The selection available was good and the food tasted great. Good service and lovely venue.
We went for lunch on a Wednesday, restaurant was quiet but seemed difficult to get attention from staff. Had to asked to see the lunch time menu, to which the waiter seemed confused with what I was talking about. Had to point at the broad on the wall which displayed offer with lunch time promo. We decided to order from the main menu, we ordered the small mussels which was a little under cooked. Overall service was slow, food was tasteless. I can’t even say the experience was standard, below standard!! Would not go again.
We ate at Swallow street having done a search of fish restaurants in London. We love seafood and were not disappointed. We will be definitely be back. Thanks to all the staff.
We had the fish platter for two and it was delicious! The espresso panna cotta is also a must try.
Will definitely go again
Excellent seafood. My fav seafood restaurant in London. Fish is always fresh and very well prepapred.
Food was fresh and properly cooked. Service spot on.
The food was absolutely brilliant. The mackerel was the best I'd ever eaten and our group also enjoyed the fish soup, the whitebait and the tuna. Terrific value. I can't wait to return.
The food and service were amazing! We will definitely be back!
I enjoyed a very good meal here. However, the service staff and particularly the woman meeting and greeting was very poor. That is a shame. I also got the impression that the kitchen was unable to cope with the number of orders that were being put to them. My fish arrived seven minutes before my vegetables...by which time I had consumed the fish. Apologies were showered at me, but nothing was done. Nothing could be done. The fish had been eaten.
I was due to meet a good friend for supper. I arrived twenty minutes before she and was shown to my most pleasant table. When she arrived she was assured that no such table (in my name) had been booked and she became confused. I was sitting there all the time, of course. Luckily I saw her being told I was not here, she was about to leave, and I fortunately rescued her.
This is no way to greet a guest. When I questioned the young woman on the reception computer, told her I was indeed here, and asked her to look once again, she found me. Abject incompetence but a sub-standard member of staff. How fortunate she doesn't work at my restaurant.
The food though was good. Not excellent, but above average and I would return, only next time alone for I could not risk having another of my guests told there wasn't a table booked in my name.
Good experience & food.
Really enjoyed our meal. Grilled seafood platter excellent, as also bass and hake. Staff were attentive, thoughoOdd that they had to ask us how to mix/serve both Pimms and Campari when both were on the drinks menu. Viognier was good.
Great quality seafood. Lovely service. Always good to go back when we are in town!
We really loved the starter at Fishworks - we both had the Brixham lobster bisque, one of the best we've had. But the main courses were so-so - nice but not outstanding (This was all off the 'lunch' menu available till 6pm.). We definitely needed the extra veg ordered. However, they got us through fairly quickly, as we had theatre tickets, and had booked for 5pm - I think people arriving later didn't get served as quickly.
So very Great ❗️
We come back soon😀
Thank you so much !
We came for my wife's birthday having read about Fishworks on line. We had the 3 tiered fish dishes, and they were a bit mixed. The batter on the squid of the fritto misto was quite thick and hard, the rest was OK. The second course was generally very good and nice dressing. The third (cold) dish was frankly too cold, straight out of the fridge I thought. The prawns seemed old, rather a woolly texture rather than shiny with a little crunch. Oyster were delicious.
Service was very friendly, and it was a very kind touch to let us have our shared dessert on the house, with Happy Birthday piped over it.
Food was really fresh and tastey just a bit pricey in comparison to other top sea food restaurants iv been to. But that's what you get in central london. If you passing by would 100% recommend
Lovely restaurant in a side street off Piccadilly. Nice options to choose from, obviously nearly all fish based. Between us we had the Fritto Misto (mixed deep fried fish including whitebait, prawns, monkfish and squid), a Seabass and Monkfish Main each with various sides and an Expresso Pannacotta and Brownie with Ice Cream for dessert. We had two glasses of prosecco each plus a bottle of Portuguese white wine. Bill was £180 including service. Staff were very friendly. Service was good. Food was very tasty. Only reason didn’t give 5 stars was that the Fritto Misto wasnot as good as the other courses. But would definitely recommend and will go again.
Been here several times over the years, small and well priced menu which is great so no wasting time choosing and says to me it is all fresh, good service and decent bottle of Sauvignon for not a lot of money either considering where the restaurant is.
A bit slow on service but great value!
Only went here for the Oysters as my wife loves them. They have an excellent deal of 3 Jerseys with a glass of champagne for £15. She was very happy with them.
Like Fishworks...mains are great...starter portions are grossly overpriced...at least 3 garlic prawns are...
Fresh Oysters, Fresh fishes and lovely service attendants !
Food was excellent but after arriving at 5.30 and not requiring a starter, the food did not arrive till 6.30. The theatre began at 7.00 so it was a rush to arrive on time.
Very good food and reasonable value for that part of town. Waiters were attentive but not intrusive. Only disappointment was that we had to ask specifically for the Lunch Menu after being seated and given the a la carte menus.
I decided to have the Bouillabaisse a favourite of mine and really a classic that a restaurant like this should be able to produce in their sleep, the "soup" was over cooked where any flavour had been boiled away leaving no taste at all. A good amount of shell fish mostly muscles 75% of which were closed and non edible which would bring into question freshness of the produce.
Any Chef worth there sort would have seen this a first glance , service was slow
i will not be returning
Great menu options wonderful ambience. Nice location just off the heavy footfall of Piccadilly
Fantastic food and fantastic service. When we go back to London we will definitely return. Thank you!
Oysters and starters were fine but the main courses (which were in fact starters) of mussels and king prawns were not good. None of the mussels were fully open and the sauce was not as good as three weeks previously. The king prawns were dry and overcooked. It seemed as though both dishes had been half cooked and then heated up. This was a major disappointment as we have loved going to Fishworks for some time now. Has there been a change of chef?
On the plus side the service was excellent and the surroundings are great.
Nice food good fish and wine.
I had the cod and chips.
Fish was under cooked.
Friendly, helpful and efficient table service. Nice variation on the menu. Food was presented well and tasted fantastic. Well worth a visit for the fish foodies. I will be going back
This is a gem! A wonderful fresh seafood place with great wine list and service all for reasonable prices. They are a fishmonger too, so you can pick your fish out if the case if you like. Right off Regent street in a fancy area, down a quiet alley. Right next door to a famous, expensive fish house. Been to both an Fishworks is
It was such a shame that the food did not match the quality of fish and great service. We had to return the sea bass as 1 fillet was not cooked through and the remaining dish was cold. The scallop starter was covered in dry breadcrumbs with and had next to no garlic butter and the mackerel was overcooked. We have been to Fishworks many times and this is the first time we were disappointed. We appreciated how quickly the returned dish was dealt with and the reduced bill at the end, however the star elements of 3 dishes were below average. I hope this was just a bad day at the office as we would love to keep coming back.
The seafood is really lovely. They let themselves down a little with the basics though. The bread and dip starter was pretty bland, and the chips were so-so. The service was friendly and relaxed. We weren’t rushed at all. Overall a good experience and I would return.
I'm fond of Fishworks and will be going again. The food is excellent and good value. As always, the Service is friendly and efficient. The wine, a Sauvignon Blanc, was undistinguished: nothing like as good as the Fishworks own label SB which seems to be no longer available.
The experience was good overall, except the crab and a few mussels weren’t fresh
Soup was not the best quality
Fish is wonderfully fresh here and simply, but well prepared. However, service on this occasion was painfully slow. We were simply ignored for half an hour, and it wasn’t over busy. Disappointing.
Have been twice now. Consistently good food.
My favourite central London restaurant and a regular destination for supper, great food, I’ll be back!
