Lovely little restaurant with amazing food. The soft shell crab was definitely a highlight. We’ll be sure to come back soon!
Excellent fresh food and attentive service. Best sushi in the West Midlands.
Highly recommend to sushi lovers, plus a handsome friendly staff who treat my two little boys as VIPs
Absolutely outstanding food and service from the Gaijin team. We were offered the opportunity to try the very limited sea bass roll, which was fantastic.
Thank you all at Gaijin once again for a memorable visit.
Really nice sushi restaurant in Birmingham. Seeing the chefs create the dishes on the counter in front of us was a cool feature. Quality of the sushi and sashimi was as good as we’ve ever had (including what we had in Japan). Will definitely be back!
Don't rest on this one, making a booking. Top quality.
Food and surface was excellent, we have been several times and would happily go again
What a memorable experience. From the moment we walked in, we received such personal service. We had help to navigate the menu as this was our first authentic sushi experience, and advice with our choices. The food was delivered promptly and looked and tasted wonderful. It was fresh and delicious. We weren’t sure how much to order, but this wasn’t a problem, as once we had finished, we could order some more. The menu isn’t cheap, but reflects the variety of fresh fish and other ingredients that make up such a special meal. I will certainly be recommending Gaijin to friends and family. Thank you so much for a lovely evening.
The Fish is so fresh tasting and the service was great. Best in Birmingham
Amazing sushi and a nice atmosphere / ambience - recommend!
寿司の 舎利 がべたべたしていて, 魚 を飲み込んで 処理 しきれていないし, 醤油 もあまりうまくないので,この 値段 は 確か に 少し 高い
The sushi is sticky, the tuna is not good and the soy sauce is not good, so the price is a little higher.
Great food and great service, certainly worth booking in advance. Have had dinner there a few times now and have always received very good service and food
Great food and very convenient for going to the theater.
Great little find! Food was beautiful and service efficient. Certainly visit again!
Very good food and very good service, but ambience not great. Next to a busy main road. Bar stools not at all comfortable
Was expensive we felt but food was fantastic, freshly prepared with great care and attention. The waiter was extremely good and certainly knowledgeable to our inexperienced eyes. This was a treat for our son who has been pestering us for a while to go to a Japanese restaurant and it matched his very high expectations, would highly recommend.

Delicious food, friendly service, excellent for a birthday treat. Will definitely be returning. Recommend the salmon and tuna sashimi in particular, and the soft shell crab!
Great people amazing chefs and the sushi is the best I’ve had in Birmingham
Very friendly service. Sushi outstanding as always.
Absolutely amazing from start to finish, can not wait to return. Best sushi in Birmingham.
Michal and his team are fantastic, the food is the highest quality and presented beautifully with great skill.
Amazing place to eat. Super fresh and gorgeous sushi. Brilliant service. Love it here and will be back very soon.
Understand why all the reviews are so good now :)
Everything was great. Hidden gem!
Wonderful sushi and sashimi, great miso soup, great service - and some very nice sake. Special mention to the very tasty wakame salad and the couple of sushi option with blowtorched fish, which were amazing.
Loved it, best sushi we’ve ever eaten. Lovely little restaurant, would highly recommend.
The food was fabulous, having eaten In many sushi restaurants this one really does deliver, the dragon roll, eel not my favourite, was spectacular, the dining experience is intimate but really relaxed, the service was really well informed and helpful with enjoyable quips.
All in all an absolute must for a food lover.
Well done team Gaijin.
Simply amazing as always !!! Consistently the best sushi in the UK !!
Hard to fund better sushi in Bham. Ingredients are outstanding.
A beautiful, special experience - we loved it. Thank you.
Great service and exceptional food. 2nd visit to Gaijjan and it won't be the last!
Lovely little gem. Its owner run, and service was great. Sushi for me relies on good quality produce and it's well worth paying a little more for, which is what Gaijin is about. I would highly recommend the scallops nigiri.
Amazing food, so fresh and prepared right in front of you. Super helpful service. Probably the best sushi & sashimi I’ve had. Will be back soon!
Some of the best Sashimi and Sushi we’ve eaten - one of us has been to Japan and both of us have eaten more than their fair share! Concise Saké list and peppy soundtrack combined with rigorous preparation and cheerfully attentive service made for a memorable evening.
Service was wonderful, our server cracked jokes and laughed with us and was a joy to have waiting our table. He offered to split the bill up for us before it reached the table, which was a nice touch.
Sushi is fresh, delicious and expertly-made. Absolutely delicious. And there is such a range of things to have. We ordered a special dish (bluefin tuna sashimi) which was to die for.
The restaurant was playing some ambient jazz-funk, which was a bit unusual, but certainly not unwelcome. Actually quite enjoyed it! Made for a super chill atmosphere.
Best sushi in Birmingham. Service is great too. Definitely recommend.
Gaijin Sushi revisited with a former colleague over from NZ who declared she can’t get salmon belly in NZ! Well I know where to get it I told her and a plan was formed to celebrate her birthday and our 16th wedding anniversary with Gabriele Aust.
We dined like kings and queens.
Assorted sashimi, nigiri, dragon roll, soft shell crab roll, a feast of assorted grades of tuna including otoro and chutoro….delicious and melts in the mouth.
Scallop tempura followed, crisp thin exterior, the interior still translucent…divine.
The sake and Kirin flowed so I forgot to photograph the bonus salmon course courtesy of the chef. Marinated in Marin and soy for 4 hours. VGI
Awesome evening, great food and company.
Fantastic. Highly recommend. Great service, delicious food.
Me and my wife enjoyed a great meal here. Really great service from a very knowledgeable waiter too. Will be back for sure
Enjoying sushi is very different to going for pizza or ordering a nice steak.
It’s art combined with immense skill, patience and reverence for this Japanese tradition going back to the 7th century. Eating sushi the right way to bring out its full depth of flavour and complexity, requires some basic knowledge and respect for the chef who trained for years to master this art. Team at Gaijin get it right and show all the love for this art. Service is fast and friendly, ingredients are fresh and delicious. It is as close one can get to this Japanese delicacy without flying to Mount Fuji’s homeland. The restaurant is quiet, people speak softly to not disturb the serene atmosphere and the concentration of the chefs assembling orders. I highly recommend paying Gaijin and its welcoming team of gaijins a visit to explore this delicacy.
