Wonderful little place. A real gem
Fantastic food and great service
Beautiful little restaurant in Soho. The food was very tasty and good value for money. They did however run out of olives and didn’t really offer anything else as an alternative.
This is my second visit and I would definitely come back.
Great quaint Italian restaurant! I had the lamb rump and my husband had the sea bass. Both dishes were awesome. Will definitely come back for more.
Nice atmosphere. Food OK. Nothing special but it seemed independent and not a chain which is good
Welcoming, fairly untrendy restaurant, in a convenient Soho location, convenient for, say, tourist family outings. Menu is quite long, mainly Italian. Not exciting, but pretty competent. Friendly service.
Booked all our family in for our yearly after pantomine dinner. Food was beautiful. Staff very good, looked after us really well. Could not fault it, will be back for the Lobster Ravioli again very soon.
Small friendly, cosy Italian in Soho It was very close to the theatre we had been to. Staff were welcoming and efficient. Food was fine and tasty with a good choice on the menu. Reasonable prices for London. Convenient only 5 minutes walking distance from Leicester Square Tube Station.
We arrived having booked and confirmed a table for four.
"Sorry we do not have any space !"
They had over booked or over accommodated (a large party) and so there was no tables left for us.
Really disappointed ... this is not the kind of experience I was expecting.
Turfed out onto the street having to find an alternative establishment.
Fortunately there are plenty of other very nice restaurants on Dean Street.
Just what I needed....even though I didn't know I needed it! A hidden gem
We’ve visited 40 Dean Street several times. This time was after a matinee performance of Mary Poppins. We were celebrating my grandson’s 5th Birthday.
Though the restaurant does not have a kid’s menu, they were very helpful in splitting dishes. The food is well presented and good portions. Excellent service.
You are spoilt for choice when it comes to restaurants in this part of London. 40 Dean Street is an independent family run establishment and well worth visiting.
Great atmosphere and best value. Staff are welcoming and professional. A real find. Highly recommended
First visit and will certainly not be the last
Very convenient for theatres
Good food speedily served
Very pleasant staff
We went to Forty Dean Street for a family lunch and found the ambience, music and staff just right. It has a relaxing, informal feel. The meal was nicely paced and my pan fried tiger prawns for starter and sea bass main were delicious. The other members of my family agreed that the food was tasty. My mum especially liked the chicken livers. For a reasonably priced, authentic Italian meal we would be happy to return when next in London. Thank you.
We arrived on time for our booking and the restaurant was closed.
Very busy restaurant on Friday evening. Our table was not ready when we arrived and there was no room to stand at the bar and have a drink, which meant that we had to stand outside, there were heaters out there fortunately, and we were given complimentary Prosecco whilst we waited. The food and service were both excellent. I checked the bill when it was presented and it was correct, however I didn't notice that a service charge of 12 1/2% had already been added separately at the bottom of the bill and we left a £20 tip on top of this, which we wouldn't have done had we realised, so I guess we paid for the prosecco. Just something to be aware of.
The food was okey. Nice ambiance but we have to wait 30 min because when we came there were no table even though I made reservation and confirm it.
The food and service Forty Dean Street was pretty good.
Given the very central location this is a find - a cosy friendly Italian restaurant, not expensive, decent food, good atmosphere. It was quite noisy when we went so for a large party might be a bit of a struggle to hear everyone, but for small groups it's fine. Would recommend and will definitely return!
The two courses were worth the £16.95 price. Food was okay but not great, service again was okay. We were sat right next to the till where waiters were discussing bills and customers
Was a great little restaurant but service a little slow .
A lovely restaurant with a great ambience and what felt like a lot of regular customers. Delicious food, excellent service and friendly hard-working owner and staff. We ordered a variety of dishes to share which were all delicious including starters, pizzas and a delicious ragu pasta, we will definitely be going again and recommending to friends!
Friendly, cosy restaurant. Food very well cooked and served, good value for money.
Only downside, having been served coffee, we were told the table was needed (table was booked at 5.45 and we were asked to vacate table at 7.20.) and rather rushed out! When booking, I wasn’t made aware of a time restriction on the table.
I was introduced to Forty Dean street by a customer of mine about seven years ago and have dined here many times. We live on the south coast but whenever I come to London I always try and have a meal here. This particular occasion was part of my parent's 51st wedding anniversary celebrations before we went on to see a show. The menu options were excellent as was the quality of the food and exceptional service. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys quality food, great service and a good atmosphere. Thank you for a lovely evening, we will be back!
Friendliest waiters ever! And the food was so good, for a fraction of the Price of what you would pay elsewhere. Will definitely be coming back here for sure!
What a find!
The best whitebait starter and soft chicken liver with caramelized red onion. Pasta and gnocchi also delicious. Great value Primitivo at £20.
Will definitely return.
An excellent Italian restaurant in a great location. We were celebrating our daughters 18th, and the staff were so friendly and courteous. Food was absolutely delicious, and so was the wine. We ate a 4pm on a Saturday, so had their special value two courses for £12.90, which I have to say is superb for London!! We'll definitely be back if wee find ourselves in the area again. Belisimo!!!
One of my go-to restaurants in the West End. Either for a fast pre-theatre dinner or a more leisurely dining experience
Good value for money and a great atmosphere. We had lots to eat from the set lunch menu and it was all very tasty. Very well situated in the heart of Soho.
Cannot fault my visit to 40 Dean Street. Warm greeting on arrival, table prepared, attractive staff , food first class. Definitely returning.
This restaurant is so cozy and romantic. My friend and I decided on Forty Dean street to celebrate her birthday and immediately decided it’s the perfect date spot. We started with the courgette flowers which were perfectly crispy that was on top of a delicious smoky sweet sauce. Our mains were the lobster ravioli and chicken milanese with spaghetti. The portions were large and both of the dishes were very flavourful. We had sides of fried courgettes and seasonal greens which were both very tasty. The service was amazing, the prices were fair and the bread basket had me coming back for more. I would definitely go back and try another pasta dish.
We spent good time there.
Lovely nice place with well prepared food at a very reasonable price, especially for Soho. Good service with friendly but in intrusive staff. My only criticism is that it’s very noisy.
Good value for money. A restaurant to recommend for anyone visiting Soho.
Delicious food , generous portion sizes, friendly staff , cosy ambience away from the Piccadilly buzz .
A fabulous restaurant. Food is excellent and the ambience is very warm and friendly. Very clean and also a very enjoyable experience. Highly recommend as also in the heart of Soho
Very attentive waiting staff. Made it a very pleasurable experience
Table booked for 7:15pm - even at 7:40 they still weren’t able to seat us. Left and went elsewhere...
Fabulous meal and excellent value for money.
Staff were very attentive
Would highly recommend
Booked on open table app, got confirmation of booking. Arrived at reataurant and they wouldn't take us despite table being confirmed. Stated didn't know why it was confirmed on open table when they had no space. Can't comment on food, ambience etc as we never got to eat there. We spent tl30 minutes after that walking around in the rain to try find a restaurant. Ruined our weekend in London.
