Took friends for a pre-theatre dinner. Book, they were turning non booked customers away at 18.00 on a Wednesday. Prompt friendly service, well priced varied menu, we were through two courses by 19.15 so it all worked well. I enjoyed melon and risotto, the spaghetti clams were also a hit. Quite noisy, but that is inevitable at this time and in this location.
Amazing Italian food as always, sooooo tasty
Went for my birthday dinner with my girlfriend and everything was great. Food was nearly perfect - both my gf's ravioli and my sea bass (so soft and rich in flavor) were amazing, not to mention very good arancini and decent pistachio tiramisu (dessert was probably the only little letdown of the night, but only because the bar was set very high by the main courses). Service was very friendly and attentive, yet not overwhelming. A rather dark, very cozy place, with fine and authentic decor. Pleasant, not too loud 80s music made us watch Miami Vice after getting back home. Would definitely recommend for a date or small dinner with friends or family.
had the set menu for 4 people fantastic little restaurant near the theatre, lovely food, lovely waiters and lovely price thank you would highly recommend unfortunately we had to rush out at the end as our show was starting otherwise would have stayed longer
He food was ok.
Oysters too watery and salty
Sea-bass was very good but the pasta was to creamy
Not organic wines on the menu
A little gem 💖 I look forward to returning a.s.a.p.
Overall we enjoyed it and would go back. Only disappointment was the inclusion of a service charge (despite it being stated as optional on the menu). This is a real bugbear for me and without exception I will ask any restaurant to remove it and re-present the bill. I have no problem with tipping as I think fit which is usually more than is often reflected by those serving actually warrant but that is my choice. If it’s going to be added automatically then put the menu prices up. Normally staff do not object but there was some resistance in this instance although it was done politely. However, as this usually occurs just before you leave the restaurant it is this dialogue that stays in the mind and subtracts somewhat from than the overall experience that was very positive.
Very good food and attentive staff. The garlic bread with mozzarella was great, as was the pasta. Would definitely come back whenever to London again!
Great fast service with lovely food and friendly staff. Great location for a pre theatre meal. Food and drink served quickly even though it was a busy Saturday evening.
Forty Dean Street is fabulous, we went as a party of 6 for a birthday and had a great meal. The service was incredible, all the staff were friendly and fun. Would definitely go back!
Buzzy restaurant in heart of Soho. Great food and staff very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back. Thank you!
Poor service & average food. Waitress was very rude when I pointed out black & white “bits” floating in a glass of wine. We were sitting outside & she suggested the bits had “fallen from above”! & seemed disgusted I wanted it changed. Overall service was slow. Food disappointing- especially for the cost! Wouldn’t go back.
We had the set menu which is excellent value but limited choice and when I have previously eaten a la Carter I have enjoyed it much more. We went at lunch but I recommend going in the evening for better buzz, that said we had a lovely table and enjoyed the music
We had lunch on Saturday 3rd August and there were six of us dining and our dog Basil. We all received a lovely welcome and they brought a bowl of water for Basil and some treats 😊.
We all had wonderful starters, mains and desserts and the wine was very tasty, we will definitely be returning as this is an amazing restaurant.
Great food in a lovely atmosphere - very well priced for great quality food.
The service was shocking. If they carry on like this normally they won’t be in business for long.
Dear Karen, I'm so sorry you didn't have a good experience. I would love to discuss this further with you, please contact me on firstname.lastname@example.org m Many thanks
Great service, and very nice food make this our favourite Soho restaurant.
Amazing delicious food!
One of those restaurant where you can create special moments in life. Great food, atmosphere, service and a top aperol spritz
We arrived early but were quickly accommodated. The cocktails are lovely and the food is excellent. As a party of six, covering all ages and including a vegetarian, it was lovely for everyone to be really pleased with their food choices. Thank you also for the friendly service.
Really not terribly impressive. The smoked mozarella starter was chewy. The lasagne was so-so. Service pleasant, but restaurant on my night was really noisy.
The food is very tasty, I tried the lobster ravioli and it's not a big portion, but just the perfect size for me. My friend had the avocado and halloumi salad and really enjoyed it.
Good food, delicious wine. Prompt service. They don’t stock non-alcoholic beer so borrowed one bottle from next door ... had to give up for the refills. Also no grappa to finish with.
We’d reserved but were told we had only 90mins when we sat down. We said OK but ignored the implied urgency, and enjoyed the whole meal until it became too noisy for us. Anyway, good value for food and ambience.
I’ve tried some amazing pizza in london, all home made. However, when I went to Forty Dean Street last week for a reunion with one of my non-Londoner best friends, I was not impressed. I thought I’d take her somewhere really nice to show off the great food soho hosts, and Forty DS appeared to fit the criteria perfectly. The pizza could’ve (and may have) been a frozen pizza that they just popped in the oven for a bit, then poured a little bit of truffle oil on top to make it seem fancy. It went cold really quick, and on top of this the service was pretty poor.
Beautiful food. Lovely little restaurant. Will defintely be back
Amazing location, wonderful ambience, lovely service and dining experience.
Great food, lovely welcome, nice wines, inexpensive and good quality. The service is great, they are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Great place and great food but dessert was ok. The noise level was too high. Great service!
Amazing food and ambience. Personal favourite for lovely Italian food ! Seabass is my absolute fav!
Excellent food as usual, nice staff, we had a lovely dîner
I don't think this restaurant -or any other - should allow dogs in. In fact I thought it was again the law. But there it was, with what looked like a dog's bowl of water on the floor nearby.
Dear Peter, We pride ourselves on being dog friendly, I'm sorry it wasn't for you. Best wishes,
Busy night. Had a good table one of our waiters was rather brusque but the manager and Massimo very friendly. Nice touch to have s free glass of limoncello
Had a great lunch at 40 Dean Street to celebrate my friends birthday, good value for money
I planned a surprise meal for my friends who were travelling from abroad at Forty Dean Street and was extremely happy with everything. The value and quality of the food was fantastic and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The variety on the menu was also great. The staff also agreed to help with the surprise element of the dinner with seating arrangements, cake and birthday music which put a special touch on the evening. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to all friends and family and will be returning very soon!
I'm so glad that you found the staff helpful and friendly, we like to do our best to ensure that everyone has a great experience particularly if it's a special occasion! We will look forward to seeing you soon.
When a restaurant is a family run Italian restaurant & has been in business for over 15 years in Soho, you know that it must be good.
This is ideal for either a quick catch up with friends, a romantic dinner or pre-theatre meal. The staff are attentive, the food is amazing & the atmosphere is friendly. Whilst we eat, it became obvious that other customers were regulars, as they were greeted by the staff .
We will return.
Great location and service. Lovely set lunch menu with plenty of choice and excellent value.
I'm glad you enjoyed the set menu, it is often changing and showcases our newest dishes. It's become even better value as we're now offering a small glass of the house white/red with it!
The restaurant was quiet but still very pleasant. Food and service were both good. I would certainly visit again and recommend the reastaurant to friends. It's also very well positioned for theatres and sighteeing. Just be careful when visiting the basement toilets - the stairs are steep and start immediately after the door!
Another lovely evening courtesy of welcoming staff & efficient service despite it being a busy Friday night. Super food, as ever - though it’d be nice if the options for vegetarians were a bit more adventurous. Everyone joined in the ‘happy birthday’ for my husband when staff presented him with his candlelit choc brownie - nice touch which we all enjoyed.
Hi Kim, Thank you for your feedback. We're thrilled that you enjoyed your meal and that you were happy with the level of service. We do try to go the extra mile. I will pass your comments regarding vegetarian options to the chef. Best wishes,
Service was 6 out of 5. Polite, attentive, and warm. Food was excellent. Fantastic value esp given the other restaurants in the same road.
Thank you for your feedback, we pride ourselves on our service and affordable prices so we're glad you had an enjoyable experience. Please do come and see us again soon!
The food was so good, service was very attentive, the owner is fabulous. Lovely time there will definitely come a
