Beautiful food and service. The lamb was unbelievable
An elegant yet welcoming dining experience, enhanced by such attentive , polite and accommodating staff . This is why we keep returning !
This restaurant never fails to please. Our last visit before Lockdown. Roll on December !
Lovely ambiance and great staff. Lovely food too. Been here many times and plan to go many more.
Lovely place to eat, things missed off the menu as part of meals like chilli in the burger also bacon on the burger.
Chicken wings were divine and the breakfast was to die for.
As always the food is excellent! The staff just have the right balance of attentiveness.
Stanley was the first place we went to eat after lockdown, credit to them they wore face coverings and took your temperature (and still take your temperature) long before government guidelines came into force! It makes for a very comfortable meal out. Thank you Stanley house.
Most enjoyable evening. Staff very polite and we were comfortable in the light of Tier 3 restrictions operating.
We got married at Stanley House last year so it's always lovely to visit. This was the first time we'd been since lockdown but definitely won't be the last. The food was delicious and the service was second to none. Always a pleasure to visit.
As usual we were well looked after and had a lovely meal. It was an anniversary I think but nothing was mentioned but it wasn’t a problem. We are regulars and don’t expect any freebies.
We decided to go somewhere special to celebrate my wifes 78th birthday. We enjoyed the food, the ambiance and the wonerful service we received from a young man and especially a delighfully pleasant young girl. I regret I did not get her name. The only disappointment was the price of the drinks. We expected to pay a little more but £26 for the cheapest bottle of wine or £9 for a glass !! Only one draught lager/beer Others in expensive bottles. So enjoy the food but ask for water!
We always enjoy Stanley House and our meal yesterday was no exception. Lovely food & attentive service
Moved into a temporary restaurant due to deep cleaning of mr Fred’s
Looked cold inivinting
Good under par had been previously the same week to mr Fred’s at lunch
Staff not usual finesses no ore warning given or signage had to W begins a wedding to even ask sone one
Have not been to MrFreds for a couple of year. It was nice to be back. A lot of new faces and very welcoming. Food was excellent and atmosphere was also ex. We will return
Great ambience- quality but conservatory always a bit cold to sit in - shame .
Always fab! Super service! Glad to be back! Thank you!
Food and service is always amazing here. One of my favourite places to go so a perfect first trip out since covid and a period of illness.
Sunday lunchtime.
Staff were very few.
The steaks were ordered unfortunately one of the steaks was gristly and the other was not cooked to order. The presentation of food particularly the steak was poor, very large tomato, watercress and leathery looking flat mushroom. We had mentioned about the gristle but no staff came forward to explain.
Caesar salad was ordered as a main but there was much more anchovies than chicken-a shame.
The sticky toffee sponge dessert was overly, sickly sweet and was unfinished.
We have visited this restaurant previously and the food was excellent and so to was the service.
I guess Sunday is not the best day to visit!
Long wait, tired furniture, snotty rude staff with language barrier. Dear for what it is. Would not recommend to people who have certain standards.
The service and quality of food is outstanding, my only constructive advice is to lower the price of the bottled wine, especially the prosecco. £35 per bottle is very expensive.
Fantastic service. Great quality food. All in an amazing setting. Would highly recommend.

Having visited here for 20 years we were disappointed to see it has lost its refinement. From food quality, and presentation to quality of the crockery it is sad to see the decline.
Professional and friendly service. Outstanding food, and good value. Will return soon.
Lovely food albeit from a smaller menu but delicious anyway. Great to have 50% off too!
Food was disappointing. Son had Thai green curry which was very bland. I had fish and chips the fish was tasteless. Son did enjoy the chips though!
Sat in conservatory part with a table of 4 next to us, who were having a great time :) however that meant we had to talk loudly due to the echo....there was only one other table in so not sure why they sat us next to each other
Gorgeous lunch. Fabulous steak and great service
Beautiful setting, gardens pristine, clean, efficient, staff using PPE. Food was delicious, presentation excellent. We will be back!
The service was excellent, staff were really helpful, attentive and friendly. Food was amazing!
Would highly recommend!
Used to be a regular here until it changed hands. We were informed it was being changed and the restaurants were closing. I found out only recently that Mr Fred’s was still open so I booked for Sunday Lunch today. I actually think it has improved slightly. Service was always good but I feel with Covid we were made to feel very safe and comfortable imm. The staff were all masked up and cleaned tables and chairs and ensured we were happy throughout the meal. Excellent service. The food was very good but my starter of the pea & broad bean risotto was a little short of seasoning and really needed some Parmesan in the rice as I had to season it myself with salt & pepper. The Parmesan tweel was nice but too small so had little effect on the dish. A main course size would have been really difficult flavour wise. However the textures were all there and the peas , beans and rice were spot on just lacking seasoning. Main courses were lovely and my chicken was delicious. My wife’s fish cake was lovely and the thick fries were as good as always. I think the menu is better and more varied and I like the additions Cake & coffee as an alternative. Lovely Victoria sponge cake. Also I like the way they have retained sandwiches as an alternative light lunch and that you can have certain starters as a main course size also. We were glad to be back and will return very soon as they have continued the special Government allowance on your meal throughout Sept on Mon, Tues, Weds and Thursday. Well worth a visit and congrats to the staff on faultless service.
My favourite place to dine! Excellent Covid measures in place! Lunch was truly wonderful
First class service, delicious food, beautiful grounds. Would highly recommend 🙌🙌
Was great place and hope the help out to eat out continues into October and we will come many more times. Great place and really smart. Food delicious.
An enjoyable evening with my partner, the atmosphere was good and socially distanced tables and staff wearing masks was reassuring. I have to say though that my food was slightly disappointing. I had the broccoli and potato soup for starter which was very mediocre and an unappealing very dark colour. The fish and chips were pleasant enough but I’ve eaten as good if not better for substantially less than the £16 or so here. Final point was regarding the service. The servers seemed very busy and delivered food without cutlery or butter for the roll etc and staff seemed to be in a hurry to get to the next task. We like the atmosphere here and the surroundings but probably won’t be in too much of a rush to come back.
Very concerned when heard about the change in ownership and suggestions . However did not need to be concerned as the standards are if anything improved.
Excellent night- good food and wine nice atmosphere even in these difficult times.
Staff well organised and great service
excellent compliance to Cover regulations. we felt very safe and comfortable.
the food was of a very high standard
Beautiful surroundings. Bit quiet that evening but that suited. Great food but portions on the small side.
Nicely set out with good spacing. A limited menu at the moment. Service was very good. My starter was wrong but was quickly sorted so that my husband was still eating when the replacement arrived. Our main course was fresh and plenty of it. Coffee could have been better and the drinks are expensive compared to other restaurants we have been to but overall enjoyed our evening.
Second time we have been here since the restaurants reopened. Very good distancing of the tables. Temperature taken when going in and a form to be filled in. All the servers wear masks and menus etc all on the table. Knives etc with salt and pepper and wipes put on table separately. The food is also excellent and perhaps most important !!!
Amazing service and food as always. Can’t fault them at all!
Limited menu was disappointing, but under the current circumstances It was understandable.
Food was good large portions and value for money.
