Nicely desiged restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. Thoroughly recommend.
The weather outside was very cold. The restaurant was cold; we moved away from the air conditioning vent to where it appeared to be a little warmer but not very successfully as you could see the lights blowing in the draught!
They had sold out of lobster and crab and the fish platter that we shared was mostly overcooked. Rather a disappointment.
Lovely place with good food. Tables are bit too crowded though. Excellent service
A worthy replacement for Loch Fyne, and with excellent efficient friendly staff.
The fish was very fresh. The scallops were also fresh & well cooked even if I didn’t like the style of cooking. The service was efficient and quite friendly. The decor of the restaurant was bright, modern & fun. The ambiance at a Saturday lunchtime was very nice indeed.
Food Excellent, there was a table next to us which was very noisy, spoilt our evening a bit.
Really an excellent fish restaurant with a wide choice. They dont mess around with fancy sauces but serve the fish as it should be. Best dishes bouilabasse, lobster and the Brixham fish soup. Interesting selection of wines too. Service was friendly and knowledgeable without being over bearing.
Excellent service, food and ambiance at good price. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Had a lovely lunch to celebrate my daughter's graduation. Have eaten many times at the Swallow Street restaurant but couldn't get a booking. Was glad we went to Covent Garden instead. Food was great and the staff couldn't have been better.
Great value daily menu specials and the food was plentiful and tasty. Had a couple of sides (not overpriced) and would certainly recommend for a great reasonably priced lunch close to Covent Garden. We would certainly go back.
Positioned near kitchen access, noise levels and traffic to and from not to disruptive, food above average but not the greatest I’ve ever had for the cost. Mark up on the wine £36 for a bottle that averages £10 to buy according to my Wine app, but only to be expected in London. Acid test I suppose is would I recommend or go again “yes” as it is Convenient for a few Theatres and especially if you like seafood.
Delicious food and very attentive staff
Service was great and good was lovely. It’s a quiet restaurant, good for couples. Food was also great, the fish soup was lovely and my fish and chips were very nice. We had the pre theatre menu so it was good value for money.
An excellent set menu offering delicious food. Would definitely go back. Excellent service.
Table was ready when we arrived. Service was efficient but unobtrusive. Food was good and piping hot.
Not much atmosphere but we easily made it to the theatre on time which was our priority.
We had a lovely evening at Fishworks. It was recommended by a friend and I couldn’t agree more! Amazing food and service. Highly recommended
Fantastic food, great flavours and excellent service.
Fish all laid out on ice as you enter the restaurant, looks fabulous and extremely tasty!
Lovely pre Theatre meal. Great restaurant and attentive service.
Only not 5 star as issue about eligibility for Times Plus Gourmet Society discount. Nothing to show any restrictions other than for >6 people. Apparently not eligible for discount on the set menu.
The food was great and good value for money so I didn’t make too much of an issue of this but it should be made clearer under restrictions on tge offer.
Good for pre-theatre dining, although they stop taking orders for the pre-theatre menu at 6pm.
The staff was very polite and attentive.
The food was good as well and all good value.
The only down side was that the bathrooms were a bit dirty and right in front you could see the kitchen - not a very nice things to see :/
But I would be happy to be back as the food and service was good!
Service slow, waiting staff were overwhelmed by the number of diners (the restaurant was full and turning people away). We ate pre-theatre so were time limited. Food was poor. Main courses very dry and pudding inedible. The Fishworks kitchen needs to up its game if it wants repeat business, though it gave the impression that it didn’t care. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal, I imagine the staff already knew the answer.
Fantastic lobster. Great service. Disappointing tuna carpaccio starter.
Wonderful New Year’Evening dinner. Food is excellent and service is superb. We enjoyed it very much
Food was just marvelous but service was very poor.
Hard to get attention from waiters, unless you're Italian and served by an Italian waiter.
Service is slow and inattentive. We've had to order twice for some items.
The food was as always in this Fishworks outstanding. The service was not great because there was only one person on duty and he clearly felt very stressed. I understand the pressure he faced but one also wants a dining experience when the waiter's pressure is not felt by the diners. This was our New Year's Eve lunch too special for us. He spilled water while pouring it and ddi to wipe up the table. I had to use tissues to do it. he also managed to spill wine mainly because rather than walking round my husband and pouring the wine properly he stretched across the table and my husband's face to get to the glass. I love Fishworks and would always go back but the service has to be consistently good because after a while no matter how good the food if the services bad it puts you off.
Despite it being a fish restaurant and us eating there on December 27th, the menu was quite good and the meal excellent, the wine list was good but a shade expensive but this criticism is not exclusive to Fishworks, wine mark-up is getting out of control
I went to Fishworks as I have been to the Swallow Street branch twice before and enjoyed the ambience and food on both occasions. I would recommend it.
My friend and I were disappointed with the fish and chips today. The batter was too heavy and thick. In fact my friend had so little fish inside her batter she sent it back. The waitress did take it away and replace it with no fuss.
We had to get up from the table and ask for salt, pepper and ketchup as the waitress did not ask if we needed anything else when she served the main course.
I shall not be visiting this restaurant again.
The scallops were delicious and portions were very generous! Our friendly waiter kept the bubbles flowing throughout so we well fed and watered.
The only downside was the desserts though we were so full from the starters and mains that it didn't really matter.
Went there for lunch and was seated by the window - lots of space and natural daylight. We had the lunch menu which was value for money. For me though the food was a bit oily - not sure if they added it at the end eg to the vegetables for flavour.
Great meal during our Christmas trip
Marinated salmon? You must be joking. This salmon hadn’t come within a million miles of a marinade. Fish and chips? Quite revolting. The chips been sitting there for four, or was it five, days. Mushy peas? What, diluted with water? Battered fish? More like old batter with a bit of fish added in. White wine? Quite the worst I’ve tasted in a long time. Staff attention? Only when it came to splashing out our bottle of wine in the hope they could flog another. Ambience? Why was the air conditioning blowing cold air in the middle of winter? We never did get an adequate explanation. Our first, and last, venture away from our usual haunts in Covent Garden.
I revisited Fishworks with my husband this time taking my my parents before a show on boxing day. We received a warm greeting and pleasant service. We all enjoyed our started of either prawns or scallops followed by fish and chips which was very tasty but I am not a fan of the ‘homemade’ style Tatar sauce which I find predominately too oily tasting. However the dessert were enjoyable and we left full and satisfied. Thank you.
My wife's birthday and joined by my adult children.
Fabulous meal - oysters, filleted sea bass etc.
Certainly will be back.
Excellent waiter , made the evening
It was a fabulous meal in a lovely environment with great staff x
Fabulous service and very good quality fresh fish.
The fish was perfectly cooked, fresh and delicious. Service was super helpful.
Covent Garden branch not as good an experience as the Mayfair branch. Good quality and value, but restaurant itself was bordering shabby - and the bathrooms, both men’s and women’s, were filthy even by the standards of a truck stop.
Terrible service, think something had gone wrong with staffing so waited over an hour for food which was pretty poor quality itself. Waitress said she felt ashamed...
Service was very poor, although staff were friendly
