Wow! What a gorgeous restaurant, food was amazing, service was timely and efficient and the surroundings are bright and modern.
Great steak and starters. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff
This was my first time to Gaucho and what a great place. The staff were amazingly friendly. There was a relaxed atmosphere with a live musician, which was great for a place in the city.
The food was brilliant and the steak was perfectly cooked. I would recommend this place to everyone.
I recently dined at the Gaucho at London, Tower Bridge and enjoyed so much I thought I'd give the Birmingham branch a try.
Overall the food was of a same standard as London. Excellent food. We had a 300gm Sirlion and 400gm rib eye both cooked medium rare. If you don't like a bit of blue suggest you go for medium.
The service was mixed. On arrival there was no host to greet us, we had to walk into the bar area and still no-one served us, the host was busy dealing with a few customers, I guess as it was lunch time the staffing levels were on the low side. She eventually dealt with us asking if we had a reservation and if we wanted to go directly to our table or have a drink at the bar. We had a drink at the bar and the barman I would score 1/5, utterly miserable not a smile on his face. We were shown to our table by the host at our booked time of 12:30pm.
The waitress was much better, very friendly and attentive would have scored her 4.5.5.
Now what got me was the prices, although a steak was the same price as London it did include chips, which in the Capital would have added £5 per portion. Also the service charge here was 10% vs 12.5% in the Tower Bridge branch..... but hey the latter has absolutely stunning views, whereas Birmingham is in a basement with no natural light.
With 4 glasses of Chandon sparkling wine, 2 starters, 2 mains, 500ml pot of Cab Sav and a coffee the bill came to £155 including service.
I am a fan of Gaucho from previous meals in their London restaurants; however this experience in Birmingham did not live up to expectations. Don't get me wrong the steaks were excellent as usual and the wine superb. However, for the money you pay I would expect a higher level of service e.g. wine service and our table was not great. For a business dinner and would have preferred a round table in a quieter spot in the restaurant.
Lovely environment and excellent waitress, made our night warm 👍🏻
Gaucho has been my favourite restaurant for many years now and once again they did not disappoint with this newer offering in Birmingham. I do miss the previous black and white branding, but it has not been to its detriment. They have still maintained a high-end image with swanky decor, high standards in customer service and excellent food. I have been recommending Gaucho to everyone I know throughout the years. It has been faithful to always deliver a wonderful eating experience. Thank you Gaucho...until next time...
Had an amazing time, food was delicious, service was really professional. We will be returning
The music was extraordinarily loud and was unpleasant. This was very disappointing after visiting 1 - 2 years earlier and we did not experience this before.
Brilliant. Great service and great food!!
The food at Gaucho is amazing! The fact that they don’t bother giving you a steak knife just goes to show how soft the steak is. You probably don’t need any sides with your meal as the amount of chips that you get is plenty for a meal.
This is definitely a place to go for a special occasion, and the price tag reflects that. The starters are ridiculously expensive, hence why we didn’t have any.
On the down side, the music is way to loud for a restaurant, where you want to be able to have a conversation. It also states that there is a dress code of smart casual but there were people in trainers, hoodies and baseball caps. This was disappointing when the majority of people had clearly made an effort.
Overall a beautiful meal but would be better with quieter music.
Not much vegatairisn choice I would have preferred a little more
Pre concert meal, and absolutely will be back. Food and service outstanding!!!!
We celebrated our first anniversary and the staff was very warm and welcoming and made us feel comfortable and safe.
Steaks were amazing, our waiter was brilliant. I made a mistake ordered my steak to be cooked a bit too rare for my liking and he handled so graciously and sorted it out without inconvenience which was greatly appreciated.
You walk down a plush carpeted area into the reception area where we were greeted by a stunning young lady who took our coats and showed us to the bar area. Great ambiance and atmosphere. Bar staff were really helpful and solved an issue I had with the menu as a vegetarian. The menu offered a 2 or 3 course set meal or a la Carter dining. We chose the set menu. Food was to die for. So tasty! My husband had a steak and I had mushroom tagliatelle. Both dishes were totally amazing and so delicious. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant for a wonderful dining experience. Thank you. We will be back !
Lovely restaurant. Atmosphere was nice and the steak was perfect.
Simply amazing. Easily the best steak I've ever had. The servis is great as well, polite and well informed. We were served by Alex.
First time around and suitably impressed. The service was good would probably go again
Amazing food, the best steak I have ever had. Service was excellent, not intrusive. A lovely meal was enjoyed by all the party.
Excellent food. Friendly helpful and attentive service.
Met the wife after work for a drink and food. Thought we would try Gaucho as not been before. amazing service and great food. We will be back again soon.
Great dining experience as always!
Really good steak. Gorgeous decor and nice ambience. Nicest restaurant I’ve been to in a long term. Warm and comfortable. Fantastic.
Staff obviously told to push al the most expensive items. The set price menus never mentioned and only one starter arrived. You just feel pressurised when the staff do not offer the deals that are shown on the internet
Food was superb service was great. Only slight issue was that I found the volume of the music intrusive. I am already saving for a return visit.
Great food at a great price. Only let down was the presentation of the meals, would have been nice to receive it all on one plate.
We had a lovely meal at Gaucho's but lots did seem to go wrong. The steak couldn't be faulted but cold mash (twice), giving us bottled not tap water, forgetting to ask for our drinks order and serving the steaks the wrong way round was a bit less than our expectations. It was just one of those occasions! They dealt with the issues very well and we were looked after as a result of the problems and because of this I will return. !
Good steak but poor sides / peppercorn sauce. Bland chicken. Overpriced & 10% service charge was definitely not worth it.
Lovely venue, decadent interior, great ambiance, amazing service and fantastic food. We went for an 18th birthday celebration and they really put the effort in to help us celebrate this special occasion. The waiter was both attentive and extremely knowledgeable, suggesting dishes based on our preferences. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals, particularly the rib-eye sharing platter which is most definitely the best steak we have ever had. It is safe to say that we will definitely be returning.
Wonderful all round, relaxed atmosphere and excellent food.
The quality of the steak was excellent, cooked as requested. Very disappointed with the quality and choice of sides! The chips served were stale and dry; the portion of mushrooms was too salty.....hence spoiled the meal..
Three friends and I went for my 65th birthday celebrations. We had a little difficulty talking over the background music which was just a little too loud; and it was, for some of us very expensive. However, that aside, it was excellent. The food, the waiting staff (who were very knowledgable, and helpful) about the various items on the menu, and were able to answer all our many questions) - indeed all the staff I encountered - were prefect. (The toilets were were also good: very nicely decorated, and seemed very clean.) Although it was a Sunday, the restaurant was full, yet it was very pleasant not to feel crowded as the tables had a good amount of space between them. Half my party are vegetarian and they managed to find appropriate food they enjoyed, the other half of us had wonderful steaks. (The vegetarians did mention that their choice was somewhat limited, however.) Having recent been diagnosed as diabetic I very wary, and I did indeed get slightly carried away by the last course, but it was amazing food, and the best meal I have had in a long time. (A version with sugar substitutes would be wonderful, but I doubt that any restaurant will ever do that!) Thank you Goucho, it was great.
Set menu was great value. Food was delicious and cocktails were made well. Service was great, our gluten and dairy free meals were catered for. Restaurant is beautiful and perfect setting for a catch up with friends.
Best steak we' ve ever had! Great service, a little wait to be seated but entirely worth it. Please open one restaurant in Cardiff!
Steak was amazing , best steak and prawns ive had , could be more sides to choose from , lovely service from our waiter , restaurant its self is very upmarket and is a good location for pictures , will defo be back , quite expensive so only on special ocasions
Brilliant food and service
waitress was lovely and so was the woman who took our order. really nice staff
We booked a table at 8:30pm on Friday. We were starving but waited for 25 minutes before someone bothered to serve us. A tall girl with a pony tail stood by the till, played with her fingers and pretended not to see us even we waved to her several times. She then tried to get something to do by setting tables. Perhaps our table was not under her care but she surely could come around and say 'sorry for keep you waiting and I will get the person who looks after you to come and take the order.' She just wouldn't care. Most waiters and waitresses just won't look at you. Really funny!
Things improved as Macro came to serve. He was apologetic and gave us some free bread as compensation. He was attentive and kind. He saved the day but unfortunately first impression counts more. Without him, the rating would be zero.
Steak was good but not excellent with the price we paid. We won't visit again.
Great restaurant. Prices aren’t cheap but if you want great quality food and great quality service, you have you pay for it! For someone who is fussy when it comes to steak (namely me), it was first class!
