Always one of our favorite stops before and after a Sox Game. A little disappointed in the lack of excitement for the games this weekend.
John the bartender was awesome! So friendly, accommodating, and down-to-earth!
We were eating here before the Billy Joel concert. We were seated immediately. The food was terrific. We ordered meatball, calamari, crab cake and wing appetizer. I tried the calamari and crab cake. Both delicious! My wife shared the steak tip entree with her friend. It was exceptional! The mash tasted like moms and green beans were perfect.
It was super busy so drinks took longer than typical but not an issue for us. My only suggestion is that my wife and Her friend could have used an extra plate or the kitchen can split the entree on 2 plates.
Thanks great time before the concert
Went here before a concert at Fenway. Easy and close to the venue. Drinks were good and service was good at first but then as it got more crowded closer to the show it was difficult to get our Waite for drinks or anything we needed. He was very busy and bar was slow. (Not his fault did not seem to have enough people working) not sure how they couldn’t know it would be packed before the show! They brought all our food but forgot my husbands hamburger. Showed up 10 minutes later with it, obviously forgo it as it was so rare he could not eat most of it, but we could not find the waiter to get another one. Would go back but maybe on a less busy night.
Everything was good, but it was SO LOUD! I get that before a show at Fenway, it’s going to be raucous, but the loud music just makes everybody talk louder. You can’t really decipher what the music is anyway; it just sounds like very loud base. Then everyone has to yell over it. Very hard to have any kind of conversation. But the food was good and even though she was slammed, our server did a good job.
It was a great experience right before a Sox game. Our server Kate was AMAZING. She was attentive and the whole evening was great. Drinks and food were awesome, fast service and a quick walk over to Fenway. We will definitely be back!
Great service, great atmosphere. Pineapple Chicken sandwich is excellent.
Fenway Johnnie's is close to Fenway park, as you likely are aware, and becomes a gathering – and drinking – place for folks prior to events at the park. We were there to eat dinner before heading over to a Phish show, and it was so loud in there that even at our table we couldn't really carry on a conversation. Our waiter was amazingly efficient and, despite it being busy, we never waited for anything. Food was exactly what you'd expect. Overall it was fine.
We expected it to be loud in there, but it was so far beyond our expectations that we're still talking about it. Easily 90dB in there, and peaked at 95dB (as measured by my iPhone). Those are serious volume levels!
We stopped in to pregame before a Sox game. They didn’t push us along in order to turn the table. The service was excellent.
We had dinner before a Sox game and the food and drinks were delicious, wait staff was wonderful, and overall a great vibe!
Standard bar food. Service was great. Good before a red sox game
I have been in the restaurant industry for several years so I have a high understanding and patience for when places are busy. However I went here with friends before the Ref Sox game and expected it to be busy. But there was one waitress managing several large tables and us. She was very busy but it wasn’t her fault. They were severely understaffed, all the servers were weeded. It took 40 minutes to get our drinks from the bar leaving me to think the bar was very understaffed as well. We didn’t have a chance to order multiple rounds. Our food took an hour which was fine expect the appetizers came with the meal which we didn’t want. The table to our right sat for 20 minutes before a server came over. The table to the left of us sat after us and got their food and drinks before us (however their food came before their drinks). Overall I understand the restaurant is busy before a game but being understaffed is unacceptable and they should have sat the customers according to what the staff could handle. Our server did the best she could. But it was all chaos and don’t recommend.
Waited one hour for drinks, then half them did not arrive at all. Waitress never came back to take order, we had to ask two other employees to flag her down. Food was horrible, half food was missing crucial ingredients ( swordfish BLT had no bacon), never again, much better options around Fenway area, we were one hour late for game because of this horrible experience!
Food was not great. Came back later to watch hockey game - sat at a table for more than 1 hour. No one came by ti offer us a drink.
Staff was great as was the service, beers and food. Great place to go before, during or after the game or show.
Eh not bad
Great atmosphere, great food. I have never had fries with arugula on them. They were awesome. Service was outstanding considering only one person running the bar and tables.
We went before the Red Sox game last Saturday night. We had a reservation and were seated right away. Our waitress was excellent. It was a very energetic crowd and she had to squeeze through small gaps in groups hanging at the bar. All with a smile on her face. The food was very good. I think that the waitress really made it a great experience for us.
Food was good but service was excellent ... location to Fenway Park was fabulous
Great find for before the baseball game. Our whole group enjoyed themselves.
Got a last minute reservation here before a Sunday Sox game... initially bummed that we could only get brunch BUT the avocado toast, “breakfast burger” and chips/guac were delish! Seated by the band who were great but LOUD! 1/2 block from Gate A!
In town for sox game. good service, good food. plenty of tv's prior to game time.
Able to make a reservation which got us right in coming from out of town. Will be
Reuben sandwich had more bread than pastrami. Overall very small portions but the sandwich looked pathetic.
Good food, fun atmosphere, conveniently located for a Sox game
We had lunch and cocktails at Fenway Johnnies before a concert at Fenway. Place was extreme busy but we were lucky to have reservations. Food was good, most of the group stuck to beer, and prices were good. Serve for how busy it was was also good. Would go back to hang out before or after a Sox game.
Service was great, food was great, price was great!
Appetizers portion was small, my salmon was raw and cold in the center and I’ve had much better truffle fries elsewhere. Overall it wasn’t bad, but i wouldn’t go back.
Went before the Billy Joel concert. Excellent location and easy to find!
Very loud but that's to be expected for this type of restaurant. The food was extremely disappointing. I had fish and chips and the fish was rubbery. My wife has a salad that was not good at all. We asked for additional dressing and tartar sauce but they never delivered.
To be fair it was before a Billy Joel concert and very busy but being where they are they should be prepared for that.
We ate here before the Buffett show at Fenway; we were thrilled that we were able to make reservations because many of the restaurants in the area do not take them the night of a show. So there was no waiting for us which was great.
Our server was very, very busy; it seemed she was the only one for a pretty crowded room, so she didn’t always get back to us as promptly as we would have liked, but she was trying very hard and we had given ourselves plenty of time.
The food was very good pub food.
We went to Fenway Johnnie's before a concert at Fenway. We got there a couple hours before, the reservation helped get us right in. Food was decent, overall we had a good experience and would go back. It's a convenient meet up spot outside of Fenway for any event.
We ordered our lunch and then was told that they didn’t have any cooks! We had to go to a different place
