The glass-fronted restaurant offering diners sensational sea views and a brand new dining experience in Dumfries and Galloway is the latest addition to Laggan, the rural destination of excellence near Gatehouse of Fleet. Gather will provide visitors and locals with delicious bistro style meals.

Head Chef Murray McDavid will be leading the team and menu design. With over 10 years of kitchen experience, a travelling stint across the world resulted in four years working in Australia and New Zealand, allowing him to learn and adopt a modern cafe dining culture. These international flavours and dishes will be reflected on Gather’s menu. Gather will be open Monday - Thursday 9am - 7pm and Friday - Sunday 9am - 9pm.

Great lunchtime visit, on a beautiful day. Lovely greeting from Shona on arrival, her attendance to us throughout our visit was impeccable. The new menu was a great selection to choose from. We had to book into the private dining as we had two dogs. Not only did we have first class service but the dogs enjoyed a treat too. Lovely staff, great menu and delicious food. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Visited for a birthday lunch, was disappointed in portion size for the cost, very pricey!! Veg and prawn saganaki dishes were not value for money. Chips were reheated please don’t serve these to customers! Positive point Shona who served us was very helpful and polite. Placed at table 4 initially which was not suitable for 3 people as table layout wrong,and right at entrance door, heating was on too high and sun was very strong, no blinds on windows.

We would like to apologise for not meeting our usual standards on the date of your visit. I do see on the notes here you were moved straight away from table 4 into our private dining area, with us being so high up we do get the sun the majority of the day but we do provide sunglasses for customers to use if it is a bit too bright that day. Shona is a real asset to our team and I will make sure I pass on your praise to her, it always means a lot hearing it from our valued customers. I can confirm, our chips are not reheat, they are always made to order. Thank you for sending us your feedback

We have been to here a couple of time now and never experienced anything like it. We felt very rushed and like we were needed out asap. Sat at our table drinks and starters were taken as soon as we sat, starters came and although there was “a lot” of food for a starter they were nice, almost once our starter plate hit the kitchen our mains were on the table, the bacon was very burnt and the chicken for the chicken burger was very over done, Mains finished deserts menu came round, Desserts came and then the bill came. Sat out side and waited for the taxi cause we felt “in the way” Won’t be returning anytime soon and most definitely won’t be recommitting to anyone.

It fell short of expectations. The decor, atmosphere and views were really spot on. The staff, although there was a slight mix up with a drink, were absolutely lovely and attentive. We very much enjoyed starters and desserts but were distinctly underwhelmed by the mains. It wasn’t bad just ok, not what we expected. One meal was lukewarm and the pasta overcooked. Because of this the cost definitely felt out of kilter with the quality. Just a couple of little things to note: I would have appreciated a sundae spoon for my dessert and the daquiri was served in wrong type of glass. I wouldn’t not return but I just wasn’t impressed. Please take this constructively.

Superb meal, from the place itself, lovely staff and delicious food - I asked my husband ‘how did they get a burger to taste like this!?!’ My husband had the pork belly starter, something he rarely orders as it’s so tricky to get right - it was delicious, rich and crisp. We both had different types of burgers with had cut chips - fabulous, tasty even the brioche bun was fab. We chose a banoffee tart and eccelfeccan tart for desert, great choices although don’t think you could make a bad choice here. Such a stunning place and great quality we nipped back for coffee this morning before driving back to Glasgow.

A lovely find on the Galloway Coast. Great ambience in a very modern setting with stunning views over the sea. Superb staff and service and, of course, excellent food. Also a nice surprise when I saw the bill, great value too. We liked it so much we’re going back again this week.

We had the most beautiful weekend at Laggan resort. Our meals at gather were fantastic , the foods choices were all delicious , the only downfall was having to choose between things. The cocktails were dreamy, all freshly made and everything was so reasonably priced. The atmosphere was perfect , calm & relaxed but in no way boring and above all else the staff were the most warm, welcoming and kindest people I’ve ever come across. Five stars plus for this fantastic place !

I prefer not to give less-than-glowing reviews, but we were disappointed with Gather (it's the second time I've been). I ordered gluten-free pasta and asked for added veg. I know when I've been 'glutened' when I get a particular symptom. I now have this symptom after eating the pasta, which leads me to believe I was not served gluten-free pasta. This is dangerous for coeliacs (I am only intolerant, not coeliac), and the restaurant needs to be careful. My added veg was peas. A very unexciting meal indeed, tasting only of sour tomatoes. I ate only a small amount of it and left it. My starter was a few bits of corn with a spicy mayo, which was tasty, but our food was definitely not worth what we were charged for it. I was shocked to see the bill.

I have spoken to our head chef regarding your meal, I can confirm we only have gluten free penne pasta on our premises, so there is no chance of you being served the gluten alternative of this pasta, our only gluten pasta is our rigatoni. Our chef added in extra peppers, peas and onions to your dish free of charge also, so there was lots of tasty veggies added to the dish. Our chefs are always very careful when handling an allergy meal and take special care preparing the food.

Eaten at Gather regularly and this was the best food yet. However all good until a huge group of 30+ people arrived and noise level became unbearable. Fortunately we had booked early and had finished our mains so we skipped a desert and left. Will not put us off, just unfortunate.

Unfortunately, this is an issue we have been made aware of previously and due to our bistro being one large open plan room we do not have much to absorb noise. However, the owners have been working extremely hard in the last few months, coming up with solutions and we are pleased to say we do have plans in place to reduce noise. We are expecting our sound proofing to be finished in the next few months, so hopefully next time you come to visit you will see a vast improvement. We would love the opportunity to welcome you back again soon, for you to enjoy our delicious menu and our new sound proofing!

Absolutely beautiful restaurant. Breathtaking views, wonderful, friendly, helpful staff and exquisite food. If you want to sit outside and enjoy the views even more there are tables with heated seats and blankets provided. We were staying at the holiday park around 1.5 miles away and due to the walk back on an A road so not safe with children we asked them to book us a taxi. At this point one of the lovely, kind waiters said he would take us back because taxi's charge a fortune for a short journey. We were so grateful and it really is going above and beyond what is required. I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough, everything about it is perfect.

Excellent restaurant with varied menu from breakfast and pub classics to innovative starters and mains. Very friendly welcome and attentive service. Was noisy when we first arrived with a weekend lunch sitting in full swing but much more comfortable after a few large parties left. The outstanding selling point is the position of the restaurant above the coast with amazing views. We were advised to eat at lunchtime this time of the year to take advantage of the view.
