Slightly repetitive menu but every dish was great and we can’t get enough Australian-Asian fusion.

Great concept, overall 4/5 food quality with no particular must-try dish.

Only downside of its up beat ambience is that hearing and speaking takes more effort than it usually does. The layout and concept of Freak Scene is reminiscent of Barrafina. It was also fun watching the chefs make our food in front of us. I love that, unlike Barrafina, booking is possible. The service was great as well. Will return!

For something different, have the sake bomb!

Amazing food with a twist. Creative dishes with great flavours. Atmosphere had good vibes. Service was really friendly, could see food being made and speak to chef. Thoroughly recommend this spot.

So happy that Freak Scene has re opened in Soho. We have all been missing it in Farringdon!
More delicious than ever with new dishes on the menu as well as the old favourites, every mouthful is a flavour explosion.
Chicken fried chicken, Spicy Thai Sausages and Miso Aubergine top of the favourites list!

Excellent lunch! One of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Perfect food, I can’t recommend enough. Order one of everything, you won’t be disappointed!

While the food was adventurous and featured interesting combinations the strictly bar seating was uncomfortable and the decor seemed to not be fully finished so rather than drawing you into an Asian dive bar (which seemed to be the half-hearted aim) you felt like you were in a chain establishment at a provincial American airport. The cocktails also felt they could be served in such a place, mainly water with no strong sense of alcohol or flavour.

Everything we tried on the menu was delicious and left is wanting to try everything else but had no room for more! Some interesting combinations (pork belly and mussels) that worked well. Visited late afternoon when it was quiet and had a long chat with owners, who was lovely, about the background to the restaurant and food. Highly recommend

I love Kurobuta so was super excited about trying Freak Scene and I wasn’t disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious - top items we tried were the chicken-fried-chicken, the aubergine, the black cod tacos and the crab and avocado wontons. I like the counter dining but my only constructive feedback is that they need to improve the service - they’d only be open 3 weeks when we went though so know this will get sorted! But it was difficult to get anyone’s attention for new drinks or when one of our dishes had been forgotten about. But would highly recommend!

Great food - amazing - 4 of us had most of the menu - everything excellent - particularly liked the black cod taco, the nasu dengaku (aubergine), the hoisin pork belly and the fried chicken
Like the early days of Kurobuta - happy days
We will be back 🤗

This is my second time visiting Freak Scene and the new venue did not disappoint. Seating is around the long counter watching the food being prepared which allows you to chat to the chef and waiting staff or just admire the dishes as they are being plated up!
The food was great - try the crab and avocado wontons and the pork belly! The music is good and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. I'll be back again for that 8 hour, slow cooked, pork belly!

No pictures as we ate everything too quickly!

So glad Freakscene found its new home in Soho! I went with my boyfriend on a Friday night for the opening weekend. The environment is casual but the food is extraordinary. The sashimi pizza with truffle ponzu was amazing. Can’t wait to go back and see what Scott does with the menu as it expands!

Great night at Freak Scene!
The pork belly with chilli jam was delicious! Cool, relaxed atmosphere with dining at the bar and open kitchen. Perfect before hitting the bars... after a cheeky shot with the staff ;)

Five dishes, five hits. Excellent food all round. Exciting Asian fusion. It's all delicious but the chips are a stroke of genius and at £4.50 a must! Would highly recommend.

I sincerely love Freakscene! I was a bit worried when I turned up and peered through the window as it looks really casual, but it’s a pop up and they’ve done a brilliant job of adapting the space. The food was really surprising - inventive, delicious, full of taste and creativity. The service was bright, fun and friendly. It’s not the place to go for a date (or maybe it is!) as it’s messy eating, and you do have to wait a while for a drink - but I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. It’s the most fun I’ve had for ages! And a meal I will definitely go back for. They’re opening a permanent lace soon in Soho, which I have no doubt will become massively popular! Great music too.

The food is sensational. However, the service borderline negates all that. The skeleton staff, whilst friendly, can’t handle the restaurant when full. After we’d eaten, it was as if they’d entirely forgotten about us - it took over half an hour to get acknowledgement of a drinks order, which we subsequently cancelled, then left. The food (especially the black cod tacos) was amazing, but we won’t be going back.

Had a hiccup to start with as despite a table booked we were seated at bar stools at the front window - not great trying to chat and share plates amongst 4. We were eventually moved when a table became free later. Service was a little haphazard, drinks list pricey but the food was spot on. Great flavours and combinations - all delicious!

I booked Freak Scene for my partner's birthday. We had a table of 9, which is large for any restaurant. The staff were phenomenal, helping us choose the right menu and drinks. And the food was absolutely phenomenal. It was so tasty - sweet and spicy - and it came out quickly. Everyone who came commented about how much they loved the place. I would absolutely recommend Freak Scene! Thank you for such a fantastic night.

As a fan of Kurobuta and then hearing the background story of what happened to Scott (ex owner of Kurobuta) I thought I would try this place out, plus Scott would be doing the cooking.

I was not disappointed at all, the food is really good (as expected) and creative some of the items I had, I've never seen on a menu before, but I'm glad I have now. Its a very causal place, and very chilled so if your after a relaxing night with your mates and some good food then go.

I'm under the impression that the menu changes, as some of the dishes on the menu weren't on the menu when we got there.

I like food, drinks, and relaxing so 10/10 from me.

Very good food and great service. However very basic furniture and not a place to linger. Great for a quick bite but too expensive for the quality of the surroundings. Also should have limited lunch menu at a fixed price may attract more diners at lunchtime.

This wasn't a cheap eat out and certainly isn't your typical Asian street food 'quick bite'... This is top notch Asian fusion squeezed into a tiny little pop up restaurant.

Each 'course' (we ordered everything on the comparatively small menu) was a delight to eat and each was unique (I've eaten in more than my fair share of Asian restaurants and I can't recall ever eating anything similar).

If I was to leverage any criticism it wood be the beer, Tiger is a bit lame and the only choice. Asahi, Kirin, Singha... Even Tsing Tao - plenty of readily available and better tasting alternatives.

When the food is this good though, you can forgive.
