Amazing food at a very affordable price with lovely attentive service and intimate dining experience.
Food was delicious. Overall very good indeed considering restrictions due to pandemic.
We went to Forage and Chatter for my husband's birthday dinner. It was wonderful. The food was delicious, original, and well presented. The service was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was quiet and intimate, simultaneously high quality and relaxed. We had a wonderful evening.
Creative and detail oriented food. Attentive service. Clearly passionate about what they do.
Food was stunningly good for carnivores. Lamb and beef mains were of the highest quality. Partridge and duck starters were delightful too. Makes me wonder why game birds are not always on menus. Wine list was concise but very well priced. Distancing keeps the volume down and post lockdown on a Wednesday I wouldn't expect anything else. Possibly short staffed front of house but not to the detriment of the service. Excellent
Little bit on top with the whole mask thing if I am being honest. Seeing people turned away at the door being told no mask no entry (to the point the guy has to go and buy a mask - he’d been told covering up another way not suitable) another table of businessmen challenged if they were from more than 2 households (they got up and left). Understand a need to keep people safe but this has to be a balance, and end of the day going out to (what is still) a superb restaurant should feel like a treat : not a chore. There were much less “heavy handed” ways to deal with both cases here, and I hope the restaurant chances tack - simply allowing the first case to cover face with something would have worked , in second case maybe splitting the group into 2 1m apart would seem sensible.
This place is very nice inside, the staff are great and the service is very good. The food is good too, but not exceptional and portions are very small, and therefore we left feeling unfulfilled. We did like the selection of local beers. We arrived quite early, but there was no music and so we felt a little awkward where we were sitting. The value for money is also questionable given the small portions. Overall - nice, but not exceptional and not worth the expense (£90 for two).
Like eating in a library. Zero atmosphere. Food portions as expected were small but also disappointingly tasteless. No wow tastebud factor to justify the very high prices. Can’t understand why it gets such great ratings. Service was polite but the recommended additional potatoes for two dishes that already came with potatoes was just very strange. Much better restaurants elsewhere in Edinburgh.
We enjoyed our experience in Forage & Chatter - a warm welcome and pleasant ambience.
It was good to see other clients in the restaurant and, indeed, there was a steady stream in the course of the two hours we spent there.
The menu was not large but each dish we had was flavourful and beautifully presented.
The bottle of Brouilly set of the food.
All in all, an excellent way to spend the evening.
We’ve been several times recently, so maybe we’re too familiar with the menu - the beef was only OK in terms of quality (we had the lamb 10 days ago and it was super)
The greeting system isn’t great - you arrive, no one there, you walk through to the bar, and meet a very accomplished server who then takes you back to the front counter to check you in - technology should be simpler to manage restaurant in a more efficient way - We’re local, so we’ll be back
Beautiful surroundings, and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Marmite butter to start killed me - so good. The food and drinks were exceptional and we could have stayed all night. We’ll be back in a hurry.
Really very excellent food, drinks, staff and atmosphere. Would easily recommend to anyone looking for somewhere unique to celebrate or to impress with
Quality produce, expertly cooked and well presented. Good, unfussy service in nice, rustic surroundings. We'll be back for sure.
Excellent food, good quality and excellent price point for the meal! Thanks for a wonderful lunch :)
Had zero complaints. Delicious food, excellent service and it's a lovely restaurant.
Lovely menu with beautifully presented dishes in pretty surroundings. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and we had a really nice evening at the restaurant. A bit of a hidden gem in Edinburgh, would recommend.
The food was delicious and the price was right. Nice evening.
We had an amazing dinner.
The food was superb and the service was lovely.
Food was excellent service was very good
Small menu , everything wonderful. Really delicious fresh food, beautifully cooked and presented . Great wine pairing advice. Friendly efficient staff and nice ambience. Excited to go back soon.
My partner and I visited Forage and Chatter on our first night in the city, the menu itself was thoughtful and encompassing. The wine’s partnered our food choice perfectly and the cooking was incredible. All round excellent experience and can’t wait to return
The food here was beyond my expectations, one of the best I have eaten at outside a Michelin Star, I can not recommend enough
Amazing food, assertive staff, adaptive to dietary requirements. Highly recommend
Loved our evening, the team were super welcoming and funny. They were attentive without being distracting. Great local Gins and the food was all super tasty, we had all the starters and all the puddings to share and did not regret it!
I thought the food was perfect but we booked a table on Thursday night for 6pm and were definitely being hurried out the door at 8, although we had not been told we had to hand the table back after two hours. This should be made clear, as it seemed we could not take our time but were made to feel we had to leave (although no one actually said so) - the waiter came a few times to see if we would like to make our way to the front to pay...not good but the food was fab!
Pleasant helpful staff. Food was very nice. Would like to call again next time I am up hthat way.
Food was amazing. Staff were lovely. Made to feel very comfortable and safe
Great tasting food and produce, will return again!
Had a fantastic meal here on Saturday night. It’s a small, quirky venue reached by steps down. We sat in a conservatory extension which had plenty of light through the panes of rooftop glass. My starter of pork belly was very good but it was eclipsed by am absolutely superb special of grouse breast accompanied by a grouse keg cottage pie. The grouse breast was wonderfully moist and tender - real melt in your mouth stuff. Plenty of a rich gravy too. Pudding was a miso chocolate mousse - absolutely superb.
A great experience, lovely, friendly atmosphere and amazing food. Thank you.
Food was absolutely delicious, portions were on the smaller side which on the plus side meant you could have three courses quite easily and thus taste more of the amazing food but on the down side pushes the price of the meal up a bit. Still would wholeheartedly recommend.
Absolutely brilliant experience. Waiting staff is polite, friendly and ready to help and explain the dishes to you. Nice, calming ambience with a good vibe. Superb dishes - meat melts in your mouth and is complimented well by various pures and sauces. Appealing presentation. Will be coming back!
Amazing. Second time there. Just as brilliant as the first.
Flavours delightful and different. Staff have that ability to be really attentive without being annoying. Food really is exceptionally good. No music because of regulations, but still a lovely atmosphere. Can't wait for my next visit.
This was our second visit to Forage and Chatter and it did not disappoint. It was just as good as first time around. The food and service can only be described as outstanding. Highly recommend the pork belly as a starter and short rib as a main from the lunch menu.
We had a wonderful evening on Saturday at this restaurant. The service is excellent and the food was some of the best and most creative we have had in a while. Very flavourful and well presented. We can’t wait to go back!
The restaurant was very quiet so lacked a bit of atmosphere. The food was delicious
Lovely food and drinks, really nice location. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. 🙂
We were the only diners which gave us an opportunity to talk with the owner. They are doing their best in a difficult time. Super food. Lovely flavours. We ate from the set menu which was great value. I had tomato salad and sirloin perfectly cooked and the most delicious chocolate mousse. Beautifully presented, lovely flavours and service with a smile, albeit behind a mask! Thank you
Stunning food. The starters arrived quickly and were delicious; with subtle flavours that played beautifully against each other. I paired my pork belly with a Paolozzi beer which was recommended and worked very well. Mains were both excellent as well. Though my sirlion could have been EVEN rarer as I asked for it blue. However, I understand chefs are sometimes cautious about this and it was at least rare. I paired this with a gorgeous Beaujolais that more than made up for it anyway! Desert was on another level completely... I am not usually a big sweet eater but I cannot fault the Dark Chocolate Miso Caramel, it was stunning. Hats off to the chef, the staff and the owner. We would happily come back in a heartbeat.
