Founding Farmers - DC
Worst service I have ever had. Took an hour plus to get our food and they forgot one of our dishes. Took 20 minutes from sitting down to get water.
Loved it as usual; a bit crowded for Fathers’ Day but otherwise terrific
Poor service - has about 5 people serve us altogether, none of them did anything we really wanted to. Asked for lemons for our water twice - never got them. Asked for ketchup for my fries - never got it. Waited about 10 minutes for my change when we went to pay. Overall just ridiculous and food was mediocre. Would not return to this locations
We were there for Father’s Day. We frequent this place so we weren’t surprised at how busy it was. We were seated about 15 min past our reservation time. The kitchen and bar were apparently slammed. Our appetizer came out before the drinks. It took 1.5 hours before our entrees arrived. The server mildly apologized but was fairly unbothered by our wait time.
When you make a reservation one would expect to have a table. I get some things happen, but we waited an hour after our reservation for a table because someone had taken ours. The food was amazing, however the inefficient routine before being seated was not worth it.
We booked in advance as recommended by a friend who had been before. Thank goodness we did as it was Fathers Day and was literally queued out the door with a ton of people waiting outside to be seated. The system worked well though, once you had checked in you waited until someone called your name and took you to your table.
Our waitress was first class, brought us water and menus then took drink orders while giving us menu recommendations. The wine was chilled and the cocktails were potent. The food was top notch - light fluffy pancakes, hearty breakfasts and the beignets TRY THEM!!! Even though they were packed we weren’t rushed in any way. I’ve put the noise level as a three because of how busy it was but that made it all the more enjoyable as we were worried it would be quiet!!!! Would definitely recommend and will definitely return when I come back to DC.
Go. You won’t be disappointed.
The food is great as usual. Given that it was a holiday, the staff were stressed and impatient, and the seats were messy with grease and crumbs. This place is a DC institution with so many great reviews, but its starting to feel like they don't care to be hospitable any more.
Great food and amazing customer service. The waiting area was frustrating to say the least. Maybe it was just because it was father's day weekend but overall loved it. Avocado toast and egg whites was everything, so good.
Well, what we got was exactly what some of the bad reviews said and yet we still went. So my bad? Had brunch reservations, waited 25 minutes to be seated. Waited a loooooong time for our food. Coffee did NOT happen until WAY after the food came out (which we had to keep asking for, to me brunch is about the coffee)! Only got one cup, refills never happened.! The beignets we ordered came out long after we were done eating our entrees.! We had to ask about coffee, we had to ask about our food, we had to ask about the beignets, we asked for the check cuz we just needed to leave. Not a fun experience. Sad.
Didn’t get silverware until after we received our appetizers, waiter didn’t tell us anything about the menu when we sat down, got my food and it was wrong and I told the waiter and it took over 20 mins to get a side of risotto that they missed on my meal. Needed refills of water and waiter was no where in sight so I asked the hostess. I heard so many great things about this place and the service just severely missed tonight. My food was good but the service trumped everything. The manager took our apps off the bill so that was the highlight.
Food was tasteless and thought is would be better.
Found large bone in chicken pho pie and told waiter who did nothing.
Fish was over cooked and service very slow
Had been there before and my memory it seemed better and tastier.
Great food, a little pricey for the atmosphere. But I do recommend.
THIS LOCATION IS POORLY MANAGED! Don’t make a reservation bc either way you’re going to wait an hour. Then the servers don’t realize that appetizers should come out with drinks (or shortly after) not the entree! I am so disgusted! Manage your reservations and wait staff. The reason there is such a wait is bc the servers are chatting and inefficient! Period.
When my name was called, the hostess walked my party around the first floor, unable to find our table and politely asked us to continue to wait. Them she asked us to meet her up on the second floor, where she walked us around and still couldn't find our table. Then she found it, and as it hadn't been bussed yet, she asked us to turn around and head back to the stair case while they cleaned it. The process of getting our table was very unorganized and chaotic, and though our server was perfectly nice and did his job well, he also disappeared for long periods of time and wasn't super attentive. The food was good, maybe just not worth all of the running around to get it.
This was a return visit to Founding Farmers - a request of my daughter who has been dreaming of their chicken and waffles since our last visit a year ago. She was not disappointed, and neither was I. Great flavors and freshness of the vegetables, great service, and well-priced.
We went for our Anniversary. The beignets were amazing and we got the breakfast special that was fresh but nothing special. The bacon was amazing! Lemonade superb ! Will come back and try something else. Make sure you reserve your spot before going or you’ll wait forever .
We went as a group of 6 for Saturday brunch. The food wasn't terrible but none of our food came to us hot or even relatively warm for that matter. Our waiter wasn't very attentive, but it could've just been a busy morning.
Thank you, Virginia for sharing your feedback with us. I am so sorry to read that the food was basically lukewarm when delivered, and your server was somewhat inattentive during your brunch visit this past Saturday. We appreciate you letting us know and our Management & Culinary Team will address these oversights with our staff that worked this weekend. That said, we hope you'll give us another try and please call us at 202-822-8783 for any reservation help needed. -Amy
Eventhough I had a reservation it took them more than half an hr to seat us. I felt that beats thw purpose of having a reserved a table in advance
Second time there. It was great.
Hello Founding Farmers,
The food was delicious and the service great. My family and I have plans to return.
Outstanding food, superb service & excellent Arnold Palmer
First time at your restaurant and loved everything about it! Food was fantastic. Will definitely be back.
Amazing food and amazing service. It felt like I was back home, eating fresh on the farm with my friends. The food was easily the freshest, deepest flavors I’ve tasted in DC.
We love this restaurant chain. Food is delicious. We had never been to this location and it seemed a bit crowded.
Great food. Quick service. Friendly staff.
Fabulous meal, Michelin level service.
WOW! What a grand compliment! :D Thank you so much and we hope to have you back soon. -Amy
The food was delicious but the waiter was very forgetful. We asked him for the check but he didn’t bring it to us so we had to ask someone else and he forgot our drink orders. Also, one of the orders had the wrong side. However, the food was delicious.
Went with my two kids and spouse. Food was delicious (bread appetizer with prosciutto and figs, chicken pot pie, chicken and waffles, and two cheeseburgers with side of green veggies). Server timely and courteous. Only negative is that restaurant is a bit too loud for my taste.
We enjoyed our evening at Founding Farmers! Our waiter had a lovely personality - he was super attentive and answered all of our questions! Our meal was perfect and we look forward to visiting again soon!
Our server tried to rush us while we were trying to finish dinner.
Super slow service even with reservation but the food is spectacular.
Great to be able to get some high quality vegetarian food. Service was also excellent
Great service, Great Atmosphere. Fried Green Tomatoes was awesome. We got some Burgers and mac and cheese and everything was delicious. We topped the meal of with some warm cookies. I would highly recommend this place.
Thanks Scott! :) We appreciate it and look forward to having you back for another delicious meal soon. -Amy
I live in Atlanta and went to Founding Fathers during a recent visit to DC. It was excellent. I’d definitely recommend it to those who visit DC and for those who also live nearby.
Thank you, Darcy! We appreciate the 5-STAR rating and kind recommendation. :) Our team hopes to have you back when next in the DC area. -Amy
We were looking for an off the beaten path restaurant. We "found" it in Founding Farmers. We had chicken fried steak, crispy shrimp, and beer can chicken at our table. It was all good. Would return if I didn't live 2000 miles away.
The food is excellent. The service Meh. The place suffers from over popularity. Despite having a 1 pm reservation, we had to wait at least 20 minutes to be seated. It's very crowded and noisy. And then the service was so so -- My friend wanted the "impossible burger" -- which was delicious. But I won't go back unless coerced.
DBTfan81, thank you for sharing your review with us. I am so so sorry to read that the service was considered "meh" this time and there was a 20min delay with your reservation. That said, I would love the chance to touch base and will send you a PM with my email address to hopefully connect further. -Amy
good food. noisy...bas acoustic...but in general fine ;)
I had a reservation for 6 ppl, showed up with 9 people and Lauren the Hostess was kind and didn’t turn me away but instead found a way to make it work for us! The waiter we had was so attentive and responsive to all requests. The food, as always, was amazing!!! Definitely doing this again with my work team!!
Our server was excellent. I do not remember her name unfortunately (bleached blond hair, nice long black earrings- costume jewelry). I liked the fact that she did not keep on asking if everything was ok and therefore gave us time to talk and enjoy our meal.
