Steaks were delicious, perfectly cooked. Sides and sauces were also very tasty, would have preferred a more generous portion of sauce. Great atmosphere, attentive service. Not cheap but would come back for a special dinner.

The best restaurant Iv ever been to, the steak was the greatest Iv ever had and everything else we ate was cooked to perfection. Staff were very accommodating and made sure our visit to gaucho was the best experience, we will definitely be back for sure

Steak was of a very high standard, but chips were distinctly average. £80 for a bottle of house wine is acceptable for a Michelin Star restaurant, but not in a Pretentious steak house.

First visit to this restaurant. The staff were very friendly and helpful, however the food is very overpriced and quite ordinary. Our chips were over cooked and I ordered roast vegetables as a side which consisted of 3 small thumb size carrots and 3 parsnips! We didn’t feel full at the end of the evening and cannot see us returning.

The restaurant is elegant and incorporates a high end design. To me, this did not feel like a Gaucho's. The tables are small and don't offer much room if you're dining with 4 or more. From the get go, the energy in the restaurant felt chaotic. The music was loud and at times could not hear people on your table. Locating the washrooms felt confusing, if you did not know to turn left you would walk into the private dining area. Signage would help. We had 3 different servers, one of them seemed stressed and you could sense this. Perhaps they had too many table to serve. The standard lacked a personal touch and felt rushed. Our food came to the table whilst still eating the bread. This was about ten minutes after the bread arrived. Once the steaks arrived they mostly stood to the high standards. Couple of the steaks were rarer than expected but I would put this down to the cut of meat. The chips were a little limp and lacked flavour. Overall, I would say the dining experience was chaotic. It just didn't feel like a Gaucho restaurant.

Great service, great food and a real treat. It would be helpful if there were just a little more choice for non meat eaters so we can bring my husband next time!! There are lots of meat eaters whose other half's don't eat meat!

The waitress was very nice and good at recommending different options, however you could tell some of it was blatant upselling. Was disappointed to see her talking with one customer casually for 5-10 minutes when we were ready to order. Our starter was the sausage sharer which was tasty, but lacking in portion size with only one skewer for two people coming to £20. The huge disappointment was the main which I forget the name of but was a cut of sirloin, fillet and ribeye per person, coming to £40 per person. We ordered medium rare, for both of us we got one cut medium rare, one steak bleu and one even rarer than that. We should've sent it back, but we were famished. It seemed to be an issue that night as the table next to us complained about a severely undercooked cut too. We aren't wine experts, but we enjoyed our bottle of a dry red again forgetting the name of it coming to £44. The desert was mediocre for myself and an upset for my wife, I got the banana pancake for £7 and my wife got the sticky apple and date pudding for £8-10 which was very dry and didn't have any taste of apple or date in it, just sugar. Overall I'd say avoid Gaucho as there are much cheaper places to go where you'll get very nice cuts, cooked how you ask and you don't have to wait for the server for each stage, for e.g: Rio.

I made a reservation at 7:45 on Saturday for myself and friends for my birthday. On arrival, we were asked to sit at the bar to wait for our table. I wouldn’t have minded, but we were sat at the bar until 8:50 waiting to be seated, whilst the 2 bar staff were serving drinks for the whole restaurant and the bar, so during this time was only able to have 1 drink. When we were finally seated, I’ve read in other reviews that the waiter brought the steaks to the table to help you decide, this didn’t happen. The waiter then took another ten minutes to come over with any wine lists or to take our order as he was chatting at the bar, so I left the table to go and find another member of staff. I was then followed by the waiter, I explained I had booked the table over an hour ago and we still hadn’t even ordered our food, to which he said that Saturdays they have to prioritise and that he was coming now, I didn’t like his attitude and seemed frustrated I was complaining. We then ordered the food, although I ordered medium rare steak, it was blu/rare and cold. I asked for half a lobster which they also didn’t have. The food was very average for the price, the place has a good atmosphere but the music is too loud for a restaurant, we were shouting to speak to eachother. The waiter came to clear the table and apologised for the wait, saying he hoped the food had made up for it, it didn’t. We then asked for the bill, to find over 12% gratuity charge. I asked for it to be taken off before paying due to the service we’d recieved, it was to celebrate my 30th with friends and this ruined the evening. He said it was fine and that we didn’t have to pay, but then went off to check everything was okay with the payment before we could leave. Overall a disappointing meal which then made us late for the plans which followed. Overrated and overpriced food, and overbooked restaurant with terrible service. I won’t be returning

We used to use Gaucho when we lived in London and we’ve enjoyed using the branches in Manchester and Leeds when we’ve gone on our Big City weekends away - so you can imagine our joy when we found out a Gaucho has opened up in Newcastle now that we live in Carlisle - and it did not disappoint. We went for the Gaucho Platter-perfect for the 3 of us to share and all gorgeous steaks, the chips and pepper on sauce were perfect too. The Mrs whipped down a couple of cocktails, I was driving and the little ‘’in joined in with a couple of soft drinks. Craig served us perfectly too and we also had a good laugh watching the world go by outside. A great addition to Newcastle’s ‘going out’ scene. Fabulous

My pasta was very dry and tough. It was as it had been left under the hot plate too long. Got the apple pudding which was also very dry and lacking flavour. If you want a steak probably a good place to go as my husband enjoyed his. I’m a pescatarian and didn’t enjoy my meal. Overall lacking flavour and very dry.

My friend and I, had a lovely evening in Gaucho lastnight. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming. I loved the decor and it was spotless. The girl who served us, was fantastic, I’m sorry but I can’t remember her name. She was very knowledgable regarding the cuts of meat and wine and very friendly. We both had steak, I had the chorizo cut, my friend had the fillet. Cooked to perfection, We also got the truffle Mac and cheese, which was so good, the spinach which I absolutely loved and the chips. I will definitely be turning to Gaucho, we had such a great, relaxed evening. Thank you!

Food was fantastic however be prepared for costs to be above average. 2 x bottles of sparkling water - £10.00!! Also bread provided that wasn't asked for but was charged for. 12.5% gratuity automatically added. Very limited options if you only want 1 glass of wine due to having to drive, and single glass options very expensive - cheapest red wine per glass was £14.00. All prices are on menu but a lot of 'up selling'. In sum however food and service was very good.
