Really nice, cool, chill and laid back. I'm definitely going back.
Nice restaurant in White Plains, NY. Our hostess and server were great. The manager came over a few times to check in on us which I appreciated.
Food was good overall and flavorful.
I would go back next time I’m in town.
We had a wonderful dinner for 5 of us. the place was practically empty, so i am not sure if that had anything to do with it, but the service was amazing, the food always delicious and great atmosphere.
great food, great service, loved the ambiance. Will definitely be going back soon.
My wife had won a gift card a while back so we tried it out. The space is very well designed and welcoming with an interesting take on southern food.
They start you off with a few pieces of the most delicious warm cornbread. Then we split a Caesar salad, which had some pieces of fried parsley in there - a very nice touch.
We shared the bricked chicken - which was in a great lemon sauce and shortrib gnocchi which were both delicious. The only surprise was that I assumed the shortribs would be shredded into the gnocchi and instead it was a piece of meat in the middle - still tasty.
We didn't have time or room for dessert, but I would recommend this place and come back again.
All in all, a good dinner.
First time visiting location. Inside was warm and modern. We were greeted the moment we walked in. They offer two options either eat main dining area or rooftop. In order to go to rooftop you must walk up two flights.
The rooftop you can sit either by bar or on patio area. By the bar there are long tables completely covered from sun or patio area has small tables with umbrellas for some shade. I was impressed with the rooftop top view you can see all of Mamaroneck Ave. It was nice to sit outside without be next to street.
My only disappointment was they do not tell you online there’s a limited menu when dining on rooftop. I had my heart set to try their fried green tomatoes but not available on rooftop menu. When our order was served in “to-go” containers and given plastic utensils. I guess it makes it easy for servers to bring up the food from downstairs to upstairs. The food was delicious but the presentation failed. I will be going back but this time eating in main dining area. Looking forward trying their main menu selection.
We were really surprised by the elevated food experience. Beet salad, duck and patty melt entrees were all spot on, with great attention to detail.
We will absolutely be returning.
Best happy hour in white plains. The atmosphere is wonderful, and the drinks and food can't be beat
We could not have asked for a better place to start out our 4th of July weekend. My wife has been raving about freebird and the "root to leaves" salad to everyone she knows. I was very happy with my skirt steak, it was tender and as perfectly cooked as it could be. The rooftop gave us a vacation vibe, and we stayed longer than we normally would.
Very happy with the offerings at freebird. It’s not your typical cookie cutter restaurant that everything is turning into. Quality food and drinks, great staff, and wonderful ambiance.
Delicious food and great service.
Good food, interesting menu and relaxed atmosphere.
Great drinks and service - food was just okay. I wouldn't go back.
I went with a friend, we ordered chicken and waffles, we waited for 1 hour before the waiter told us our food was dropped to the wrong table. So they comp the food.
We waited another 20mins or so. The waffles was the worst I've ever had not to mention the chicken. It was well cooked but had no flavor even the syrup was terrible.
The drinks were the only thing that was good.
So i would go back for the drinks but would never eat there again.
Restaurant has a really nice interior when u first walk in. The drink menu is delicious as well as everything we ordered off the menu. There was also some really fantastic live music and when we were done we found the rooftop bar which was SO cool
I really wanted to like this place, but they just don't seem to have it together. The fried okra app was oversalted, the dumplings in the chicken and dumplings were ice cold in the middle and they were out of popovers. The chicken and dumplings was overly salty and the pork was extremely undercooked.
The restaurant was not busy, but there were long waits for everything. At one point, the food runner tried to deliver an order of fried tomatoes to our table and argued with us when we told him that we didn't order them.
We ordered dessert and although we waited 20 min for two desserts, the server still had not cleared the table or given us clean forks. This may seem like a minor issue, but we had several small children at our table who had to wait another 5-10 minutes with dessert right in front of them that they couldn't eat, and this was hard for them.
I do think this place has potential, and may be worth trying during another time of day.
Miriam, We are sincerely sorry for the issues you and your party experienced. We always strive to do better and we appreciate the optimism in your review. We hope to see you again soon to ensure your next experience is outstanding. Thanks for dining with us and kind regards!
Fabulous food, but the service was pretty awful.
Waited a long time to order drinks; had to get up ourselves to refill water glasses, and two of our meals arrived 15 minutes later than the first three.
Having said that, the food was fabulous, and Ashley the manager more than made up for the poor service. For those reasons, we will surely give it another chance.
Wanted to thank my mentor for all of her help!
Every time I visit freebird the experience is amazing! The food is incredible and the service is great! Highly recommend!
Absolutely amazing food loved to meet the owner Suzzie!
The atmosphere was pleasant, the service was outstanding, attentive, and polite. The music was entertaining.
Not sure why this place wasn't more crowded on a Saturday night. Food was excellent. Eclectic menu . This coming from a chef. Service was also attentive and nice. Quite the selection of Liquors and beers. Definitely go back again.
We went to Freebird Kitchen and Bar for Mother's Day Brunch. I loved the decor with contemporary distressed wood paneling and interesting chome lighting with LED's. There are about 100 origami cranes in an area near the bar. Our party of 6 sat in a back section away from the bar and the noise level was very pleasant for conversation from one end of the table to the other. I had the roasted brussel sprouts as an appetizer which were simply scrumptious especially that outer leaves which nearly melted in your mouth. 2 other had the chili which definitely had a kick to it, perhaps too much for my husband who left about 1/3 in his bowl. Some sour cream may have mellowed it out.
The main glitch of the meal was that 4 meals came out and we waited and waited for the other 2. Finally the owner came out and explained that the kitchen was transistioning from brunch to dinner and somehow the 2 meals got waylaid or something. They came out shortly and we were offered an extra cocktail or after-dinner drink. I had a 2nd Manhattan and 3 other got tea with their desserts.
My chicken and waffles were tasty with sirachi butter and sweet maple syrup. All the portions were ample, pleasantly presented and not overly filling so you did have room for the dessert .
The brunch offered 2 desserts--apple pie warmed with French vanilla ice cream and Mississippi Mud Pie. The apple pies were scoffed down but I brought home 1/2 of the Mud pie which was so rich.
The service was good-not exceptional but we did not have to look far for our waiter or other wait staff to fill the water glasses. I would recommend Freebird
Mother’s Day brunch was fabulous!!
We're regulars here and mainly come during the week. They have outstanding food and drinks, cool atmosphere, and the staff are awesome! Can't recommend enough!
What a wonderful addition to the downtown White Plains food scene. I can't wait to come back and try their brunch.
Get the whole fried chicken. It may be big enough for two, but you won't want to share. Get some brussel sprouts, and roasted butternut squash to round out your meal, and you'll be in new age comfort food nirvana. You're welcome.
Had the NY strip steak. It was better than most steak houses. The brussel sprouts are great.
Came here for lunch.. and all I can say is "OYSTER PO BOYYYYY" so good. so fresh. so delicious. Friendly staff, a beautiful restaurant, and an inventive take on Southern cuisine. I am so happy I found freebird.
Went with a group of friends on a Friday night. The waiter brought the food menu's and 1 drink menu (for 4 people - only 2 had arrived at this point). We order and ask to keep the drink menu. A little while later waiter said he needed the drink menu and said he would return it, we had to ask for our 1 drink menu to be returned. Kind of annoying.
We ordered several small plates, the roasted butternut squash - which was delicious, the mac n' cheese - it was good, not great, fried pickles but these never came, the oysters which were very good and the cauliflower steak which none of us cared for. One of us has a severe allergy and informed the waiter who sort of made a joke of it which was not okay.
The waiter wouldn't leave us alone towards the end of our meal. He kept coming over and asking if we needed anything else (interrupting conversations repeatedly) and trying to clear unfinished plates. It became a joke among us about how often he kept coming over.
I certainly wouldn't go back. Some of the food was good and some okay. With so many other options in White Plains I wouldn't go again.
Went for lunch on a weekday. First customer there. No appreciation just weird looks from the bar and staff. My friend and I both ordered a beet salad with “warm goat cheese”. The beets were a weird pink, shredded and bleh. Inedible. She gots one kind of whipped cheese/yogurt? Not sure what it was, I got crumbled cheese, not warm. On the positive, the grilled shrimp I ordered for mine were good. The salad had no “salad” despite the claimed typo of arugula on the menu. Overall, just awful. Never again.
Went on a Saturday night, food and drinks were good as was the service. There was a band playing but we were still able to have and hear conversations. Great spot!
Always Delicious, great atmosphere, and friendly staff
Made a Saturday reservation for 8 using the mobile App on Wednesday. Arrived via the back door just before the reservation and was greeted by multiple staffers before making my way to the front-door stand. The hostess gladly seated us given there were at least 50% of my party present. She escorted us to a more private but still open area in the back of the restaurant. A member of the waitstaff was right behind her and took our initial drink orders. From that point on as my remaining guests arrived, the waitstaff was attentive to our food and drink requests throughout the 4 hour evening. The fried pickles, disco fires, and the short rib tacos were definitely the table winners and a solid selection of drinks was available and made just as requested. The music was at a perfect volume to add to our experience without causing the dreaded yell-over-the-music ritual. Well done Freebirds!
Nice little spot...I had the deviled eggs which were good sand the shrimp and grits...very good...good thing I had the eggs though as it wasn’t quite enough. Cheesecake was good...really wanted to try the monkey bread but it is only for two so I couldn’t. All in all a good visit. Will go back for that monkey bread!!!!
Knowledgeable professional friendly staff
Food was delicious
We can here post movie. Sat at a high top for four with friends. Loved the band that was playing and music was too overwhelming, we were still able to chat. The brick chicken was delicious, cooked perfectly. My friend has the Nashville Hot Chicken, as its name says...it’s very hot, too hot for me but he liked it. Though, warning, it’s got a lot of heat. The chicken and waffles were delicious and my friends shrimp and grits looked good, but stew like in the amount of vegetables. Only regret is not having room for the monkey bread!
Service could be MUCH BETTER.
Only spot in White Plains to enjoy live music, great food, and a warm atmosphere. Had the shrimp and grits and it was amazing.
Calamari was so delicious. I also enjoyed the shrimp and grits. Great restaurant, I will definitely be back!
