   If you’re looking for some drinks and a high energy atmosphere with dance music, Funky Geisha is great. But I would not recommend it for a date night or any dinner where you want to have a conversation - the music was so loud it’s nearly impossible to hear anyone at your table. Even communicating with the waitstaff was challenging because of the music volume. Otherwise they were very sweet and accommodating. The food we had was decent, but not outstanding. I was expecting more sushi options, to be honest. Basically, I’d come back for a drink and hookah with a large group. Would not return for dinner as a couple.

   Overpriced and not worth the hype. The decor is lovely but the food was just okay. The staff makes you feel like they are just trying to scam you out of as much money as possible. Our server basically tricked us into buying extra expensive margaritas. He was not friendly and acted like he was in a rush to get our money. Didn’t enjoy and would not go back.

   The service, food, and atmosphere are amazing. We really enjoyed all of our dishes which included tuna sashimi, pad Thai, Mongolian beef, crab wontons, spring rolls, and the crunchy tuna roll.

    Celebrated my friends birthday with a group of 11 of us. They took amazing care of us. Everything was perfect from the drinks to appetizers and entrees and then dessert! They made my friends birthday very special. The staff was amazing. The atmosphere is also really cool with a fun vibe and awesome music. I really love this place and highly recommend it.

    Love Funky Geisha and have been several times. Had a reservation to take several clients I had in town for scuba diving to dinner there. I hyped up how nice and comfy the seating was, how cool the drinks presentation was, and how good the Mongolian beef was… Well they wouldn’t put us in the comfy seating area. Said it was for other reservations even though it remained empty the whole time we were there. Instead they sat us in the back corner where we had to be moved due to rain. The chairs were very hard and also dirty. Then every drink I tried to order they currently could not make… their featured drink the funky, the derby apple and others so that was disappointing. This was a Saturday night… Then we tried to order dinner… no beef. Apparently it’s not what’s for dinner 😂 So several of the dishes had mixed meat options but sorry no beef. Our server however was very nice and very attentive. They did great. Also the music and atmosphere is fun. The food and drinks that we did get was all very very delicious. I will give them another chance, but was definitely disappointed.

    Trader Joes Sweet Chili Sauce is the main tasting note of every dish at this vastly overpriced shockingly gauche establishment. Scantily clad women dancing in a stupor next to your table set the scene for your terrible food to come out, illuminated by the LED flashlight of your waitstaff (who were lovely in every regard). In terms of ambiance, funky geisha like a sex club from star wars full of sorority girls and finance bros and other malignant forms of identity. Our waiter warned us that the "the beef dish has very little beef in it" and he was right, Truly, the food tasted like a reheated package of frozen chinese food replete with the tiny nuggets of tendony chewy beef soaked in corn syrup. Then as we were rising to leave, we were hemmed in by the beginning of an unforgettable performance. Two men in bizarre sparkly skirt outfits with silly face paint holding tiny drums, began to beat arrhythmically to a track blasting thru the speaker system. Whether you believe in cultural appropriation or not, the 5 minute spectacle was cringe inducing and left us nowhere to go, meanwhile the dancing women and a small twink dressed in a golf outfit wiggled their butts in ecstasy as influcencers rolled their eyes, giggled as they turned off the flash on their phone while recording, sand oozed hookah smoke out of their mouths and noses. Avoid funky geisha at all costs.

    The noise level was terrible, you couldn’t actually see the food unless the waiter shined a flashlight at it and what they served us didn’t correlate with what was written on the menu. The worst dish of all was the Mongolian beef. It had little to no meat and none of the Ingredients listed on the menu. It did have carrots and bell peppers, which is not part of Mongolian beef, I get that it could be an interpretation of the chef but this wasn’t the case since the ingredients were on the menu. Overall I wouldn’t recommend my worst enemy to go eat here.

    Expensive. Loud and not very flavorful food. It is so dark you cannot see what you are eating. And it’s so loud you can hardly carry on a conversation. Not overly impressed.

    Interesting place… Most of the venues in the Tulum look almost exactly the same so it’s no surprise that Funky Geisha follows a similar path. Little authenticity to the style of restaurant - Asian fusion - but the food was very tasty. Noise / party atmosphere was a little much. Again, it’s an Asian restaurant so blasting techno house music from 8pm was a little odd but people were enjoying it so might be for some and not for others. If you’re looking to go and have a conversation, it’s not the place. Host and waiters struggle to hear your orders - it’s that loud. Also that dark. They’ll help shine a torch on your food when it’s served but after that, you’re unlikely to see what you’re eating… Floor is completely sand so if you don’t like sand or want sand in your shoes - it’s the not the place for you. Comfy little hookah lounge area was nice but some tables might not be best placed (we were right in front of the stage area so had a performer dancing behind and sometimes in front / around the table. Again, be careful if you don’t like sand while this is happening. They’re kinda pushy on the trip advisor reviews. Will encourage to scan and leave the review and even waited and watched as it was being left. But service was attentive and served incredibly fast. Our whole experience was done - starters, mains, drinks - within an hour. So felt a little rushed but they will push for the turnovers which were frequent. Nice to experience but wouldn’t rush back. Good one-off for the food.

    Ismael provided excellent service. Food and cocktails were amazing. Such attention to detail. The music could have been a tick lower to allow for conversation but we loved the electronic house beats.
