   A nice place but somewhat overrated. The food was decent. Waiters charming albeit been there for only 2 days. They were really the best thing about the place. The managers were non existent. We even said that on the check survey. Got a birthday cake that was charged and had to ask to be removed. If Diego hadn’t shown up to explain the scallops we would have been lost. Thank yo Uzbekistan and Diego for a nice evening

   The food was absolutely delicious. I got the Mahi Mahi with the lump crab in an Asiago cream sauce topping... perfect! The au gratin potatoes were also delicious, but more of a scalloped potato, as they were not super cheesy, but I would certainly still recommend them. The calamari appetizer was also well worth the money, and had a nice fresh flavor.

   Gaido’s has been a regular stop for us for many years of trips to Galveston. Maria always greets us like old friends and makes us so welcome. Love to go during off hours so we can relax and enjoy the ambience and the service.

    The woman at the front (who I believe is the manager), is incredibly rude. I asked her to sit at the open seats in the bar. She said I couldn’t sit there as they weren’t seating guests there anymore. Then, when I leave, I see she’s moved seats to that very area to accommodate other guests. On top of that, she was very rude. Not sure I’ll be back after that.

    We love dining at Gaido's and were excited this trip to introduce a friend to this wonderful place. We have never had a bad experience here. The service and food were outstanding. Worth the 1 1/2 hour trip each way to dine here.

    Chelsea was the best! She had great recommendations, and the food does not disappoint!!! Some of the best food we have had in a long while!!! Gaido’s is a must if you are in Galveston!

    We have always enjoyed Gaido's such an original Seafood Restaurant since the 1900's. We have gone to Gaido's for all of our adult life and our children as well as grand children!!

    Bucket List Check The ambiance is nostalgic, the menu has something for every appetite and the service was impeccable. Isabella was attentive but not intrusive. She asked if we had dine with them before and finding out we had not, have us a brief history of Gaido’s. It has been on my to-do list and it will be on my must-do list.

    If you want to know where to eat in Galveston, GAIDO'S is the place! I remember this place from over 30 years ago and it was still amazing. Fresh food, great service and wonderful ambiance. Will come back every time we come to Galveeston

    We have been coming to Gaido’s for years and tonight had to be the most disappointing experience we have had…sat for over 20 minutes without being greeted or anything..bar drink was hot…daughter never got ketchup or a refill of her drink…the blackened shrimp and mahi-mahi had so much blackening seasoning on it that it was almost not edible, husband’s shrimp was supposed to be grilled not blackened, the mahi-mahi serving was super tiny as well and mom’s tuna was way too rare…we mentioned a few of these issues to our waiter with no real response from him, when the check was dropped off, there was no pen left and to top it off - we had reservations with special instructions that we were celebrating my daughter’s 12th birthday and there was nothing ever even mentioned of that! I am so very disappointed and probably will not be back! It sad when you spend almost $150 on dinner and it’s a terrible experience!

    We made our reservation using Open Table for our last night in Galveston, as I have been dreaming about returning to Gaido's since we first dined there in the summer of 2020. We arrived and our table was quickly prepared for us. Our server was Daniel Vargas, and he was absolutely stellar. Being a father himself, he made a point to set things out of reach of the very grabby toddler, and paid special attention to him by ensuring that he had a kid's water with a lid, bread, and fruit at the end of the meal. We started off the meal with the blue crab cheesecake, which is what truly made the place stand out to me in 2020. Sometimes it's difficult to live up to our memories, but it was still on their summer menu and is one of the most magnificent items I've ever ordered at any restaurant. It is a savory cheesecake and has a slightly tangy glaze on top. I considered getting a second one after the meal. I had the grilled combination platter, which consisted of red snapper, shrimp, scallops, rice, and parmesan tomatoes. The grilled flavor came through wonderfully, especially when combined with their thick homemade tartar sauce. My wife had the snapper Michael, which was a pan-fried red snapper filet breaded with flour and parmesan and coated with a lemon butter and crab topping, which she ordered at Daniel's recommendation. She said it was excellent, as was the side of asparagus. For dessert, Daniel brought our toddler a cup of fruit, which he quickly devoured. We ordered the pecan crunch, which is pecan pie with a decadent bourbon and brandy reduction glaze, topped with vanilla ice cream from the local ice cream shop Hey Mikey's.

    The experience was disapointing beginning to end. The server was not familiar with the menu, & neither were we. He was unfamiliar with the menu items , not seeming to know what all of the options were, & was so soft spoken, that we could not always understand him. He brought bread to the table and prepared the olive oil dip, however when we requested butter, he proceeded to clear tables near us & had to be reminded about the butter. By that time, the bread was cold. My husband asked if they served clam chowder, clarifying that we meant Boston clam chowder, and he cofirmed that they did. My husband was served a cup of, apparently, scallop chowder (according to our receipt). When I questioned the server, he said that that was what was being served today. (The chowder was delicious, even so). Then I reminded him that there were supposed to be options of sides with our entree. He said he would add them to the order. I thought he said that they had parmesan roasted potatoes, so I ordered that, but apparently he meant tomatoes. My order arrived with asparagus. Apparently they were out of Coke for the evening. Once our meals were served, our server never returned. After I finished my water, I had to drink my husband's water, as the glasses were never refilled. No offer was made to refill my husband's soft drink. We had to ask passing waiters twice to have our server come by. Finally he came with a to-go box and the check. After watching all of the delicious desserts pass our table, we were not even asked if we would like to order dessert. The manager asked the table behind us if everything was satisfactory, but apparently he never thought to check up on our inexperienced server. This restaurant was recommended to me as a wonderful place for a special dinner. It is a shame that I will have to tell my friend that her recommendations was so horrible. We will not be returning, nor will we be recommending this restaurant.

    Been to Gaido’s around 10 times over the last several years. Most recent was Dec 2021 before our current trip 6/21/2022. Dec dining experience was awesome as always, but last night 6/21/2022 was the worst dining experience of my lifetime. I understand the staffing issues that restaurants are facing, so I always go in with a very patient attitude. This experience was worse than you could ever imagine. Reservations at 7pm, cocktails arrive at 8:30pm. By 8:45 appetizers had still not arrived. We had a 3 yr and 6 yr old kids with us, so at 8:45pm we had no choice but to leave after waiting for 1hr 45min for food without eating. General Manager on duty seemed to care and was apologetic, but only offered to “make it right next time”. This was an overall horrible experience experience for my mother’s 80th bday.

    Amazing food! Fabulous server (Evan)! The only issue was the timing of the food — the kitchen must’ve been understaffed. The crab cheesecake and crab Mac n Cheese were crazy good!
