The restaurant itself is beautiful and has so much character. The service was very friendly and professional. And the food... Well it was beautifully presented, good portion sizes and tasted fantastic. Would definitely go again and would highly recommend.

Beautifully presented food. Every mouthful was a delight to taste. The wine list was interesting and reasonably priced. My only criticism was that the lights were flickering which was disconcerting because if some sort of fault. Not bad enough to spoil an excellent evening.

Fantastic setting really friendly greeting great menus we had the venison and scallop to start they were both really good just a bit more venison would be great next time for mains we had lamb and beef rib both were really good all in all a great experience. Outstanding meal during our stay in Edinburgh! The food was inventive and delicious, service
attentive without being hovering and ambience warm and cozy. Our dining experience at Forage
& Chatter was the most impressive of our 10 evenings in the UK.

Food was excellent value for money given the incredible standard it was cooked to and the profiles of the plates on offer. Staff were attentive yet unobtrusive. Will be making a return visit next time im in Edinburgh

At first we went to the restaurant without reservation and sorry guys, no way to get in. But the crew was incredibly friendly and they advised us to book a table next time. And so we did. Luckily for us, the very next day was available, and we had a wonderful experience: dishes tasted delicious, we chose the mushroom risotto and it was amazing. We’d definitely recommend Forage&chatter!!!

The overall experience was great, our server was a bit reserved but the food and the price was outstanding!

I have visited Forage and Chatter a number of times and it never disappoints. The food was excellent, well presented and service was discreet. The Sancerre was first class and perfectly accompanied the meal. Overall we had a very good experience and I would happily recommend the restaurant.

Absolutely delicious and gorgeous plates of food. It was such a treat. The menu is seasonal and cooked perfectly. Plus the staff and the atmosphere were fantastic! I'd definitely recommend.

We went here for an anniversary meal. The food was beautiful, my husband had the venison carpaccio and I had the stone bass cervice for start and then we both had halibut for main and pistachio mouse for dessert. Everything was delicious and well thought out, the flavours complimented each other and everything was cooked perfectly. The restaurant itself is cosy and the numerous plants and candles make it pretty but not fussy, there is a relaxed friendly vibe. The staff were attentive and friendly without being obtrusive. I would definitely recommend forage and chatter for a special meal.

Had a date night with my husband and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. The welcome was lovely and our waiter, Liam, was excellent to say the least. Each aspect of the menu was explained and we opted to have wine suggested by Liam with each of our courses and the choices were great. The food was of good portion sizes and tasted really great. The scallop starter was cooked really well and I love my seafood. Atmosphere was lovely and there was no rush on us at all even for a Friday evening which was great. Will definitely revisit.

Fabulous food and great service in attractive surroundings. We had the lunch menu which was £14.95 for two courses and was excellent value. The food was perfect and the service was attentive but not intrusive. Only one slight complaint in that the part of the restaurant we were seated in was not heated and was very cold!

Excellent food and service although a reduced lunch menu price should be on offer,it is expensive for lunch.
The ambience again is affected by the lack of diners and I think the prices have an effect in this but let me say the food is excellent

Lovely lovely food at Forage & Chatter. We had the venison and the pigeon to start and the beef and then risotto for mains. We couldn’t fault either of them. We also had a delicious chocolate and coconut dessert.

Went for a slightly late lunch so the restaurant was quite quiet. The food was excellent, we went a la carte but the fixed price looked excellent value. Service was discrete and professional but with enough warmth. Very enjoyable.

Lovely meal. The various small rooms that make up the restaurant keep the noise level down. The food presentation was lovely. Would highly recommend for an evening out.

Fue genial, la verdad, en todos los aspectos, estaba muy bien de precio, la camarera que nos atendió además hablaba español y fue muy atenta con nosotros, el ambiente es muy romántico si vas con una pareja, como fue nuestro caso y nos pusieron en una mesa apartada. Muy recomendable.

It was my 50th birthday and this wasn’t mentioned although had been specified at booking. Set menu wasn’t available on a Saturday but this was not made clear on the website. Portion sizes were small and we are not big eaters. Food was good and cooked well. A lot of thought had gone into the menu just a pity there wasn’t a little more of it. Waiters could have recommended side dishes.

Finally made it here for lunch after having to rearrange our initial booking. Restaurant is in a lovely setting that works well with the ethos of the place. I had the pigeon breast for starter followed by the lamb. Both pieces of meat were expertly cooked and the accompaniments were a perfect match. Will definately be back.

Never fails to please from the yummy ‘dough ball’ served with whipped butter and pesto to the unusual and interesting menu. Today I lunched with my Dundee cousin who was very impressed with the set lunch. I had a cold asparagus gazpacho with slow cooked egg which was very different to the usual lunch fare and had real depth of flavour. The chicken terrine was delicious too. We both had pigeon with curry - fabulous! No sweet but enjoyed a leisurely bottle of Shiraz over our equally leisurely lunch. Always enjoy F & C and it’s great value for really good quality dining. Thoroughly recommend - I’ll be back!

Best meal I've had in Edinburgh. Just Fantastic. The food was fresh, cooked perfectly and the deserts were divine.

What do you do about someone at the next table who seems incapable of speaking quietly? I relented to my companion who thought that asking said person to shut up was not a good idea ... Altogether a pity, as it detracted from what would otherwise have been a very pleasant meal. Good food, affordable wines and very good and cheerful service. I thought that the decor didn't quite fit with the elegance of the food. Don't go there if you seek big portions. Perhaps a little on the expensive side.
