Set in a sprawling industrial relic of Manchester’s past and deep into the Northern Quarter. Favelas defines contrast. With one foot set firmly in South America and another in the industrial revolution, there’s no subtlety to Manchester’s iconic past. Broad steel columns, original floorboards and antique machinery are just a few features still in use.

Using the building’s original lay out, several spaces have been individually crafted, each with its own style. From our traditional Brazilian designed dining rooms to our dedicated cocktail bar and not to mention the infamous rainforest canopy dance floor.

Our head chef, Austin Fletcher, has curated the menu after months of exploration and sampling, bringing back home the flavours and vibrancy of his travels in South America. Clearly reflected in the dishes is the incredible diversity & multi-cultural history of Brazil, with each dish having a unique back story to its creation.

Absolutely fantastic service, great food and a really lovely atmosphere. Wide range of vegetarian options and all cooked perfectly. Jalapeño poppers are the best things ever! Also, cocktails which weren't even on the menu all as delicious as each other. Perfect celebration meal out.

Really nice food and friendly and helpful waiter service. However we were pretty much the only people in the bar around 9pm and yet the bar staff turned the music up to a ridiculously high level so that we had to move to the other end of the bar. It's the second time that I have seen this happen...seems like the bar staff were more interested in entertaining themselves than keeping customers happy. We did ask them to turn it down but they didn't bother. A shame as it does put me off going back.

We were concerned when Favelas phoned to ask us to go earlier as kitchen was closing but the food and service were very good.
Atmosphere good too apart from being a bit too dark for eating. All in all a lovely evening.

We were a group of 7 work colleagues. Arrived at 3.30pm on a Friday, the restaurant was very quiet, but that was fine. We were served quickly, the food was of great quality and good sized portions. We were able to use our taster card which was a reall added bonus.

Would definetly recommend this restaurant and will tell all our colleagues and friends.

On arriving even though we had booked ahead they seemed not to be prepared for us at all and we ended up having to wait for a table. The staff were totally preoccupied with the day of the dead event that was going on that night and were all having or had makeup applied. Service was lethargic at best and haphazard at worst. They didn’t have the house red in but offered the next wine and full price instead of matching the house price, as I would have expected. The wine and two glasses were then plonked unceremoniously on our table, unopened!! The table was sticky and the cutlery and glassware were grubby. All in all not the experience we were expecting when you consider how polished the experience in Nando’s (I appreciate it’s not a like for like comparison!) is and at a better price too. Wouldn’t go again and wouldn’t recommend Flavela’s to anyone. Polish up your act and get the staff so me customer care training!! The food was passable at best.

The food was good when it arrived. Unfortunately, their kitchen was very busy due to Deliveroo, JustEat etc. so we had a 45 minute wait for food, even though the restaurant itself wasn’t very busy. Some of the dishes weren’t available. The waiter tried his best in the circumstances but there was a bit of confusion about the drinks deals and availability of food. The restaurant also seemed to have had difficult receiving the booking information. Not sure whether it was a process failure on their part or OpenTable’s. Suggestions for improvement: 1) Don’t over-commit on delivery services, 2) Make the food and drinks offers and availability very clear and visible (including signage), 3) Tighten up the processes.

We waited 45 minutes for our starter while sipping a truly terrible cocktail. The main meal was so slow arriving we were on the verge of walking out. The staff were very apologetic but the whole evening was so disappointing. We will not be returning.

We tried the restaurant as we had a half price offer, the food was good and the service was friendly although it did take a while to be served and the starter arrived with the mains
I would probably go back again but would not be happy to pay full price for the steak would order something else, as the steak was overcooked compared to my request

We had a toddler with our group that had been specified on the "Special Request" section of the booking form. However, we were not told we would need to leave at 2100hrs due to licensing for serving food not being valid past this time. We had even been allowed to order a jug of sangria at 2150hrs.

We were then told in no uncertain terms we had to finish and leave even though we had just been served our final drinks before we were leaving. We felt extremely pressurised to leave and it was extremely uncomfortable. There were no other diners in our area and we had been there since 1930hrs.

The food was great and so was the service. But being pressured to leave with no notice was really awkward.
