This was our second visit to the restaurant
The conservatory seating is definitely the place to dine as the seating in the other area was not to our liking The food and service was fabulous
Looking forward to our next visit

The food was amazing. While it's a bit more expensive than some, the quality is so good, so the value for your money is fantastic. The food is just so good, and the portion sizes aren't crazy but still quite filling. The ambience of the restaurant is so cozy and warm; it just has that beautiful sentiment to make it a wonderful night. And the wait staff is incredibly attentive. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Great food. Knowledgeable staff. For a business meal the food was fairly slow to arrive, but when it did it was excellent

First booking at this location for lunch with girlfriends, visiting from England, on Saturday last week. We all chose from the set lunch menu as there was something for all of us. The presentation of our choices and the standard of cooking was very good and all of us , as regular good quality restaurant visitors, were very pleased. Service was welcoming, efficient, helpful and friendly. It is in a basement location and the interior design has been done very well to create a nice ambience and vibe.
It was a lovely hot day in Edinburgh and my only comment about menu options was that I did not see salad/cold option on either the set lunch menu or main menu choices - maybe something to consider for this amazing summer weather we are enjoying.

We expected this to be good but sometimes well-reviewed restaurants can disappoint. Not this time. From start to finish, everything was perfect. Delicious food served by very professional and pleasant staff. Smallish and cosy restaurant but well designed and very attractive. The food was top notch; unusual and beautifully cooked and presented. The best of our Scottish holiday and an all round enjoyable experience. The roasted cauliflower starter was incredible and the Scottish strawberries and mini doughnut dessert delicious.

This was our first dining experience while on our Scotland trip, and it was a wonderful way to start it. Definitely in our top 3 restaurants that we visited during our trip. The food was delicious and very unique, and the service and welcome was exceptional. It's definitely a hidden gem (even though it is consistently one of the top rated in Edinburgh) away from the main touristy sections.

One of the most uncomfortable seats I have ever had in a restaurant. We were a party of 4 and were unanimous on this point. Very upright wooden seats like church pews. We didn’t linger and decided against deserts in favour of a drink elsewhere.

The food was good but perhaps overrated on tripadvisor.

Have been wanting to go to Forage & Chatter for a long time and it was definitely worth it. Great service and outstanding food. The waitress who seated us already asked for any intolerance and allergies and was 100% aware of what was possible and what wasn't. Highly recommended!

This is the type of restaurant which is sadly lacking elsewhere in Edinburgh where it is only too easy to pay a substantial amount for mediocre food and service at best.
Forage and Chatter have done their homework. We went there for lunch midweek. The menu, drinks and wine list are all of a high standard without being overly fussy or overpriced. The food, in particular, was delicious. Details including the excellent coffee were executed and presented well. Service was friendly and on the ball despite an initial blip when the waitress who showed us to our table left us a bit sharply before we could ask for a couple of drinks. That apart, it was all good. The ambience was relaxed and comfortable. Deserves to be considered amongst the top in Edinburgh and possibly the best for value. Will be back.

This was the second time I’d been here for lunch recently and it was a lovely lunch on both occasions.

Great value and excellent quality from the lunch fixed price menu. Service is attentive but not obtrusive.

Now up there as one of my favourite lunch venues.

I booked this for a solo lunch after seeing it in the Good Food Guide. When I was shown the fixed lunch menu I thought it was less imaginative than the samples on the website. How wrong I was! Asparagus cut in tiny slivers and then gently grilled, a miraculous poached egg, leek veloute poured over at the table, just a delight. Juicy cod served over a perfectly balanced smash of new potatoes and crunchy capers. Strawberries and cream defined by delicate meringue crumbs. Even an amuse-bouche of a deep-fried dough ball, herb pesto and mushroom-powder butter. Really incredible value at £17.95 for all that, and I highly recommend the Macedonian white wine too. I'll certainly be back.
