Brilliant place. The food is Dana d the atmosphere is fantastic. Staff is knowledgeable and really looks after you. LOVE IT!
The interior including the bar is very nice and ambience good. Feels bright and fresh.Service was also good and attentive. But I thought the food was underwhelming for the location and interior. My lobster salad was basically a huge bowl of lettuce with a few bits of lobster with the odd tomato and some sliced avocado and a bland dressing. It felt as though it had been prepared in one minute. I can prepare something a lot better... I have never seen so much lettuce . So the food would stop a return visit.
I went to have a farewell meal with two friends. As soon as we arrived we left like we were not the type of people wanted there. The waitress was very rude and made us feel very unwelcome.
Then to top it off it was £6 for a Diet Coke. And the prices were outrageously expensive. Sadly we had a terrible meal and decided to have dessert somewhere else since we were made to feel very unwelcome.
The staff were all brilliant and attentive. We were made to feel very special. The menu was small but offered great choices; and our chosen dishes were excellent. We will definitely be back.
One of the best meals I have had in London for along time
Well cooked and presented. Service friendly and efficient
Great wine list
Elegant and delicious! Wonderful service. Paris bistro in the heart of London!
Second time visiting Folie and the food was fantastic again. The service wasn’t as good as our last experience sadly but still overall a very enjoyable evening.
They offered us two glasses of champagne for our anniversary
menu too big, portions too big, food doesn't feel new, could improve in quality and creativity.
We had a reservation for 7:30pm. We were told we could only have the table until 8:45. From the moment we were seated at 7:40 we were rushed to order, being asked 3x in a matter of 8 minutes. Our meal was rushed and immediately at 8:45 we were ejected from our table.
This was a work/friendly meal. The person we were having dinner with runs the biggest company of its kind. He is you g so we figured he would like the ambiance and music at Folie. It was in very poor taste how the manager and staff behaved and we will not be dining there again. Further, I will make sure to share with friends in London how distasteful the service there was. I do not recommend this establishment as most will generally give you 2-2.5hrs at a table not 1hr 15min. It is truly laughable!
Dear Guest, We apologies you didn’t find the service enjoyable. The table you booked being not to your taste, we offered an option with a limited amount of time, as it was rebooked afterwards. Given that you agreed to this deal, we are sorry to hear that it didn’t go according to your expectations. This is not the experience we wish to offer to our guests at Folie. Please send your details at firstname.lastname@example.org, I would like to investigate this matter further. Best wishes, Laurel, General Manager
They forgot about the pre-arranged birthday dessert+candle
Dear Guest, We apologise for missing the pre-arranged candles. We wish all our guests to enjoy their celebration at Folie to the fullest. Best wishes, Folie’s Team
Very rude maitre d here. I walked out.
Wonderful London gem! French elegance and decor serving delicious culinary offerings. Attentive and friendly service. One of London’s best finds.
Wonderful food and the service was great. This was recommended to us and we can see why!
Lovely supper with charming service. Feels like a taste of Monaco. In Soho! To be hyper- critical the spaghetti with clams was only adequate but it takes an Italian chef to really do it well. Loved the tuna tartare and and the chicken paillard. The menu is on the pricy end of the spectrum which maybe is just how things are after lockdown - we are all so grateful to be dining out that we don’t complain about it … yet!
Dear Diner, Many thanks for taking the time to leave us this kind feedback. We are delighted that you enjoyed the tuna tartare, the chicken paillard and the service delivered by the team. We look forward to seeing you at Folie. Best wishes, Folie's Team
Always a pleasure, I love this place!
Charlotte was taking care of our table and we had an amazing service!
Food is amazing as well
Dear Madam, Sir, Many thanks for taking the time to leave us this great review! I will let Charlotte know that she helped you enjoy the night even more! We look forward to seeing you soon at Folie! Best wishes, Folie Team
Wonderful welcome... superb service... incredible food... amazing wine list... love this place!!
Dear Madam, Sir, Many thanks for this amazing review! We are delighted that you enjoyed your time at Folie! We look forward to seeing you again soon! Kind regards, Folie Team
Food was good, service crap!
Good but desserts not great
Croque monsieur felt like pretty poor value for money, don't mind the price but it was like like the size of an iphone with the crust cut off. Don't mean to come across as cheap but the bread basket for 1/3 of the price was waayy more generous. Niceoise salad looked good but nothing to write home about. Great terrace otherwise and nice staff.
It was a bad experience, would not recommend it to friends. The service was very slow and the food was not very good.
The staff were very welcoming and their knowledge of wine was excellent. There didn’t appear to be a lot of organisation so we were looked after by multiple people throughout the meal but that added to the charm for us; it had a Franco-feel and I love that.
I was a little disappointed by my main meal. I ordered the Dover Sole, which at £48 was (I think) the most expensive main meal choice. It was one of the two Fish of The Day so did not appear on the menu, as such I have no complaints about the price, in principle. However, it came with no sides and by the time it was de-boned (I will learn the craft myself one day!), it was cold. Upon reflection, £48 for a small piece of cold fish without any sides is a touch unreasonable. My wife ordered the steak and was not given the option of how it was to be cooked. This may have been because Chef makes the decision, which I have experienced at other restaurants. Again, no real complaints because if that was really going to be an issue, I’m sure the staff would have happily obliged our request for it to be cooked to a different level.
The choice of wines was vast (not a bad thing!) and, as mentioned earlier, the knowledge of the staff was excellent. I described my preference of wine by taste and not name, which was enough for the highly-knowledgable Waiter to suggest two perfect wines. I cannot praise the chap highly enough for this.
We had two excellent cocktails and I recommend the Old Fashioned. The flavours were perfectly distributed and balanced from start to finish; not always easy with this drink.
I was a little disappointed with my main but it will not be put me off giving the restaurant another go. Sometimes you get a vibe from a restaurant that it has a bit more to offer and this is one of them. A little disappointed? Yes. Put off entirely? No way.
Naturally, the inside of the restaurant was closed but walking through it I was blown away by the decor - it was so stylish.
Very nice service and good food. Quite expensive however
We were 15 late for our booking- I called over and over again but no response. So we were made to wait 35 mins standing in the cold before another table which mean that we didn’t have time to finish our meal! There are no heaters outside except for 5 tables
You know it was fine, food was good but small portions and nothing special really. I do rate their Mocktails though, these were inventive and tasty (and expensive considering there's no alcohol in them).
Brilliant experience even considering the outdoor dining rules on a fairly chilly evening. Warm and welcoming service, excellent food from beginning to end and great cocktails. Will definitely be returning.
Absolutely loved our evening at Folie - looking forward to visiting again soon.
A+ for service, cocktails and a wonderful ambiance.
The food, cocktails and vibe were great. Unfortunately no social distancing whatsoever, all tables too close to each other so when it got full, we were about half a meter from other people on each side.
Folie is a great place to hang out and have an amazing meal with great cocktails. Unfortunately there wasn't a lot of social distancing going on so we left promptly
pretty safe and uninspiring menu which is a shame as the room itself was very attractive. They desperately need to sort out the music as well, what was playing for the hour we were there was incredibly gentle / generic lift music meaning everyone was whispering... not the kind of atmosphere that appeals, much more reminiscent of a hotel lobby
Great ambience, music, service and delicious meal out with friends!
Great food from a interesting menu served by an attentive and friendly team. Drinks are good too!
I loved the food and ambiance so much. Ideal for any day of the week
End to End Amazing. The ambience, food quality, presentation and service were perfect :)
Great food and service, had the air conditioning dropping some water on us at one point but the staff went out of their way to fix it and make it up for us. Had a lovely evening and were well taken care of!
Don't hesitate, book and enjoy a fabulous ambience, outstanding service and great food in a truly stylish setting
This is an unexpected find in Golden Square. The food is packed with flavour and if you're a non meat eater, there's a good selection of dishes to choose from. Staff are friendly and professional and even though it wasn't that busy when we went, the atmosphere is warm and invitingly stylish. I'd recommend!
Our party of four had a fantastic evening at Folie last Saturday.
Food was exceptional with very attentive service.
Couldn't have asked for more.
We'll certainly be back in the very near future.
Dear Matt, Thank you for talking your time to leave your kind review. We are thrilled that you had such an amazing time with us! Looking forward to having you back at Folie! Warm regards, Folie Team
