Fox & Hounds Barley
We had difficulty finding somewhere to park, a comment I have heard before. Otherwise, a very enjoyable experience. Service was good and waitress very friendly. The mussels and chips were delicious and the dessert okay. I have been before for Sunday lunch which was excellent and will definitely return.
The Fox and Hounds has everything you could want from a country pub: delicious food, friendly staff, decent service, rustic-chic décor and good wine. We’ll be back.
Limited menu, would like a few more middle of road choices. Fish and chip I had was very nice, burger my husband had also very nice. The other choices were not to my liking.
Dessert looked very nice.
Sweetcorn soup & courgette/goats cheese salad was very good. The halibut was slightly disappointing, very soft to the point of being mushy (apparently they steam the fish). The burger was good, original choice of sausages no longer available as they'd run out quite early in the evening. Chocolate mousse served warm, shared between us thankfully as quite rich. Service friendly & efficient.
A lovely meal (special curry night). It is our new local gastro pub and it has brought the village together again. The food is very good and the menu changes often enough to make it interesting.
We are new to the area and this is a real find. Great food and service. A good mix of well established pub favourites but with some excellent dishes that are really outstanding.
The quality of the food is excellent (melt in the mouth roast beef, velvety suede puree and crispy golden roast potatoes!). But quantities are a bit on the small side.
Service is ok but can be hit and miss depending on who you deal with.
Price is on the high side.
Food was excellent. Worked out at about £40 per head for 3 courses and a drink.
Having seen a very good review we travelled quite far to visit the Fox and Hounds. Unfortunately it didn’t begin well. We were ignored repeatedly by front of house staff despite saying hello to the gentleman checking guests in. Eventually we were rushed to a table after being asked our name in a brusque manner, a menu thrusted into our hands and as we started to order a drink the manager had gone. We waited a further 15 minutes being ignore after making eye contact with various staff and stood up to leave when two waiters approached us to ask us why we were leaving. We explained and agreed to stay after their profuse apologies and we were rather glad we did. The food is extremely good. So too are the wines and coffee. The service improved no end and we enjoyed our meal very much. All that was required was the good manners of front of house to reassure us that despite being fairly busy we would be attended to as soon as possible. We later discovered they had been let down by staff not attending. Totally understandable if explained. I think a more welcoming people person is required when guests arrived because the chef is being let down.
Perfect meal, absolutely delicious.
For a fun cozy night out with friends you never go wrong at Fox & Hounds Barley. We had once again an amazing experience.
First time visiting. Initially seemed like they didn’t know what they were doing and took ages to get someone to acknowledge us when we sat down but once they took the order it got better and better.
The wine and food were first rate - everyone in our party enjoyed their meal and we will most certainly go back again.
We had a lovely evening and will come again. The ONLY issue we had is that the restaurant was very noisy (much more than an excited buzz) which was occasioned by four screeching ladies at the next table (we are sure we recognised two of them from the Jeremy Kyle show).
Warm welcome. Excellent food. The Sunday lunch menu of 2 courses for £25, 3 for £35 is good value.
Fabulous food and service. Great for children too. Would highly recommend.
An outstanding Sunday roast, well worth travelling for. Possibly the best Sunday roast in Cambridgeshire. We WILL be back!!

Had a wonderful evening, with amazing food. Thank you.
Very nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Not enough vegetarian options especially on set lunch menu.
we will return! ...................................,
First time we'd visited and we'll be back. Food was delicious, venue was comfy and relaxed, clean and not craped. Service was friendly and courteous. Great people make a great place.
An enjoyable evening with great food, service and atmosphere.
We will be back. Get booking people👍🏻
First visit and we will certainly go back. Big menu, wide ranging wine list and excellent service. Impressive decor, but, more important, a welcoming atmosphere and a lovely experience. Thank you.
Brought my team from work and we had a really lovely evening, the food was great, the wine was fab, my only complaint was, although I've eaten at the Fox & Hounds a few times now and the service has been amazing - this time it wasn't, it was a bit grumpy and not very smiley :-(
Will return ASAP
Amazing tasting food, which was cooked to how we asked for it. Good service even though it was busy as they had an event outside. Friendly staff and lovely looking restaurant.
Excellent menu selection. Menus changes on every visit this is my fourth visit never disappoints. First class food quality beautifully presented. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Look forward to next visit.
We arrived early but were instantly shown to our table. The food and wine were of an excellent quality and we both enjoyed our meals very much. Have already recommended The Fox and Hounds to a couple of different people and will not hesitate in going again.
We had such a lovely evening; the food and service were impeccable. Thanks ever so much. We hope to be back soon.
Can’t recommend highly enough
Overall the experience was good. The staff were very friendly and efficient however the food was very salty and there was no was the cups were triple cooked. They were more like over sized french fries which spoilt the taste experience. I would have thought more of them if they’d told us they’d run out as all bar 1 in our party had fish and chips. How can you go wrong cooking chips!!!! It was about average for a “pub” meal but the staff made up for what was lacking in the food.
Great Sunday roast with melt in the mouth beef. The service was attentive but not overly fussy. Really enjoyable Sunday afternoon.
Delicious food in relaxing surroundings
A great place to celebrate our anniversary
What a gem of a place Great food great service they could not do enough for us Thanks for a lovely afternoon
Really enjoyable evening, thank you. Lovely environment, interesting and imaginative and very tasty food, and excellent service
The food out performs the pub. Truly fantastic food, really very very good.
Good service, friendly staff, food was good but a bit on the expensive side for the portion size.
Great wine, great staff. Newly refurbished and nicely done. Food is good. We had burgers which were huge!! Not the best burger - more thought required into presentation, ingredients and cooking rather that size perhaps? We’ll be back to sample the rest of the menu and wine list though!
Eat at the Fox last week, very impressed with the interior, the food was excellent. The service was very good lots of waiting staff only too happy to help.
I will definately come again,
This is the third time we have been now and we have not been disappointed.
Went for my wife’s birthday last week, very warm welcome and tasteful decor,
