Forage & Chatter Ratings and Reviews
Made this booking without checking any reviews, liked the look of the restaurant from the outside and the diplayed menus. Brought my wife and 2 friends for lunch, from making the online booking to leaving the restaurant at 3.15 it was a real pleasure. Hosts made us very welcome, their presentation and presence were top notch, unobtrusive but attentive, but the real plus was the quality of food. Best 3 coarses I have encountered for a while, fresh, tasty and ample. All reasonably priced ( except as usual ) the wine, but on an overall experience this was a highly rated restaurant and I would, and have recommended to others. Don't delay, go today!
We had very tasty fish starters and meals. Everything was lovely and especially the service was amazingly fast. The waiters were super attentive and we had a little surprise birthday fudge provided to us just for free. Would highly recommend it for a nice dinner on a weekday or a weekend. Really cosy and calm place where you can enjoy your food to the fullest.
Picked up this gem on tripadvisor and drawn to it by the reviews, menu and photographs. We were not disappointed. As soon as we arrived we were greeted pleasantly, our coats taken and lead to a lovely lounge area for a pre-dinner drink despite being over thirty minutes early!
Our servers were all very friendly and have a special mention for Ben from Hull who was excellent in terms of his attention, politeness and friendliness without being oppressive. His knowledge of the drinks and food menu was also outstanding.
To the food and drink - obviously used quality ingredients and they were cooked and arranged to perfection. On first sight I may have thought the portions were small, but once we got into eating the portion size was perfect as my wife and I were both able to then sample from the full extent of the menu - which in this place you have to do. Gorgeous appetiser of their signature dough balls with lovely spreads also. All night long our glasses were refilled - no extra charge for extra water etc, and we were never rushed with any of our decisions and never felt we were needed to vacate the table despite it being a Friday night and seeing unfortunate drop-ins turned away! Always worth booking in advance to guarantee a table.
To finish, being from out of town and wanting to continue our lovely evening we asked Ben if he could recommend a nice bar for a conversational couple to grab a drink on a Friday night. Once again the service was impeccable as he returned with a map to guide us on a ten minute walk from the restaurant to an amazing bar for couples and small groups to while away the hours over a special cocktail or beer. Just another part of the fantastic service Forage and Chatter offers.
In short, this is one place not to be missed for a special night out in Edinburgh.
An absolute gem of a restaurant. Amazing local ingredients cooked with a French twist and instilled with more flavour than you could ever imagine possible. Attentive service and a lovely atmosphere. Really special and half the price of some of the other better known Edinburgh restaurants where the food isn't even close to as good as it is here!
This was my second time here for lunch this year and I yet again I was extremely impressed. I opted for the fixed price menu which had some good options to choice from and when the food arrived you knew it was freshly cooked with good ingredients. The staff were all very attentive.
I would definitely recommend.
I was lucky to have found Forage & Chatter while booking my trip to Edinburgh. This restaurant is special. It has local charm, flavorful dishes and attentive service. If you are looking for a restaurant that is warm and welcoming with excellent food, try Forage & Chatter, you will not be disappointed. I hope that many others get to experience this lovely restaurant for years to come.
We went to Forage and Chatter based upon the favourable reviews and the set menu. We were not disappointed and had a marvellous time. Food was delicious. Service was spot on (friendly but not overbearing) and we really liked the feel of the place. We thought the lunch set menu represented excellent value for money and would highly recommend others to give this lovely little restaurant a try!
Cozy "little" place, ambient atmosphere, excellent service! We ordered in advance coming from abroad, everything clicked. We thank god for google maps or we would have walked right past it ;) Servants immediately asking for allergies and taking every measure that our evening could be comfortable, assisting with food and wine selection! Top marks from us.
We were visiting Edinburgh for the weekend and heard great things about this place, so I looked at booking an reservation for Saturday night. Unfortunately, it was fully booked so we took the option of lunch time and after our visit we completely understood why it is so hard to get a booking. Delicious food and wonderful service, a brilliant start to our weekend!
Intimate and relaxed atmosphere - loved the self room of small rooms that make up the restaurant. Food was of an excellent quality with creative ingredients which reflected the region. Flavours were well balanced, I enjoyed every course. Staff friendly and attentive without being invasive. Not cheap but good value for the level of quality . Overall one of the best restaurants I've been to.
