Food Valley @ Four Saints Brig Y Don Hotel
I booked to celebrate my wife’s birthday attracted by the the long table and all you can eat buffet. I rang the hotel for directions and asked for details of the buffet. I was shocked to be told the buffet was not available this completely spoiled our plans. Seems this buffet idea is to get customers on a flakes product. We eventually had our meal delivered by emperors kitchen this on sea which was delicious
I would rather the buffet that they used to have than choose of the menu
We arrived, looking forward to an “all you can eat buffet” preferring small samples of a vast selection of multi-cultural foods.
In reality you can eat as much soup (pick from 2), salad and deserts (comprised of obvious shop bought cakes, mince pies and squirty cream). The limited desert options were a little stale. Left out in the open for a long time with children left to help themselves.
You can then choose 1 item from the mains, not all you can eat as described on their Website, Trade Description Act springs to mind.
To be fair, the food was better than expected, though we were surprised to find it has a 5* rating on the Conwy Council Food Hygiene. We were a table of 3 : we had rump steak, lamb shank and roast chicken dinner. The veg was obviously frozen and not enjoyable at all.
The menu was like a take away menu, this just cheapened the overall ambience.
The waiter, Jack if I remember right, was great, we couldn’t fault his service. That said, we didn’t have any food check backs, the dishes were not removed from our table and we pretty much felt “in the way” as we were the last guests.
Eugine, who we suspect may have been the barman, was on reception as we left. A very strong BO odour from him was our parting gift. We did chuckle that we were glad he was called Eugine and not Hygiene
Living locally, we chose this venue following an advert in a local newspaper, we won’t be returning any time soon.
When we arrived we expected the full buffet menu as mentioned on the website, it it's only unlimited salad, drinks(hot) and desserts. However the choice was excellent,we all had something different, soup, pate, cheese bites and orange juice. Our mains were excellent too and large portions,Cottage Pie,mixed grill, korma curry and salmon in parsley sauce. We all had desserts which ranged from cheesecakes , jellies, custards to Panna cotta. There was also a drinks machine serving tea, coffees and hot chocolate. All in all we had a lovely meal, with wine and cider for four people for £67. We'd definitely go back.
We were a little worried about dining following previous reviews but decided to see for ourselves and are glad that we did!!! 2 adults, 2 children and we couldn’t have been made anymore welcome than we were. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was excellent value and very tasty. We also had breakfast the following day and again it was faultless. A wide and varied range, very clean dining room and again nothing was too much trouble. A lesson for today is to make your own mind up and see for yourself!!!!!!
Dried up, poor quality food! Would never choose to eat here again!
Family birthday treat with the family. The website looked amazing! You turn up and it is the total opposite, all you can eat!! No way was it. Shocking food availability, no dishes stating on website they had including no pizzas! Poor service as the waiter did not understand English properly and was on his own along with smelling of body odour. Unlimited drinks more like they drink one and make it last! My son cut into a chicken and it was still pink. Overall it was genuinely shocking and poor. I would not recommend this to anyone. Serious work needs putting into food. I read reviews but I thought can’t be true from what I read on website. Please don’t waste your money like I did.
After booking was really looking forward to the meal the restaurant itself was very clean and lit well and that's where it ends the quality of the food was terrible the choices very poor and not at all fresh in my opinion there was a total of 3 tables and I believe because it was very quite that's the reason why food was in short supply. Deserts well what deserts a choice of 3 which where not great I know u can ask the staff for more but there was only 1 front of house guy and really replenishing of the food should be done automatically the best bit of the meal was the alcoholic drink that was included.
Unfortunately we walked in and walked straight back out again. It is nothing like it looks on their website. Walked down into a basement behind the bar man who smelled badly of body odour which was unpleasant enough to be lead down to where there were no other guests bar one person who was more than likely a hotel stayer . There were 2 very small hot counters with very poor quality food that I would hazard more of a guess was microwave food. Definitely not multi continental options. I go to all you can eat buffets and pay the same price for high quality restaurants and food, I would have only stayed if it was £5 a head. Would recommend to steer clear or for the restaurant to live up to its website. I was much happier eating else where and glad we left.
We had breakfast and evening meal all food was cooked just right lots of different food to choose from could not complain about anything so I would definitely recommend it
