Fire Tower Restaurant & Tavern
The restaurant is named after the iconic fire tower that sits atop Stratton Mountain where multi generations of skiers and riders made the hike to the summit.
Nestled in the heart of Stratton Village, whet your appetite with Fire Tower Shrimp, our famous Ahi Nachos or a delicious salad. For dinner we feature Barbeque Quail over Thai curry slaw, Mushrooms & Pappardelle Pasta made with locally forged mushrooms, & fresh fish catch of the day.
Combining the spirit of a traditional tavern with upscale modern materials we take great pride in our unique bar design.
We offer Vermont craft beer and carefully curated cocktail selections.
Food was terrible. Also, menu had an entree that was incorrectly described (said grilled, when in fact it was breaded & fried).
Service was good but would never go back again.
Unfortunately a disappointing evening. We eat here regularly and this time, we’re bringing friends. First off, the way the reservations are handled are ridiculous. No wonder reservations need to be made weeks in advance. We were a party of 6 and we got sat in a booth. We’re 6 adults and we’re quite squished. We asked to be moved to a larger table in the back. Initially They didn’t want to sit us there because they were holding this table for a reservation that was coming in two hours later. A bit absurd! We told them we would be gone in an hour and 45 minutes, so they sat us. Our server was a nice young women, but really didn’t seem 100% on task. There were many items crossed off the menu that they ran out of, including chicken protein for a salad. I overheard the waitress tell another table they were closing for a few weeks and they weren’t re opening till Thanksgiving. That’s not an excuse! I don’t make reservations weeks in advance and bring family to a nice restaurant to only have a limited menu available. Two ppl in our party had sweet potato fries with their meal that were un eatable. It was mentioned to the server and they immediately removed these meals from our bill. This was not expected, but we appreciated the gesture and and attention to the dislike. By the end of our meal we all started to smell marijuana which was coming from the back of the restaurant, where we believe the kitchen was. All in all, our dinner was a disappointment and I do t k ow I’ll will trying to be making reservations here through the ski season.
Thank you for visiting regularly. Columbus weekend is as busy as a winter weekend. You visited on Sunday, our last day until Thanksgiving and this presents challenges for us. It's not an excuse but it is a challenge. The booths are industry standard made for six people and your table was ready when you arrived for your reservation. New staff joined after Labor Day. Our side exit door was opened and pedestrians gather/walk by is the only explanation for any smells. I was at the restaurant.
The service was very slow unfortunately because the ambiance is nice. Our appetizers came out and then our meal took almost 45 minutes to come out after our appetizers. We asked our server twice about our meal and she did not seem very concerned that we had been waiting so long and she did not do a good job following up to make sure our meal came. It was very frustrating as it wasn't that busy.
GinaF Sorry we were a little slow. You sat in our dining room which seats 68. On the other side of our restaurant is is the bar, tavern, lounge and patio that seats 93. Saturday of Columbus weekend was harvest/brewfeast at Stratton. We were quite busy.
Mussels were very good and the tuna appetizer was tasty. 3 of us got the duck and it was good albeit a bit dry. Our server was good but just seemed a bit overwhelmed because it was quite busy. Only negative is there are very few choices on entree menu. All 4 of us were looking forward to the seiner schnitzel or the veal chop but both were taken off menu.
Never disappoints. The bartender was particularly attentive and friendly.
Nicely done at Fire Tower. Good food and ample portions.
Dish was very good, but why would you put sauce on shoestring fries.
Salmon and Fish of the Day, Red Snapper, were wonderful!
Excellent ambience. Quiet in the main dining room.
Nice menu and excellent service.
Limited parking and would benefit by adding additional handicapped spots.
Hi Bruce Thank you for the 5 Stars. I'm an independent owner and the resort controls the parking. I wish we had more parking too. Thanks for visiting. Peter - owner
Enjoyed our evening here - would definitely recommend this restaurant
As always, the staff is lovely here and the food is delicious.
Always a great dining experience at Fire Tower. The owners are dedicated and the staff feel like family. The vibe is great in the bar area and the outdoor seating makes you the envy of village pedestrians. Cheers, we’ll see you soon.
Rachel was great. She took care of our every need and kept the Bourbon flowing..
Hi JasonA Thanks for the 5 Stars and we agree Rachel is great :)
My husband and I had a very nice dinner outside on the patio. The service was excellent and the food was very good. I enjoyed the coconut veggie rice bowl with added shrimp:).
Thanks for the 5 stars Pennyk. Our timber framed patio is a guest favorite to dine
Waiter was excellent. This was a Saturday night. Not many diners. As we were seated, the diners at our neighboring table actually walked out of the restaurant leaving their full meals on the table. Several menu items were not available. The deep fried duck was a winner, as were the mussels. The deep fried shrimp good, but the Asian noodles were the worst one could imagine. The snapper special was over cooked and tough. My Belvedere vodka martini had an odd taste to it and I never got my shaker ice on the side. The “fresh” basil in the watermelon margarita was black from age, not very appealing. I realize it is somewhat off season, but if they are to put out a dining experience and meal to return for, that was not going to make it. Don’t like giving a bad review as I know how difficult running a restaurant is, but I also think it important to let management know the experience they were responsible for and hopefully the feedback will help them to improve their restaurant moving forward.
Thank you for visiting and enjoying 3 of 4 meals. Sorry that the fish was overcooked. You enjoyed our Shrimp dish but requested the sauce on the side. The sauce enhances the noodles in the dish but you are not the first person that did not enjoy the noodles. We will look to change out the noodles. I spoke into detail with your server. He covered all the tables in your area and confirmed that no one complained as they left the restaurant. I'm at a loss on why a martini would have an odd taste.
Great food, great service.
We have been going there for years but they had quite a bit of trouble there on Friday July 5th. It took 25 minutes to take our order and over and hour before the appetizers came out. Apparently they were extremely short staffed in Kitchen. The two tables to the right of us walked out. The two tables to the left of us were joking about sharing the food if it ever came out. Wait staff was very apologetic and they comped our appetizers and drinks. I hope this was an anomaly but I will certainly scan the reviews before we head back to make sure problem was corrected.
Thank you for supporting us over the years. July 5th was fireworks night at the mountain. You probably noticed how busy we were. This is our sixth season so we have six years of data on how many guests we serve on the night of the fireworks. We served twice as many guests as previous years. Our challenge was not staffing but we obviously could have used more staff but 100's of guests arrived btw 6:15 and 7:30 to dine before the fireworks. Thank you for you support. It was an anomaly :)
We love the Fire Tower. Kitchen was a bit slow so it too a bit to get food but other than that everything was great!!

Firetower is reliably tasty and pleasant. Nice to see a few seasonal changes on the menu, while keeping some of the favorites.
Our server, Lara, is always pleasant and on top of anything we need.
be sure to make reservations, because Firetower is always busy!
There was a large and very noisy wedding party standing right at the entrance. They remained there through most of our meal. It made our review less than outstanding. The food and service were fantastic.
Fire Tower is a very nice restaurant. We enjoyed our time but unfortunately we were disappointed in the Mahi Mahi Dinner Special. The portion was small and the fish was over cooked. We have always enjoyed dinner here in the past.
Pleasant lively atmosphere - conducive to conversation - food variety and quality above average. Never disappointed!
Nice variety on the menu. Steak not grade A cut.
It took over an hour to get our food. Server was very nice but it was painfully slow. Food was good but expensive. They obviously can get away with it being one of the few restaurants on property at Stratton mountain.
Hello SML17 I do not know why your meal took so long. We host 300 to 500 guests on our busy days and rarely do we receive slow service reviews but we're not perfect. Your comment "They obviously can get away with it" is unfair. We care very much about our service. I'm sorry your service was slow and thank you for your 4 stars for our food. Peter - owner
The food was good but a little pricey. The duck was very delicious and the lobster Mac was superb!
Great time. Enjoyed the food and time with family. Look forward to returning next season.
The food was delicious, and I highly recommend the ahi tuna nachos, but the main dishes were a bit high priced for the size. It was also super noisy, but that is what you get for ski season! Decent food for a ski mountain if you can handle the hectic ambiance and high prices.
Spectacular food! Mussels for appetizer and pasta for dinner outstanding quality served by amazing waiter.
It was a busy ski slope side restaurant that serves good food and service was quick
Nice restaurant that we enjoyed overall. Just be sure to make a reservation on opentable regardless of your party’s size. Their web site says they will take reservations for 8 or more so we didn’t make one and thought we would show up and try our luck being generally quiet in the area midweek. When we arrived they asked if we had reservations but we said since only four of us we didn’t make one. We had to show them their comment on their website which they were perplexed by. They said they were not sure if they could fit us in as full but if we waited we may get in. We decided to wait but while doing so went on opentable and was able to choose from a few open slots and get a reservation within 15 minutes. So our initial experience was a little frustrating but also kind of funny in an odd way. After that everything was fine with the atmosphere, food and service all good.
Everything was great except when I got home I was charged for beers no one ordered. I would suggest looking at your bill
Hi Amy 5 Thanks for the 5 Stars across the board. The beers on your check is obviously a mistake on our part and a very easy fix. Can you please send an email to firetowerstratton@gmail. I can find the check and refund the credit card if you provide the name on the credit card. Thanks - Peter owner
Always great food and good service, excellent dinning right on Stratton mountain.
Always an enjoyable time, thank you. Put the beets back into the winter salad though :-)
I've been to Fire Tower many times, and think it's the best sit down restaurant on the mountain at Stratton. The food is great, the wine list is also really good, and the bar area is fun. I'd highly recommend the tuna nachos. They don't handle large parties well when it's busy, but otherwise, it was great.
Delicious and different lots of food choices good ambiance. Very loud however
The food is always consistent. Still the best jerk wings I have ever had and is a must every single time I visit Stratton. The menu has changed here and there over the years but I think their strength are their classics.
We had high expectations as most of the reviews have been favorable. Food was just OK, quality was no better than a chain restaurant. Had the mahi mahi special and the fish was overcooked but plentiful. The Thai chili sauce tasted like it came from a jar with a few sesame seeds sprinkle on top for presentation.
My husband ordered the wedge salad and sirloin. The wedge was pretty good, quality of bacon could have elevated it. He ordered the sirloin steak cooked medium rare, it came to the table raw. He received it back and the whole plate was steaming hot like it was microwaved and a ladle of demi sauce was poured over the top. For my husband not to finish his food, then its not good at all.
The server was lovely and attentive.
A wonderful dinner with great food and professional service!!! DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!
The food was AWESOME especially the vegetarian lasagna and our waitress was exceptional
