   An excellent centrally-located steak restaurant within a 10-minute walk of Waverley Station. Imaginative starters - I enjoyed a fresh watermelon salad. The steak was very tender, and washed done with a smooth Malbec wine. This was my 5th visit, and I will happily return.

   Gaucho serves the best steak in Edinburgh. The meat is always succulent and cooked perfectly to your individual taste, but with that added Argentine burst of flavours. The sides, especially the macaroni cheese and chips, are exquisite. The service is absolutely top notch, with the staff welcoming, responsive and extremely pleasant.

   First visit to Gaucho and came away happy and satisfied. Great ribeye steak cooked exactly the way I like it. Great atmosphere with a mix of age groups but mostly a younger crowd. Service was great - very attentive. I noticed our waiter chase up my wine order without prompting, even though I only ordered it 5 mins earlier. It's pricey, but for a special occasion definitely worth it. W'll be back.

    Superb steaks, service great decor & ambience. Sides less so, sauces (esp. blue cheese) not great. Overall enjoyed the visit but very similar can be had for much less ££ elsewhere.

    A truly lovely experience with an even exceptional server. Delicious food, beautiful interiors and an ambience that made you want to have a chat. Shout to Viola for taking care of our table.     When for dinner alone on a Thursday, Was greeted by a friendly host who sat me at the bar for a minute while they sat the guests before me. Was then lead into the restaurant area(👌) by another friendly member of staff, had a few different drinks, had the scallops, half lobster and a spiral cut ribeye with mash. Finished off with a scoop of lovely chocolate ice cream and an espresso martini 😋 All were really nice will definitely visit again, will be interested to see how the Piccadilly restaurant compairs.     The food was OK, the hostess ladies were lovely too however I have been to Gucho many times and the food quality could have been better but above that, what really let the experience down was our tables server ‘Alex’. He had quite a poor attitude, for some reason carrying hot plates without proper hand protection and then shaking his head when we didn’t know what he was saying after he referred to what should have been the ‘Caudril’ as something completely different. Surely he should either learn the basic steak menu at a steak restaurant so as to avoid confusing people, or adopt a better attitude when talking to customers in a front facing role. On top of that he didn’t bother bringing over condiments and we had to physically get up and request them from another waiter (who was actually pleasant), and the restaurant only had a few tables in so I don’t think it could be down to being a busy time of day (1:45pm). Overall, not the best experience and it is a shame he is letting down what is usually a lovely team.

    We had sirloin steak with fries and peppercorn sauce which was delicious. I was disappointed there was no onion rings on the menu which makes it for me when having steak.

    Never eaten here before but went with a friend. Greeted very warmly by the reservation manager with good advice. Lovely large room downstairs not overly crowded. Attentive and knowledgeable waitress. We chose the ribeye beef with sides of chips and broccoli and sauces of chimichurri and peppercorn. We asked for the beef to be medium and it was perfect, tasted gorgeous and really melt in the mouth. Our side dishes and the sauces were great too. Maybe the broccoli could have been a bit more al dente for me but each to their own. We had almost (but not quite) the cheapest bottle of wine on the wine list - an Argentinien Malbec which was great with the food but priced at £33.50 so you have to be prepared to pay a lot for a bottle of wine. Lovely atmosphere and when leaving we were offered to have taxi ordered for us but we thought some fresh air to walk off all the food was needed. Would love to go back again.

    So we had lunch on a Tuesday as a birthday treat for a family Member. We were the only people in which made it feel a little strange but was ok as the restaurant is lovely. The service was good, although a couple of times I waited longer than I’d hoped to get the waiters attention. The food was nice, but not mind blowing. I ordered a blue cheese sauce which seemed like they’d forgotten to add the blue cheese too hence sent it back and they replaced accordingly. We ordered the steak sharer which was nice. 4 different types of stakes on a central platter. One of the steaks was slightly underdone. We ordered medium rare and it was rare. But was still nice. I think my main annoyance was that the food wasn’t piping hot when it came out. So, yeah all in nice meal. Would I go again? Probably not.

    Poor choice of appetisers. The one I did choose was unavailable but only told this 10 minutes after ordering. Had to ask for wine list twice so we’re sitting for 15 minutes after arrival with water only. Ordered a bottle of still water which server topped up with tap water. Main course was served without side salad as requested. Steaks were not very warm. Overall a disappointing experience.
