Flame creating an exclusive menu putting together varied cooking techniques and flavours from the world and Anatolian cuisine.
Family run Turkish restaurant in Bloor West village. Warm, welcoming and pleasant service make you feel like part of the family. The husband was an artist and has designed customized, very beautiful plates for each dish, so the presentation is outstanding. A variety of meatless and meat offerings with interesting choices possible to share, among the appetizers. Interesting variation on the standard fast food Middle Eastern cuisine. A lovely adventure into fine Turkish dining!
Real gem... Amazing food and attention to detail. We look forward to going back!
Truly an unexpected pleasure in dining... chef-owner is over-the-top gracious in sharing his food expertise and guiding a first-time diner through the subtleties of his Anatolian cuisine ...outstanding, awesome, memorable
Totally amazing experience. Thanks to the owner and his wife.
Incredibly welcoming environment and a real culinary treat. The owners are highly creative and it is reflected both the atmosphere and the delicious cuisine. Loved it!
The first time experience and will definitely go back. The aroma of steak on the grill and the food presentation was lovely. Thank you for a memorable evening
Great meal. A place where the both food and design have been carefully thought through. Highly recommend Flame.
Great food, ambience & service. We were greeted by the owner & after a short conversation about food, he offered to make a lamb dish not on the current menu for me. It was one of the best meals in recent memory. Highly recommend this great restaurant for interesting & market fresh meals. Everything was made from scratch and with superior skill & ingredients. Enjoy!
The mezze appetisers are the star of the show. Perhaps the steaks as well but I was too full to experience them. The presentation in uniquely designed attractive serving dishes creates great expectations that are not disappointed with amazing flavour combinations. This is not the typical Turkish restaurant - it is a flavour experience!
Such amazing service and food! All the servers are wonderful and the food is insanely good! This is a must go place. Can’t wait to go back
Really creative food and great service.a great birthday night out
Amazing service. Great food
Nothing negative - all positive - from the greeting at the door until the end. Loved it all.
The lamb chops were amazing. The fish was tasty but not large enough a portion to be filling, especially in comparison to my companion's lamb chops. Next time, I will order the lamb chops again.
The owner, Serhat, met us at the door and is passionate about great, fresh food and design. He brought us a complementary appetizer which was delicious. We had a wonderful lunch and plan to return with friends to try the dinner menu.
Everything was delicious. We had the quail and the Denver steak. Charcoal bread was also very good.
I will be taking my fussy sister there next time they are in town.
The food was absolutely delicious and the room is comfortable and interesting. Our server was a little overwhelmed and forgot several items, starting with menus! Things improved as the evening went along.
First time ever and it was a lovely experience.
Second time to the restaurant and enjoyed it very much. Had a seat in the rear of the main floor and was not loud or cramped at all. Very enjoyable to be able to get up and walk to the front where the fire/grill is and watch the chefs at work. Upstairs shop is very nice to visit as well. Staff were excellent and very attentive. The food was amazing. Highly recommend the lamb (which was everyone's favourite at our table).
Wonderful Flame. The Chef greeted us personally and made some great recommendations. The service was great and we will definitely be back!
Wonderful food and lovely owners. Great food and fantastic grill.
Exquisitely delicious food, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, lovely music, everything was impeccable. Would definitely go back & try different things
Great food. Creative presentation. Nice atmosphere. Kind, nice, friendly hosts (who are also owners). Must go.
We were rather disappointed with our experience at Flame. We like to check out new restaurants in the neighbourhood and there was some chatter about the place, though not too many reviews on line and we don’t trust Yelp reviews. We were disappointed in several ways...
1) Ambience: the restaurant is too packed with tables, and the crescendo of talking, even for a Saturday night, was extreme. It also lasted longer than most because of the timing of the meals coming to tables (see 2 below) It was certainly lively, but also very very loud.
2) Our food came out about 45 minutes after we ordered it. We understand it needs to be cooked from scratch on the grill, but we were also stuck behind a very large party. This means that there is a timing problem with reservations and the ability of the kitchen to service them. If the grill can’t time for the numbers seated, then the numbers seated should drop at different time periods, and be spaced properly. With a “chef/designer” proprietor and a “professor” co-proprietor, perhaps there is inexperience here with running a dining room. ALL meals came out at the same time, and the noise level in the room finally dropped as people ate...a couple seated an hour after us had their food in 15 minutes;
3) The food was disappointing. It’s a Turkish restaurant but there were no Turkish flavours on the meat! The lamb was served with a sprig of rosemary, as it would be in any gourmet restaurant...shouldn’t there be something like pomegranate sauce? Coffee sauce? Something unique to Turkey? The short rib was actually a long beef rib, but there was only one. Actually, for $38 and $39 respectively, the portions were small. And not that we are insisting, but no starch was odd, no rice? No delicious roast Parisienne potatoes? The shallots roasted on the grill might have been delicious but they were raw, not grilled or cooked through. The artichoke was a unique yummy touch. But it was the only highlight.
4) the pricing was high, we thought.
This is a first rate dining experience. Every thing that we sampled was tasty and interesting. The menu offers a broad selection and we will be back to try other items. The rack of lamb was absolutely terrific.
