Lovely place. Comfortable atmosphere. Attentive and knowledgeable staff. Reasonably priced too. Food definitely goes for quality over quantity with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. No faults.
Love it. Wish it had a few more special veggie options though
I've tried Fitzroy, NSK, Westerns Laundry and Jolene so i'm just a tad biased but these guys hit the mark every time - nothing more to say!
Great food with a difference. Nice atmosphere with friendly, helpful staff.
We booked for a group of 4. The menu was limited but we liked everything on offer. We all had different starters and main courses and all the food was good especially the lobster that was perfectly cooked and prepared.
For an old bank the building had atmosphere, nothing fancy but fine.
All staff were very friendly and helpful.
From the moment we entered the Restaurant you felt welcome. Our Waitress Rebecca was very "smiley" and knowledgeable about the menu,. the food was amazing. We had Lobster & Pork. The ambience was electric. I would highly recommend and will return again in future when we visit Fowey.
Fantastic food. Limited choice but delicious. Wines very expensive but great quality. Waitress was very helpful offering a taste of each wine we discussed having before we ordered.
Only criticism is that I felt uncomfortable that she stood very close to the table whilst discussing our orders without wearing face masks and we were only allowed 90 minutes on the table. However with the current situation we did understand this necessity for them to be able to fit in another sitting and we were able to finish our drinks at the bar watching the chefs which was great anyway.
Overall a great place for a special meal.
Pricey but well worth it. We’d book again with no hesitation when visiting Fowey in the future.
This is our favourite restaurant. You will not be disappointed.
Simple menu, food simply presented, but very very weelcoomed and lovely. Good ambience, only issue was having to keep asking for main door to be closed due to draft
great place. good food good service lively atmosphere really enjoyed
Fantastic meal very tasty. service was good and great atmosphere in the upstairs room
We’ve eaten at Fitzroy inFowey twice over our holiday. It’s one of the highlights of the break.
It’s the best food we’ve eaten in a long time. We love the change in menu each time. The venison was superb.
The staff are always very professional and friendly.
Everything about this restaurant I love.
Excellent food very flavour some. I have coeliac and they were very accommodating. The staff were friendly . Atmosphere felt very relaxed .
Staff very friendly and attentive and although busy made time to chat and keep all the punters happy. Internal decor and vibe cool and relaxed. Food was really great and we didn’t want it to end. From the curried beetroot dish right through to my mackerel main and our shared desert it was mouth-wateringly good. We had a super bottle of Provence Rose to accompany our meal which was the icing on the cake.
All in all, The Fitzroy is wonderful and we can’t wait to get back there.
Ten out of ten, team, keep it up!
Short menu but top class food, great service, a real dinner to remember, will definitely come again next time we come to Corwall!
Incredible food and atmosphere. The staff were friendly and we had a great experience, would definitely recommend
Denver and lobster was nice but there was not much with it considering the price. The service was cold and not warm. There was no introduction when sitting down and there was some rudeness. Wouldn’t go again!
Delicious food - lobster bisque and fried mackerel are not to be missed.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Fitzroy! An unexpected find but well worth it - the food and service was delightful
Great food and service.....fabulous to find such a high quality eatery in Fowey!
It was perfect, we had a great night at Fitzroy. Everything was better than I had hoped.
Awful food cooked to a very poor standard. I had high expectations and booked Fitzroys to celebrate a small family celebration. So disappointing! We left without eating a meal.
Very poorly cooked food and the service is outrageous.
I don’t complain as a rule but vote with my feet and won’t return if I have a bad experience. However, all 4 mains were really poor and 2 meals were inedible so I felt I had to tell the waitress.
The waitress was not interested in our disappointment or did not try to be understanding or sympathetic.
I tried to constructively and politely express our disappointment but she was defensive and confrontational and actually stopped our conversation for several minutes because she wanted to speak to a neighbouring table that were leaving. She returned to us with even less interest and more attitude.
A very uncomfortable, expensive evening and at 50 years I can easily say this was the worst ever restaurant experience I have ever had.
I would recommend that no one waste their precious holiday time or their money in this restaurant but on a positive note we loved Fowey and found several other proper and lovely restaurants.
Fantastic meal, great service, wine on tap and lovely ambience.
Great food and good service and atmosphere excellent
Thoroughly enjoyable, three great courses and good wines to go with - will definitely be back.
Lovely food, well cooked and presented. Safe setting. Kind service.
Nice simple decor, immaculate presentation, delightful and friendly staff. Imaginative and tasty food. Short menu meaning fresh and well cooked food. Will go again
Lovely atmosphere, great food, friendly and attentive service.
Gorgeous food and incredibly helpful and lovely staff, made a holiday experience even better
Amazing experience - food, service and atmosphere couldn't be better.
Really enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. Small menu but quite varied in what it offers and all superbly presented/cooked.
Service was exemplary too and I'd especially recommend the House White that was an excellent Sauvignon Blanc!
Very nice service. Had a lovely evening! Ambience was spot on too
The quality of food and service is very high, yet not too expensive. It stands above the many, mainly average, other eating establishments in Fowey, for quality and inventiveness.
I am writing this review after a very bad recent experience at Fitzroy, having previously given good reviews for this restaurant.
Why have I given such a poor rating? ...
1. I object to being told at the outset that they need the table back after 1 hr 30 min, when the booking clearly stated the table was available for 1 h 45 min (already rather short).
2. We had looked at the menu advertised for the week of concern before going, and were looking forward to the lobster. On arrival we were given a completely different menu .. a disappointment, but we made our choices. Then we started to see lobster arriving at other tables. We were told that there were supply problems, so we assumed they had run-out part way through service. The final straw was when people who had arrived after us were also served with lobster. It was eventually admitted that the waitress had simply forgotten to tell us that lobster was still available - really annoying.
3. What about the food we did order? The two starters and one dessert were OK, but nothing special. The main (duck breast) was extremely poor ... a number of slices of meat, lacking flavour and with rather undercooked skin, floating in an unattractive tasteless mush that was made from lentils and some vegetable. One piece of meat served to me was also not freshly cooked but had instead clearly been cooked several times. For this "pleasure" we were charged £24 per head .... quite simply, we would more enjoyed a readymeal from the supermarket and saved ourselves a lot of money.
4. I have been critical about the red wine selection before, so was interested to see that two new wines were available by the glass. Unfortunately there were no better than the previous ones .... again I could have done better buying a bottle for £5 from a supermarket.
Service was good apart from being sat right next to the waitress station. Starters were delicious, mains were poor, the duck was limp and the skin not rendered down making it unpleasant to eat and boring. The cheese plate for dessert was again boring, three small slices of cheese, no chutneys, no grapes, no crackers, just bread which we ordered at the beginning and I do not think you need bread to finish a meal with.
Was very expensive for what we received and will not be going back.
The best experience! Really amazing food and service, we can’t wait to come back!!!
Lovely inventive food and good attention to service and health/safety measure.
Interesting and delicious food in a friendly environment.
Gorgeous building, very romantic setting, staff were very attentive and friendly, food was beyond delicious. The gas wasn’t working so we didn’t have full choice of menu but that didn’t matter. It was also really reasonably priced. Will definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.
Really lovely restaurant with a nice ambience. The starters were delicious but
