It was a birthday dinner for my wife and nephew and deliberately reminded them to celebrate as part of my reservation and a phone call with the representative but no one took this into consideration. Looks like no one was taking notes. Very disappointing service…the food was good and on time. Little confusing as three different servers were taking care.. one was taking orders for drinks, and other one was taking orders for main course..

The food here was excellent. Staff were very attentive throughout our dining experience. The restaurant is very cosy and the tables are very close together but not so close that you can't have your own conversation. Toilets were clean and the atmosphere in the restaurant is buzzing. The noise gets louder as the night progresses. We had an early dinner as we were going out afterwards and it was very quiet around 4pm but when we left at 6.45pm the restaurant was in full swing. Perfect restaurant to have a meal with friends or a romantic date. I would recommend this little gem in Soho and I will definitely be going back.

Unfortunately, not our best experience. I usually love this restaurants but this time few things went wrong - firstly, we were seated right next to the door outside and it was a cold evening, probably around 12 degrees. We were cold even with our jackets on. We were luckily moved slightly closer to the wall later but continued to be cold throughout the night. Secondly, next to us was a huge dog on a persons lap - his face was right next to our table which made us uncomfortable and annoying, not to mention unhygienic. The person with the dog was not considerate at all of others around but more concerned of shouting loudly with her friend appearing very drunk. Luckily, they were moved outside but having a huge dog in a restaurant next to where other people eat is very inconsiderate. Finally, it took almost 90 minutes after appetisers for our mains for arrive - a really unacceptably long. No one even came to check up on us during that time or let us know the food was held up. We had plans to go for drinks after dinner but by the time we finished it was 11pm, our reservation started at 8pm. Overall, many things went wrong and with good staff communication we could have been more understanding but no one said anything really. Shame because I have loved this place but will now reconsider coming back especially on special occasions like this night was when my in-laws were visiting from New York.

Good food and restaurant week bonus of a glass of bubbly however the waitress unnecessarily rushed us to order, etc. which just felt uncomfortable. Pity as it's one of my favourite restaurants in London

Once again Forty Dean Street did not disappoint. Great service, melt in the mouth pasta and really buzzy atmosphere.

Food was great, was recommended the seafood linguine (I generally try to avoid seafood in touristy parts of town), but this was plentiful and the pasta was home made which was perfect! The courgette flower and pistachio tiramisu were really good also. Service was mostly attentive, but welcoming, although it was busy and we did find ourselves having to try and make eye contact to track them down at times. We were also sat next to the dumb waiter which was quite noisy. The aesthetic was cosy, however it can be quite loud in there if you’re trying to have a conversation. Overall, food was great and would totally recommend if you’re after some decent authentic Italian in this part of town.
