Fishers combines the intimacy of a neighbourhood restaurant, with a polished menu and attentive, personal service. The entire menu is sourced seasonally, sensibly and ethically.
Fishers Restaurant is located in the heart of Clifton Village, Bristol a beautiful Georgian shopping quarter featuring a plethora of independent boutiques, hotels, shops, delis and jewellers… Just a stroll away from Brunel’s Suspension Bridge, Royal York Crescent, the Zoological gardens and Durdham Downs, Fishers is the perfect place for a lunch interlude or a destination dinner.
Excellent food and service 😄
Would definitely go back
Could not fault the food. Excellent. Service quite slow but did not spoil the meal. Being seated upstairs does not have as good an ambience as downstairs. Would visit again though.
Whole-heartedly recommend this place. Great food generally and I simply gave less stars tonight due to fact we were stuck at back with little ambience but it was a late booking and early seat! Staff almost perfect; felt a little like some were uncomfortable.
Visited two nights running. Family meals. Fish and chips a hit. Steak for the grown ups. Very well prepared. Good selection on wine and beer. Try the Tunnel Vision.
Unfortunately this was not our most enjoyable visit to fisher's. The scallops were beautiful but the Sunday special of paella was not good value and although the rice was tasty and the seafood was good quality and very fresh they did not marry up well and the portion size was very small. I am sure we will visit again however would not order the paella in future. Service was great apart from a long wait to be brought our wine after finishing aperitifs, we had to ask for it to be brought.
Had lunch here with a friend on Sunday, the setting was so cute and overall it really was fantastic.
We had the seafood platter for two and then shared a portion of paella and some sampfhire which came with beautiful complimentary bread.
The sauce in which the seafood platter was cooked in was flavorsome and creamy and went perfectly with the prawns, mussels, clams and scallops. The paella was nice, maybe a slightly small portion for £15 but it went well as a bit of carbs on the side.
Overall the meal was lovely, the staff were great and will be coming here again!
Lovely experience and great food. We've already recommended to friends/family and will be returning.
We absolutely loved Fishers restaurant, the food was lovely, service was great and loved the feel of the place too. It really does make you feel like you're near the sea.
Only one thing we'd raise is that we walked into the restaurant on the off chance at around 4.45 pm to see if they had a free table - the restaurant was almost empty but we were told no as they were fully booked and not taking any more bookings.
We then went onto OpenTable to find an alternative restaurant nearby and Fishers came up with free tables at 5 and 5.30pm so we booked 5.30. Slightly odd that we were told we couldn't book and then were able to online! I think they need to give their staff a consistent message.
The food was amazing. The staff were lovely warm and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit. Nice atmosphere too.
Lovely staff, good food and excellent value for money!
Good food, bad service. Took over 20 minutes to just order the food and drinks. I think it was 50% full restaurant. Never again...
Food was good but service was very slow Saturday night. We waited half an hour to make our order and another half hour plus to be served. We were seated on a bench which was not comfortable, especially for older members of our party.
Food was very good, staff very friendly and nice but unfortunately it took a very long time for our order to be taken, even to receive a drink, starters arrived for 3 of us the other we had to wait for and by time it arrived we had all finished ours, salad side dish arrived with main but didn’t include all ingredients as stated in menu so was returned, although it appeared to be a very busy evening in the restaurant when you spend a lot of money on evening out it’s disappointing, however the food was lovely and we would all go again.
Went for a birthday celebration and even tho a fish restaurant ordered steak with a side of half a lobster
Surf and turf
Asked for medium and they served well over done ( cremated )
They did amend the dish and then cook well but was unexpected for the reputation of the restaurant and not nice to see good food wasted.
Another lovely meal in a little gem of a restaurant. The food was brilliant and the service great. Really good value for money. Thanks
Fantastic experience. Attentive yet subtle and professional waiting staff, who do not interrupt you mid-conversation as many seem to these days. The ambiance reminded me of high end Cornish fish restaurant, the vibe is authentic and calming. The food was excellent.
Yes I would recommend but hoping the service would be better
Popped into Fishers on a Sunday night. We ordered marinated olives which I recognised as being cheap canned plain black olives I buy from Tesco for 70p a large tin (bargain!), charging us £4 for 2 tbsp of them was not so good.
We ordered paella. The mussels in it had been cooked in our friend's white wine and garlic sauce which was pretty strange. They also seemed to have been taken out earlier. Whilst they were open, they were luke warm and very, very soft. We left most as we were concerned about getting sick. The whole thing was pretty mediocre and service was very slow despite having 4 staff working and only 4 tables in the restaurant. I wouldn't go back.
Restaurant staff were friendly and very welcoming, starter of Scallops were excellent, disappointed first 2 choices of main, the Tuna and Lobster dishes were not available, so chose the Trout dish, what came was Salmon, but accepted it and found it very good, didn't see anything enticing on the dessert menu, so settled for a liqueur coffee (Jamesons), this was one of the best that I have tasted.
Really good food, well presented in a charming little restaurant.
Service poor very slow had to ask for order to be taken after 30 mins of waiting
Long wait between courses
Wine ordered but very slow in arriving again had to ask for it as didn’t arrive
Plates cleared before everyone had finished their meal
We were given desert menu after our starters as they thought we had had our main course
Lack of staff
Bill incorrect had to be sent twice as they wanted to charge us for 2 bottles of wine and we only had 2 glasses !
Reluctantly paid 10% service charge for very poor service but food good
Would l come back ? Maybe ?
Delicious food, wonderful decor and fantastic service. Will definitely be returning!
I booked a table at Fishers at short notice, only an hour beforehand, for a family meal following my son’s graduation ceremony. What a great find! We all love fish and seafood, we cook a lot at home and have high expectations. This was excellent - the tiger prawns, the Thai fishcakes, the seabass, the beer battered haddock, and the chunky chips were all delicious! Great service too with friendly staff.
food was good and the service was equally as good , the wine was great and the oysters very yummy
Great food, good location. Would definitely go back and would definitely recommend.
We visited Fishers early evening following a day at the SS Great Britain and other museums.
The greeting was welcoming, friendly but not over familiar.
The waitress was attentive but not too pushy. She was efficient, very knowledgable, friendly and added to the enjoyment of the evening. The food was fantastic . I couldn’t fault the food at all.
Can’t wait to go back.
Okay it was a Sunday but no excuse for slow service and low quality fish and seafood from a specialty fish restaurant.
Mussels were okay but I can cook better.
Salmon was good but the rice was over cooked and poorly seasoned.
Further we do not like a service charge added. A tip should be to recognise exceptional food or service, not a given.
We went to Fishers for my birthday and apart from the fact that the food was amazing we had the added bonus of receiving a second bottle of wine free to take home.
My plaice was to die for and the staff were friendly so all in all a lovely experience
The food was delicious and the waiting staff friendly and efficient.
Fishers had a local friendly restaurant feel to it. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The food was really good. I'd definitely go again!
this is a lovely neighborhood fish restaurant, but one that welcomed new customers with friendly open arm's, the food was fresh and well presented, the staff so enjoying their work, a memorable evening all round.
Nice welcome, excellent service, great food and wine and good to see such an extensive range of options for a gluten free diet.
Went on a Friday for a late lunch and chose their daily set menu. It was all very delicious!! I would highly recommend eating here as it is truly lovely. Fish and seafood is hard to get right but Fishers know what they are doing!
Excellent meal for a 70th birthday. All the food was fabulous as usual, especially the sticky toffee pudding which is particularly worthy of note as it is also gluten free.
Special order for the birthday girl was happily accommodated which was gratefully received.
The only very slight thing that let it down was the speed of service. There was only two staff on, they were both great but had a lot to do (so not really their fault). The plates remained longer than was ideal and we had to go up and ask for the bill as we could not catch them and they did not automatically bring it over. No major issue and certainly would not stop us visiting again, just thought it should be mentioned.
5th time I’ve been and sadly we were let down a bit by the service. No as efficient as the previous occasions; food took slightly longer than expected. They didn’t charge for service and overall dealt with it well. We will be back
Excellent seafood well served in convivial surroundings
Excellent gluten free fish and chips and a wide selection of items clearly labelled for allergies. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable and the food was great. Hard to find good battered fish and chips without cross contamination risk but these guys use a separate fryer. My husband isn’t gf and he thought it was really tasty as well.
Great food, well presented and nicely cooked, great, friendly service
Without doubt the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. Only just found this restaurant but love it. Try the mussels as they’re fab. Quick service, great prices. I eat out a lot and have found it faultless!
Cool place, great food, amazing value on wriggle deal
