Flame and Smith
Incredible! Service was slightly slow - which was likely because it was thanksgiving and very busy. Food is out of this world - highly recommend
Pork chop and steak was over cooked. Decoration was good.
We enjoyed our dinner very much. We have been a few times - so would like more changes / specials to vary the menu and bring us back. Also the wine menu could include some lovely wines with a lower price range!
As usual, excellent food and service. We have been there many times and have never been dusappointed. The oysters are very, very fresh and delicious.
Our meal at Flame and Smith was good but certainly not memorable. My wife and I arrived on time for our reservation but the table was still occupied so we were offered seats at the bar. Our drink order was taken and served promptly, and our dinner order taken. Within 10 minutes the table came available and we were seated. Our shared starter (buffalo mozzarella and tomatoes) arrived simultaneously with the entrees (sea bass and the pork chop) which was inconvenient and poorly timed. However, the quality of the starter was excellent and very much enjoyed. My Berkshire pork chop was excellent with a lovely char and nicely complemented by the roasted apple. My wife's sea bass arrived with bones intact and, given the low light level, made eating it less than enjoyable. At no time were we offered wine with dinner which was a major oversight. Dessert was the cheese plate which offered a selection of local chesses and was quite pleasant. Overall, not a bad experience but hardly memorable.
Our dinner was wonderful and the service outstanding. Very hip and on trend, the food is served in a timely manner by very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Most of the fare is local and all has that signature 'flame' flavour. Extremely enjoyable and a must go to restaurant in the County.
Awesome meal, every bit was delicious. The bread, wine, meal and dessert were all absolutely perfect.
Had an awesome dinner at Flame and Smith. The family style meal provided an abundance of delicious food, served promptly! Can't wait for my next visit to Prince Edward County and Flame and Smith.
Dinner with visitors from Europe
We were staying at the Runaway Rooster, just up the road, and Flame and Smith was recommended. It is only a couple of minutes walk away. We were not disappointed. Our table had a perfect view of cooking over the “flame”. I was fascinated. There is nothing quite like food cooked over an open flame, delicious!
We truly had a memorable evening with excellent service. We could find no fault.
Thank you to all.
Flame and Smith was amazing! The food was fresh and so tasty. I was especially pleased with how accommodating the staff was with us adding an additional person at the last minute.
The only reason I didn’t give this restaurant a great review is because my mother-in-law mentioned that she had a seafood allergy and was still given a meal containing squid ink. Luckily we stopped and inquired before she continued eating, the server was great and she was also serving the entire patio which was packed but still this could of been very bad.
Great food, nice servers. Dessert and wine list both fantastic. Tomato salad starter was to die for. Dining partner loves his pork chop, I had a vegetarian tart that fell short on flavour. Would be 5 stars for two meat eaters. Overall recommended but avoid the tart. Vegetarians just eat the starters/sides because all those we tried were flavourful and creative.
Reasonably good food but failed to meet expectations. Hamburger was quite good but Bavette steak was disappointing. It was cooked to medium rare but very chewy and could use some seasoning.
Great atmosphere and food was beyond amazing, we will definitely re-visit the next time we visit the county!
Fabulous. Food delicious. Well presented. Service and recommendations spot on.
The salads were mouthwatering, as was the burger. Absolutely delicious. Found the mains somewhat lacking in selection and quite expensive! Thought I had stumbled into Downtown Toronto! Other than that, everything was perfect!
Superb as ever. Hearty but unique and original dishes. And the place smells amazing thanks to the fire and the different woods they burn in the kitchen.
I've heard great things about Flame and Smith - this was my first time there and I was not disappointed. My service review does not reflect any real issues - the wait staff were prompt, charming and most helpful - but we waited a while for our bill which I think was due perhaps to the restaurant being busier than expected. We were certainly surprised to see so many people there on a Wednesday in September! Good for you. Can't wait to come back.
We had tried on several occasions to book here but it was always busy. It is visually appealing and when we finally secured a reservation we were excited. Our server started us out (ordering appetizers and main) but then disappeared. We never saw her again. When she asked about our main course order we asked questions about fish. Not once did she mention the Sea Bass was served whole with head, tail etc. When the dish arrived I sent it back as I thought what I was ordering was a piece of fish. We noted that other tables being seated had the servers spending time with them going through the menu. We did not get that level of service. In the meantime, my dinner partner had their food and needed to eat as the food would be cold. The new server explained why the fish was served whole and it was all about sustainability and fish was from Greece. etc. Needless to say, I'm embarrassed that I had to send this back. Such a disappointing date night as my partner ate alone and I was stuck with a salad so we didn't have to wait for another cooked entre. They should do a better job of describing the dish on the menu and ensure their servers are well versed and helpful. They did not charge for the returned fish but we both left feeling horrible.
Absolute Gem ! Everything is just awesome , from ambiance to very delicious food . Local farm to table food. A must to try!
Celebrated anniversary over the weekend in PEC. Flame & Smith did not disappoint.
Little expensive and unfortunately didnt like the anise in the seafood sauce. Amazing caesar salad! Would be nice to see more County wines.
A truly exquisite experience with excellent service , knowledgeable staff & wonderful wine and food menu. From appetizers to dessert we were not disappointed. We would definitely return on our next visit to the county.
Service and food were excellent, pork was too overcooked for my liking but if were to go back would ask for it medium rare.
Yes, my guests and I would recommend this restaurant. It's not my first time here either. We had a wonderful meal. Though we were informed of the specials, it seems like we were not mentioned about all of the specials. When we approached the Grill and met with the Chef, we noticed that there were quite a few Tomahawks hanging off the hooks, though, we were only offered the other special. Which was very good, however, we would have taken a Tomahawk any day.
We noticed also that we were never offered bread and butter. When we did ask were told that they would charge us for it. Given that we spent a lot of $$$ on our meal, sides, appetizers cocktails, wine, most restaurant offer bread and butter. The service was attentive overall, though the first cocktail they brought to our table was the wrong one.
Expensive for the deliverable we received. Waitress seemed rushed and fairly stuck up. Other staff seemed nice. Food was decent, but not WOW for what we paid.
Beautiful restaurant! Delicious food, great wines and awesome ambiance!
Myself and one companion had the mushroom tart. It was not tasty and the pastry very tough. In fact, I lost a filling eating the tart. Service was spotty at best, I think because we had several people serving us and we did not have a dedicated server. We received our food and still did not have any drinks at the table. The acoustics were also poor which made talking to my dinner companions very difficult.
All that being said, my other 2 companions loved their meal, especially the tuna ceviche and grilled baby corn. Kudos to the restaurant for their wine list which was very interesting and extensive.
Went with high expectations, was disappointed
We had booked a table for the 4 of us well in advance to celebrate a special family birthday as we had heard this was one of the best restaurants in the area. Upon arrival, the greeter let it slip that he had made a mistake with our booking so we wound up sitting at a table for 2. It took 15-20 minutes for the server to take our orders. After placing our orders, we waited another 45 minutes for appetizers, noticing that the tables around us had not only received theirs but were onto the main course. When we flagged our server down to ask if she could look into the delay, she returned with appetizers after another 15 minutes (without apology or explanation). After waiting another 30 minutes for our mains, we again flagged down our server to check on the status of our meal. Once our meals finally appeared, the burger was burnt and the tomato tart lukewarm yet overcooked. When the server came to clear the plates, we asked to speak to the manager and instead the surly greeter appeared who was rude and exasperated that we expressed disappointment, explaining that we had booked at a busy time and that “this just happens sometimes.” When we said we wanted the cheque so we could pay and leave, he returned very quickly and threw it in a crumbled ball onto the table. The bill showed that 2 of the main courses had been removed, although we understood from the manager whom we met on the way out that she had told he house to remove all the mains from the bill. To be fair, she was very sorry to hear about our experience and said that it had been unacceptable - but at that point we were leaving.
So not only was the food vastly overpriced, underwhelming and disappointing but the way we were treated and made to feel - especially at a celebratory dinner - was inexcusable. There are so many great restaurants and eating experiences in the area. We won’t waste our time and money at this one again.
We are very sorry that your visit with us was so unpleasant. It is our sincerest intention to ensure every guest has the most pleasurable time possible. OT allows limited text yet we would like to clarify: You were sat at a table of 4. When you expressed dissatisfaction we apologized (several times); The bill was not thrown in a “crumpled ball” but presented as bills are; all 4 mains were removed from the bill. It troubles us that you found nothing good and again, we apologize for failing you.
The meat was a little more chewy than it should be but the flavour was amazing. The waitress is not the most engaging or knowledgeable. The manager was great and knew how to treat clients very well. Overall one of the best restaurants in the County
Wonderful food and friendly and enthusiastic staff. A treat to go there.
Great, friendly, service and atmosphere. Their in house made bread was amazing.
Asked for a recommendation at The Old Third winery, they directed us to Flame and Smith. Great choice! Good food, good service, good music, good ambiance. And a nice choice of local wines. Had Lighthall’s Pinot Noir, love Glen’s wines!
Would come back again when we visit the County.
Excellent food and service! A gem and highly recommended!
Fresh fabulous local food and fantastic wine list. Gorgeous room.
Lovely meal and some really great dishes!
This was very disappointing. We came in for an 8pm reservation on Friday, the place was less than half full, yet service was incredibly slow. Food took forever to come out, and was unimpressive considering the high end costs. The saving grace was the lemon tart dessert, and the lovely server who was apologetic for how slow everything was. Though unfortunately, we won’t be returning or recommending this spot for guests headed to the county.
