Arrived with a pal I hadn't seen since a week before COVID-19's first lockdown. It is not my first visit to this restaurant and the experience has never disappointed. The food is fabulous! A little pricey perhaps, but then again, we were hungry and had the works. We have no complaints whatsoever. I had the scallops, black pudding and bubble and squeak combo. Yummy! Calamari and rocket starter was a high-point! On this visit we felt the cocktails were a little bland - a bit watery - or at least the one I had chosen (Sloe Gin Spritz). Too much "spritz" perhaps. Our very attentive waiter deducted it from our bill. So, I was mollified. We opted to sit outside as COVID is still present, and because it is one of the last opportunities to do so, before the chilly British weather arrives in earnest. There are outside heaters though. There were only a few other diners outside, but considerably busier indoors. The restaurant is usually heaving, but was unusually quiet for a Friday evening. I anticipate things should pick up as London picks itself up ever more so, post-pandemic. All in all a very pleasant evening and will return again and again.
Fish! Never disappoints. The food and wine are excellent. Can highly recommend the prawn cocktail and the sauv blanc Bob short for Kate. Staff are always courteous, friendly and efficient. Thank you.
Our lunch party of three people thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Fish! yesterday. I had the cod and chips and can honestly say it was the best cod and chips I have ever ordered. The fish tasted very good, the batter was amazing and the mushy peas and tartare sauce were absolutely delicious. The beer battered skate and the smoked haddock dishes were very good too. We loved the ambience of the restaurant and the staff were all great. I would definitely recommend this place - you will not be disappointed!
We had an absolutely delicious meal. I got a recommendation from our very nice Italian waiter for the Skate wing and it was one of the best meals I have had out for a long long time!
Thanks very much for such a lovely evening, I would recommend this place 100%
Everything was our beyond our expectation. Table of 4 Dinner.
Excellent quality food, service, ambiance. Highly recommended!
Between myself and my friend, we’ve eaten at Fish many times. Although we’ve not been there recently, loved the new decor. The staff and food was excellent and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Fish.
Tuna Nicoise - everything apart from the Tuna was good. Tuna was ordered medium, but was overcooked on outside, rare on inside, poor seasoning, lack of flavour, insufficiently tender.. Grilled Salmon, cook and taste good but accompanying vegetables of the day was just cabbage.... Overall a disappointing experience.
Over priced, mediocre food disappointing. I will not be back
I had a great time last night. The food was great and the waiter very chilled and playful. Couple of hiccups which he brushed with humour and professionalism. I’ll be back.
It was a good e
Fantastic food and staff, thanks.
It was very good to see the restaurant busy again after the restrictions. A very warm welcome back , superb fish and excellent friendly service. Exactly as it was before. Highly recommended, especially if you want the best quality fish that is served as plain as you want so that you can appreciate the flavour.
Great food (if you like Fish!) Ambience was good and service as always was great
We came up to London for a birthday treat , the Fish Restaurant was so worth a visit , the food freshly prepared and cooked , you are able to watch the Chefs do their magic, the Restaurant was very welcoming, the staff very knowledgable and the food amazing.
Best service. Friendly, polite and tentative throughout. Thank you.
Fantastic restaurant in an excellent location. The menu offers something for all tastes in seafood. The service was outstanding! It does get quite noisy when full. I highly recommend this great restaurant.
I can wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Fish! The service was great and we didn't have to wait too long for our food, and the food itself was very good. I had the calamari to start - unlike the chain restaurants, Fish! do calamari as it should be - when I order calamari, I want the tentacles as for me it's the best part. We also had the beer battered fish & chips - the batter was crisp and the fish beautifully cooked, and the chips were just perfect. The portion sizes were generous too, and mushy peas and tartare sauce really hit the spot.
Great food, in the fantastic location of Borough market.
Not hard to find but an unusual location which gives an initial concern from the outside however once inside, great atmosphere.
Was quiet as I came in but filled up quickly - always a good sign.
My friends arrived a few minutes after me and were blown away by the menu selection, as was I, and all reasonably priced.
The restaurant selection was completely random - based on a search for a fish restaurant with good online reviews and the first one, from a number of selections, that was open on a Monday night and had a table available for 4 at quite short notice.
What a fantastic find - the food was absolutely excellent, service was good without feeling that we were being rushed.
The crowning moment for me was my panna cotta desert - back to basics and beautifully creamy. Too many restaurants mess around with alternative flavourings, sauces and decorations - not here, KISS principle!
The perfect place for a reunion with old friends from abroad after too long a time.
Will definitely be back.
Service was good and friendly. Food was nice but we both felt some if our food was over cooked like the calamari. It was tasty, but for a fish restaurant I would’ve expected more. It was on a par with fish dishes you’d get at a gastropub. Would go again but probably opt for the cheaper dishes!
I booked this restaurant for a friends birthday and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. I chose the fish soup as a starter and my friend had mussels, which came with a choice of the sauce they were cooked in. They were so plump and tasty. The soup was full of flavour and was served with a cheesy crouton. The only criticism would be you had to ask for bread to mop up the mussel sauce as it is not served.
We both chose the skate wing from the Specials of the Day. The fish was cooked to perfection and served with a butter and caper sauce which was so delicious. It was served on a bed of creamed mashed potato infused with scallions. My friend asked to swap the mash for chips whi h the waiter was happy to do.
We had no room for dessert but am sure they would be good judging by the starters and main courses.
The waiting staff were friendly, courteous and helpful.
Will definitely recommend for dinner for 2 or a group of friends and family. Restaurant is bright and airy and even has an outside seating area.
all manner of fresh fish and shellfish on the menu. reliable venue.
Food was great, the service was fantastic, will definitely be returning
Away for anniversary weekend with the wifey, as it was Friday (fish n chips day) we had to have Fish and I am so glad I picked this place, in the middle of Borough Market in the shadow of The Shard.
So glad we booked ahead as this place was packed, no spare tables anywhere, they also have a takeaway side which was busy too.
Let mw do the positives first, the waiter was great, quick with my bottle of Peroni and glass of white wine, he offered bread while we made our choices.
The wife chose mussels marinière with cream, garlic and parsley sauce and as a side a portion of chips, instead of the typical battered fish with chips I went for the grilled Swordfish which came with veg of day, a hollandaise sauce, the waiter asked me potatoes or chips, had to be chips I said to him, priced at £21.50 it was not a cheap main but it was a treat.
Another beer later and the food was here, very quick in deed, the mussels came in a pot (not many of them but they were nice) my swordfish looked amazing it was a decent size with the longest runner beans I have ever seen, complimented with a good portion of chips and a "very" small pot of sauce, the fish was cooked just right, not tough at all and tasted fantastic.
We got the bill, the 4 half slices of french bread were £4, quite a lot when a full loaf is less than a £1, the 2 small bowls of fries were £4 each, I did expect at £21.50 my main would have the fries included.
Big shock was the glass of wine priced at £12.95 which I did think was odd as there is not one glass of any size on the wine list priced at £12.95??
Final shock was they just added 12.5% service charge to our bill, service was good and I was leaving a £5 tip but £10 added I think is cheeky maybe for a party of 6+ yes but not for just 2 people.
I did question "is the service charge not discretionary then?" he said no its standard policy, we paid and left feeling a bit taken advantage of.
Grea fish & chips. Great oysters and great smoked salmon. Exactly what we were looking for.
Nice but nothing special
Fantastic service. Friendly staff who are very efficient. Food was great. Definitely will return.
The food was lovely, Michael our waiter was superb, very knowledgable and extremely accommodating. Will definitely be going back…
Great food and service and ambience. As always!
Fabulous. Great staff. Thank you for coming back! And of course lovely food x
Delicious fish dishes and sides. Nice place to sit in a great location and it had a good atmosphere. The outside area is heated so wasn’t cold. I had seared tuna to start and the roast sea bass special which was delicious. The tuna could have done with more soy and less oil in the dressing but came beautifully rare. The only the that could have been improved was that the grilled fish of the days didn’t come with potatoes or chips so you had to order extra sides, and my main didn’t come with veg so had to order a side which pushes the price up. It was all delicious and in season though. The service was efficient and friendly. I didn’t think they were that clear about the menu and forgot to tell us we needed to choose a side and a sauce for the fish of the day but that is minor.
Food is very good and generous portions. The service is excellent. We went for a birthday and they even produced a listing with a candle and sang my daughter happy birthday!
It's a great location to get to and walk around after your meal.
Great food, loved the Oysters the most!
We arrived late due to problems with transport and they were very accommodating. We needed to be in and out fairly quickly as we had booked the theatre and the staff were amazing, ensuring that our order was taken quickly and we received our food promptly. The fish was fresh and tasty. We will definitely be visiting again when we have more time to savour the meal
Amazing dining experience. Food absolutely delicious 🐟
Lovely food and very attentive staff, will definitely be returning
Excellent service lovely food and nice ambience deigo back
Always lovely. Service and food are so consistently good
