We had a nice time, taking a salsa class and the offer of 3 tapas and a cocktail.
Unfortunately the food and the mojito were very poor:
All tapas that were meant to be hot, arrived to the table cold.
The patatas bravas were cold, chewy and unseasoned. The squid was overcooked and unpleasant to eat. Chicken was dry and hard. Cod unseasoned and bland.
The mojito lacked sweet and it seemed not to have enough liquor in it to taste it.
The class was fun and in general the ambience was good. It is a shame that the food is so poor, which should have been the main attraction, been a Latin American themed bar.
Bought a buyagift and struggled to book, rang several times but then booked via open table not sure as to wether they would accept the voucher upon arrival. When we arrived there was no one to seat us so we asked the bar staff who were helpful. Once seat the staff were polite and helpful and the food and drinks were lovely. For the price paid would definitely recommend 👍
Went with a Groupon voucher and, although I was not supposed to use on a weekend, staff were extremelly accommoating and allowed us to stay.
Nice venue, greqat vibe. Food was ok, not sure about the presentation as the fries looked a bit sad, but the burger tastes nice.
Overall good experience. Thanks a lot to the staff who still welcome us despite the mistake of booking for the weekend.
We booked for a Saturday night, using the BuyAGift voucher. This voucher was very good value for money - a 2-course meal plus a cocktail for 2 people, for only £24 in total.
However, there was no air conditioning on a very hot day. There was only 1 toilet on the whole upper floor, therefore there was a long queue. The service was also extremely slow. It took probably 1hr to receive our main courses. However, they kindly gave us a free starter as we waited for the starters we ordered. The chocolate and chilli brownie in fact had no chilli in it whatsoever and was a plain brownie. Which was fine, but they should have said it was sold out and there was the plain brownie as the alternative option.
Overall, nice cool decor and music but the service was very low. For a Saturday night, there was also no one there so not very lively on the top floor of the restaurant.
Was okay. Food was alright - we ordered vegetarian tapas and one of the plates that arrived was the meat version. Had a voucher for samba experience but that wasn't happening. Drinks choice was limited to 3 specific drinks from the menu. Food came out at different times so as we're finished the meal, the patatas bravas just arrived.
Went with a Groupon for half price food and drink. Very quiet at the time, good service and food quality.
Amazing food and great service! Great lively ambience.
Really poor service, understaffed, got numerous orders wrong and delayed, conflicting information coming from different staff, food arriving a different times and staff with really abrupt demeanours. Also only 2 toilets meant there was a really long queue all night and the app to order food kept glitching for everyone at the table.
The vibe of the place could have been good but it was ruined by the many issues we had throughout the night.
The staff didn’t treat us well, one of my friend’s phone wasn’t working and they didn’t wanted to take her order. We ordered a tomato and avocado salad that came without tomato, our burgers were burned. They took a lot of time to bring us the food and because the food wasn’t done well we had to wait even more time. Also prizes are too high for the quality and size of the plates, and they don’t have a lot of variety.
I had decided to give to this place another shot since everytime I had been so far something went wrong. The first time they messed up our bill and charged us more but we realised only later at home, the second time the food was anything but good. The third time another disaster. I wanted to go to a place that would put on some latin music (salsa, reggaeton etc.) but the Euro was on so 2 matches were shown while we were there. Basically music was on just for some time in between the two matches. If I wanted to watch the matches I would have gone to an English pub or another type of venue. Food was way better this time, absolutely delicious however the service was terrible. Our second order (food) arrived after one hour and a half. When I asked if it was possible to have the last round of drinks offered, they only wanted to give us tequila shots, but not all of us were drinking alcohol. After the third disaster, I don't think I will ever go back and for sure won't recommend it.
We ordered food at 8:45 and waited two hours asking where our food was twice, then it turned out to have been given to another table and we had to leave and get a refund for the food we waited for so long. They didn’t even offer to at least pay for our drinks. Honestly very bad.
Great cocktails, fun atmosphere and friendly staff!
Food was cold and the sweets potato fries tasted like sea food as if they were fried with sea food. Service was good and the place had a good atmosphere. Cocktails were good.
Great restaurant...good food..good service .. highly recommend
Sat down at our table at 7.30pm, received our first drinks and all 6 of our tapas dishes at 8.25pm. (After complaining twice.) Would not recommend.
Atmosphere and food were lovely, but they were very busy and as such we had very little contact with our server. We spent 10 minutes trying to catch someone to see if we could move table or open the umbrella. Also, the app to order food is a bit glitchy! Worth it because the food was incredible though
Sat far too close to another table when they wanted to fit in more smaller tables for drinkers. Food took a while to arrive (45+ min). Drinks were OK.
When we got there there’s was not food we waited for 1h and still the kitchen was close. They have to make sure to have enough people or say in advance that they might close the kitchen if it’s too busy so people don’t book to eat and then have to wait for the kitchen to open. Very bad service we left to go and eat somewhere else as they didn’t have food.
Food was tasteless and barely warm. Toilets were dirty. Would not recommend
All in all very good and a thoroughly good experience.
Sadly our booking did not register on open table however the restaurant was great and made room for us regardless. Excellent on gabetos part!!
We got to Gabeto and they had barely any food items remaining on the menu, bearing in mind this was 7:30 on a Friday evening.
They didn’t have any burgers, and only had about 5 dishes to choose from. Very disappointing.
Went at lunchtime. We were the first table there. It took over an hour to get our food after ordering. When we asked where our food was we were told that the chef had had a big order before us. There was one other table of eight people by this time who were served and had left by the time our food was served (seemed to be the manager’s mates). When the food arrived it was completely tasteless. The waitress was sweet and did her best but the manager did nothing even though it was clear we had been waiting for ages. Worst experience we’ve had in London, really bad management.
Food was awful. So bland and they didn’t have any salt or chilli sauce to spice it up..bizarre!
The customer service was amazing. She was so friendly and paid attention to detail. The place was calm despite a few people there but the atmosphere was really nice in terms of catching uo and the music playing . I had a groupon voucher from last year so used it had ribs and unlimited fries with a glass of wine, I had merlot and it was so nice and the food was delicious the chips were chunky and well cooked and the ribs were nicely seasoned (quite a lot of food which I was happy about) . Anyway the place was lovely was a bit sceptical when getting the voucher but I will definitely return.
Service was so bad and not even worth to speak about the food... was a rip off, expensive and disgusting food in every single way. So disappointed I won’t be back for any kind of dinner there.
Very bad service in general. We had to wait for our food for 2 hours, and we did not even get the what we ordered! Also, queue for toilet is outside - only two toilets for the whole bar.
We were unhappy with our table and we were seated at a small high table for dinner for three people, we were able to move outside but to a table only half under cover so our table ended up soaked by the end of the meal.
The cocktails were weak and overpriced for what you got.
We were particularly excited about the food but again this was very overpriced for the standard of food you got. We requested prawns but were informed they were out so we swapped to squid but we were actually brought chorizo. In addition all of our food was cold when it showed up. No one checked back to our table to find out if we were satisfied with our meal. I would have complained and requested a discount however, having paid upfront due to ordering on phones made me feel I could not do this.
The best margarita in London! I’ll come back for sure !!
My 30th birthday, got shoved in the darkest corner with no lighting away from the atmosphere, staff were over worked and seemed stressed.
Busy but service was 10/10
We had to wait to be seated even with a reservation, but otherwise it was a very nice experience! Good food, great atmosphere, great service. Thank you!
We had a good time, the covers for the outdoor area were a big help with the rain. Ordering drinks & food is done online, but odd that you have to pay online too rather than normal tap/PIN.
Great place for a few drinks with friends. Food looked good from afar. Front of staff were very friendly and accommodating.
Poor customer service, rude staff and management. They seemed very unbothered to myself as well as other customers sitting outside. I didn't feel welcome at all. Staff not wearing their masks properly and not following social distancing rules. However the food wasn't bad, but nothing special.
Had a great vibe and was pretty chill. Cocktails were nice.
I wanted to order vegan food but none of the staff ( including the chef over the intercom ) knew what I could and couldn’t eat and I had to explain so when the food came I was not relaxed in knowing it was okay for me to eat.
The vibe was good but the pigeons flying under the tent during the outdoor dinning was very upsetting
Perfect place for a few drinks! Good atmosphere, we didn’t eat as we were eating in the market but the food looked so good
Had to wait 20 mins to be seated only to be sat at the back of the restaurant with no lighting and no patio heating. Literally sat there eating in the dark, no music. Completely different vibe to the front area seating with music, lighting and heaters. Asked for candle and they were never able to find a lighter. So throughout our time there, used the lighting on our phone cameras to read the menu and order. Food was very delayed and ended up cancelling as a result. No point sitting in the dark waiting for food with no ETA.
Appalling service, won’t be returning and would not recommend.
I can imagine that anyone who sat on the front terrace would give great reviews; it looked fun from why I could see lol
I decided to visit Gabeto which was to be my first dining out experience of 2021 and I was likely to be easily pleased and buoyed by the change of environment, cuisine and vibe.
I checked the menu before booking and was content, with the various options across starters, mains, sides and desserts.
On arriving and scanning the QR code for the menu I was distraught to see a hugely reduced menu consisting only of burgers and fries. With zero alternative or moderately healthy options I had to go with the flow and I was okay with this at this time. But whilst I accept that times are hard for many, and that there could be so many reasons for a reduced menu, it is also Gabeto’s duty to advertise this on their website and doing so wouldn’t have been difficult.
After ordering on my mobile, i then had to wait 60 minutes till the food arrived, despite asking staff around the 45 minute mark to investigate.
This was exasperated by the fact I was fasting and did not anticipate needing to give the kitchen one hours notice to prepare 2 burgers and some fries.
But this could all be forgiven if the burgers were half decent, in my fasted state I would have eaten anything and it would’ve have tasted splendid, but I was especially disappointed in the fish burger and here is why:
-whole burger was cold
-bun was cold, dry and an insult to the brioche family
-there were 2.5 mini fish fingers which covered less than 50% of the bun’s surface area
-there was virtually zero sauce and pickling agent as advertised
Honestly the worst burger I’ve had in London in many years.
In summary, poor quality food, poor service (Because waiting time, the waiter staff were nice), and ultimately very low value because a dinner with couple non alcoholic drinks for 2 came to >£40 and I honestly wouldn’t repeat that experience if I was being paid £40.
Try again Gabeto and at least update your website with your reduced menu
