The service was fantastic, steak very tender, full of flavour, cooked to perfection and the sides were also delicious! Great Malbec wine!
Super service and great food. A bit quieter than anticipated.
I booked this meal for my family for my husbands birthday. When the restaurant called me to confirm the booking on the day I was impressed that they had picked up about the birthday and said there would be a special candle. That didn’t materialise. My steak was fatty although the rest of the party’s were good. I was offered another one or an alternative although I declined. Service from Pablo the waiter was excellent. The circular table we had was close to another table which meant to serve our table he could only do half and then had to go round the other table to finish serving our table. That was a bit of a strange layout. Overall it was god nice setting but not amazing value for money.
Good restaurant, with a good meat, not argentine quality meat but far away the average in UK, the service was great
Beautiful food, amazing service! Adore the ‘lomo’ Steak. Wow wow wow!! Our ‘go to’ for special occasions!
Wonderful from start to finish with exceptionally attentive staff looking after you from cocktails to fabulous wine list to amazing steaks but the very best thing was by far the staff who were very knowledgeable, and very friendly. To be highly recommended
Gaucho was amazing! Both my wife and I enjoyed our lunch for our anniversary. Fillet steak medium and cooked to perfection! 5* restaurant.
The steaks were very good, but the chips were luke warm, the side salad was limp, the wine mediocre, the service good up to the taking of orders then a bit remiss and slow. Skipped the dessert because we ran out of time and enthusiasm.
Waiter tried to slip in bottled water after we'd asked for tap water. Waiter also gave us some misinformation about the exclusivity of the wine, which we found, via on Vivino to be available in many stores.
Not worth the money.
Won't go back
Best steak in Edinburgh
Service was impeccable, our waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive
Exceptional service and very good food. Perhaps a bit dark for my liking but well worth the visit. Would highly recommend for steak lovers - 1st class, well done.
Charlie and the team were great. The food was great. Top steaks.
Excellent meal and service. Will definitely be back.
The steak we both had was one of the best steaks that we had tasted they were cooked to perfection one being medium and the other medium to well done. My wife had a cocktail in the bar before we ate and she loved it, it was her birthday and the sweet she ordered came with a happy birthday message which the staff organised themselves.
Waiter was very knowledgeable and helpful. Staff were all very friendly , lovely decor, food delicious
A beautiful meal and the staff and service they gave was fantastic.
Great steak and great service. The service was friendly & informative but the food was fabulous.
Excellent food well presented by efficient friendly informed staff. The atmosphere was subdued as we were eating very early in evening. I am sure would be buzzing later.
Best restaurant I have ever been In food and service 5 star.Your allocated waiter eplains everything to you about the food and wine. A variety of steak is brought to your table and everything is explained in great detail so it makes it easy to order and the same with the wine you can sample before ordering your wine. The waiter was amazing and nothing was too much. Highly recommend.
Had great experience, overall it was great, staff food and the restaurant was amazing
We went to celebrate my husbands 65th birthday, our daughters gave him a gift card. We were very impressed, the decor is spectacular, the food was amazing and the service was first class, the staff are so knowledgable and helpful, very friendly. We just hope that the recent news about the franchise/company doesnt affect the Edinburgh restaurant
Excellent steaks, highly recommend. WIll be back.... at some point ;)
We had been recommended Gaucho by a few people, but had never gotten around to booking anything. That changed when My Wife's boss Will, gifted her a £100 gift card for Gaucho... Fantastic news, again, with busy schedules etc, we hadn't got around to booking, when eventually found a date, and booked. Then we found out Gaucho were possibly going into Administration... Shocking news. But luckiky our gift card was to be honoured.
Anyway, we attended on Saturday 21st July at 18.15.
As soon as we entered Gaucho My wife and I could tell it was a classy establishment.
We were greeted, graciously, taken to our table/booth. Our waitress for tge evening was Dominique, who was very educated in all the steak, wine etc on offer, and made us feel really welcome and at ease.
The food was absolutely out of this world, the meat (Ancho Ribeye and Fillet medallions) was beautifully cooked to our requirements and full of flavour. Hand cut chips, Lemon Spinach and Mixed Bean sides also exquisite. Not to mention the wee bread entrée.
The Wine ( Luigi Bosca) Tempranello was delicious and served at the perfect temperature.
We finished off by sharing (we were filling up quickly) the Dolce Leche cheesecake..... WOW.... and a nice Tea and Cappuccino.
The meal was awesome and would recommend to anyone wanting a delicious meal and outstanding service and experience. If Gaucho closes it will be criminal and a complete disaster, it needs to stay... And I'm sure it will... Class wins every time. Well done Gaucho.
From the minute you stepped into the restaurant you were greeted enthusiastically. Our waiter was very authentic whether or not he is Argentinian, Spanish or just a good actor! Cuts of steaks presented at the table is a nice touch and warm bread and Argentinian butter dip were amazing. When the bill came we were also pleasantly surprised as it was very reasonable. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.
Burger couldn't be picked up because it was soggy at the bottom. Chicken was very dry. Only 3 tables booked on a Saturday lunch-time while the restaurants next door had waiting lists. Food very poor for the price, no wonder the chain are in trouble.
Was really impressed by both the food and the service. Was completely different as we would choose to eat in local restaurants and not opt for a chain but we were nonetheless very impressed and will return.
Love it, just wish that you would open up a Gaucho in the United States.
Absolutely fabulous restaurant. The steak was to die for as was the tuna starter. But I have to comment on the service...I have never experienced service like it in any restaurant. The waiter was outstanding. Very knowledgeable without being obtrusive ...we were so impressed. Just wish I could remember his name.
Food and service excellent as usual with this chain. The lomo cuts of meat were particularly good. A little warm downstairs in the restaurant due to the heatwave outside, the staff were happy to move us upstairs to finish the evening.
Food was superb. Steak was sensational (Gaucho sampler) with 2 sauces and sides which were complementary. Staff were brilliant, particularly Dominica who was very informative and polite. Highly recommended if you enjoy a steak experience.
Had an amazing anniversary dinner- husband got the 500g fillet and was not dissapointed! Our server Caroline was absolutely lovely also!!
Food was excellent as always, the lady serving us was also excellent, very knowledgeable and very enthusiastic. She also made sure my daughter was made to feel very welcome for her birthday. The only slight concern was that the rest of the staff seemed to actively look away when we tried to get their attention. This happened on a number of occasions. It just felt like there were lots of staff there, but all the tables had to wait for the one who seemed to be serving everyone.
Best restaurant in Edinburgh for service, food, and ambience by far. Will be a definite return.
Restaurant is nicely decorated. Waitress was very friendly & helpful. Fillet steak was overcooked & ribeye was a little over cooked. We asked for medium but there was no pink meat. Toilets were not serviced very often as there was no toilet roll on two occasions.
Exceptional food experience. Not cheap, but worth it.
Lovely decor, great service, amazing food & wine. Loved everything about Gaucho Edinburgh.
We were impressed from the moment that the four of us set foot in the restaurant; the greeting was friendly, and we were escorted promptly downstairs to the table. The ambience was friendly and relaxing. The waiter, Charlie, was excellent - informative, friendly and efficient. He suggested an excellent red wine - and passed the test of not suggesting the most expensive on the wine list. Gauchos place a great deal of effort in explaining their steaks; the information was well received. We started will simple tomato-based salads that were nicely presented, tasty, and not too filling. My wife and I shared an extremely tender Chateaubriand with chunky chips and broccoli. Ice cream and coffee made an excellent finish to the meal. Full marks!
First class meal and exceptional service, we all loved it. Will certainly return and also recommend to friends and family
Prompt friendly service. Very polite and knowledgeable staff. Food excellent quality and absolutely delicious. Sides portion sizes were generous. A definite treat.
Another great meal at Gaucho. Party of 3 opted for the Sharing Argentine beef sampler which was great and able to taste all 4 cuts available. Great value given 2 sides and 2 sauces are included (and they brought additional marinades and sauces as requested) Desserts (cheesecake and chocolate torte) both very good and just the right size. Service was warm friendly and professional as always. will return.
