was the Vietnamese slaw, so good we had a second. Over all the meal was great the menu is small but everything was of a very high standard.
What a fantastic introduction to dining in Norwich. The service was attentive and swift without being oppressive, whilst the food was superb, beautifully presented and a mix of subtle and unusual flavour combinations which made our tastebuds sing. Robin B Epsom
The food was amazing but from the get-go we felt like we were trying to be rushed out. We were approached immediately and had to ask for time to look at the menu. Then the starters came within 5 minutes and we swept up the moment we’d put our forks down. Following that the main came straight away with no breather and it got to a point where I had to ask for some time before they brought the desserts out. It just felt like we were being pressured constantly and that we were being rushed out for the next table even though the restaurant stayed half empty the entire time we were there. Aside from that it was a good experience
The set menu was very good value at £19 for 3 courses or £12 for two. The menu was short but eclectic and adventurous, everything we had was delicious. Portion sizes are small, but that's fine. Wine list was good, too - the local Norfolk Bacchus at £30 a bottle was a bargain.
As always great service & food was fresh and delicious 😋
All staff seemed unhappy. Even guys in the kitchen looked like they didn’t want to be there. Had to chase for someone to take our drinks order. The restaurant seemed very noisy but without a happy vibe. Food wasn’t awful, just not memorable. I think had the staff managed to crack a smile now and again it would have made the whole evening more enjoyable. With so many places to eat in Norwich, restaurants can’t afford to have a bad day. I doubt I will visit again. Sorry!
We enjoyed the food very much, but we were out for a romantic dinner, and to be honest, we couldn’t hear ourselves think.
There was a hen party and another table of 8, so this night may have been an exception.
We would return with friends or for lunch, but not for a cosy dinner.
Tables were tiny, we were juggling items to make room for food that arrived.
If you are used to A La Carte dining, then you will not need the side each that they recommend.
2 courses chosen and eaten within an hour.
I thought the service was good but everything was quite overpriced. I eat small portions but even after 3 courses and a huge delicious dessert I was still hungry.
Starter and main lovely (sardines and collar of pork). I had cheese from the sweet menu, but the bread that came with it was too thick and sweet. My friend had treacle tart and said it was too sweet.
Good find. Recently opened restaurant with welcoming approach. Good service with different menu from the norm with well presented food. Enjoyed the experience
A friends get together, had a really lovely lunch. Nicely put together menu options and really good value. Lovely food, will return.
First day time here for an evening meal. Really enjoyed the whole experience! Helpful waitress , not over bearing. Great food where the chef has the confidence to choose for you when asked. Relaxed atmosphere, dress up or dress down this place will suit, and you don't feel like your sitting in a goldfish bowl as you would at Benedicts. On that note, would recommend Farmyard over the aforementioned place anytime . Nothing pretentious here , great food, great atmosphere and not bad prices either.
My friend and I are ‘ ladies that lunch’ and this was our second visit. It suits us as a set price 2/3 course menu is on offer. Whilst we are always offered side dishes the quantities served are enough for us. I must add we are not big eaters.
It is great to be able to watch the chefs at work and to know they behind the scenes is as clean as the front of house!
Love the atmosphere, love the attentive staff and will return again.
Also looking forward to trying the dial house!
A lovely restaurant with a charming, bubbly vibe. Amazing menu with local produce. Outstanding flavour and you can watch the chefs hard at work. Lots of variety.
Lovely choices on the menu which are imaginative and a high standard of waiting staff. Great to be able to watch the chefs in the kitchen too. The acoustics make it quite noisy but it's all friendly banter so perfectly bearable. Certainly worth being a regular here as the menu changes fairly often although there are always a few old favourites.
The Farmyard has become one of our fave places to eat. We've been 4 times now.
On this occasion, we took along our cousin who, prior to moving to England, was an award winning chef in Canberra. He was very impressed with the whole offering from Andrew and his team.
The lunch menu is such good value and the food is exquisite. The open kitchen is fun and the staff are all friendly and committed to their job. We love the happy efficient service and would recommend The Farmyard to anyone who's looking for lunch with a difference.
The news that Andrew and Hannah are taking over the Dial House is Reepham is very exciting and we can't wait to go over and see what they're doing with the place.
The food was fantastic with helpful chatty staff and a fantastic lively atmosphere. Would thoroughly recommend this as one of my favourite restaurants
Greeting and service was good, but not asked if we OK with food. We had the Cote de Boeuf but it was not rested and the fat had not rendered down enough, it spoilt our meal. We Explained the issue to server but no explanation was Given or allowance made.
Must do better, we may be back at some point to try again.
A great time evening, wonderful food with cheerful knowledgeable
Good company too.
Amazing food and fabulous service. The food looked as good as it tasted and that’s saying something. We cannot wait to go back again, please try this place if you haven’t already, I promise you won’t regret it x
Superb food, service and ambience. I often recommend to friends and family that they give Farmyard a go if they want a top notch meal out in Norwich. Keep it up!
Warm and friendly welcome.Food very interesting and delicious.Only small criticism would be that once plates were cleared the next course was on the table in a flash with no time to pause between courses.
We sat near the kitchen and could see the food being prepared, which was entertaining. There was a good atmosphere, service was attentive but not intrusive, and the food was excellent - both for the meat-eater and the vegetarian
I love the Farmyard s quirky interior and the intimate feel of the place . The service is excellent and the food just an amazing experience. I adore the home made black pudding starter dish and wish I could take some home ! Watching the care and dedication of the chefs at work made me realise my meal would be exceptional and it was ..
Really enjoyed eating here again, just as good. Good interesting ingredients which combine fantastically well.
Main course was very tasty but very small portion size. Given that I am a very small female with a small appetite I would imagine that a man would not find this portion size sufficient. We did order sides too.
Dessert was not good. It should have come with coffee ice-cream and they had run out so we had vanilla. It looked like something a toddler had put together quite frankly and the ice-cream was very standard.
All 4 of us really enjoyed food, wine and had a lovely evening. Will be booking again.
3rd visit with a small family group to this excellent restaurant. Very high quality cooking in elegant understated setting. For a really lovely lunch I think it's fantastic value. Back soon !
