Contemporary Mexican
Gaviotas explores the ingredients of the Mexican culinary tradition and incorporate innovative dishes to create a unique proposal. At the Chef's table you can taste a special 5-course menu, specially designed for you by our Chef. If you want to choose something from our menu, we recommend the traditional ‘Stone Soup’ prepared in the heat of hot stones. For drinks, you can order one of our 15 varieties of ‘Clericot’ or a Mexican boutique wine from Adobe Guadalupe House. The delicate mixtures of flavors that make up the dishes of Gaviotas and our cava with an extensive variety of wines, will make the perfect pairing for an unforgettable night. Set against live piano music, Gaviotas is the ideal restaurant for an elegant dinner in a warm and cozy atmosphere. Children under 12 years old are not allowed.

The duck was disappointing. There was no skin on it( crispy) it tasted like it was cooked in a crockpot.
I did not like my red snapper- it was bland and tough. Did not care for the black sauce that came with it.

Awful! We made reservations for NYE dinner and took two cabs to get to the restaurant. When we arrived, we were told the restaurant was closed. They tried to tell us we had made the reservation for the wrong night until I showed them the confirmation. They blamed Open Table. No apology. So we had no dinner plans, had to take multiple cabs to another random restaurant and this ruined our New Years Eve.

The two soups we ordered were outstanding: the green, Aztec soup, and the seafood soup. (The menu uses Nahuatl-language names for all items, so no one can remember the names).

The dessert was also excellent: burnt-popcorn ice cream!

The two main courses were very disappointing, however. The turkey was too dry. The lobster tail was very overcooked. It was actually hard to cut and very chewy. It was innovative in that it was deep fried, and I'm aware that Latin America typically serves seafood cooked more than in North America/Europe, but the seafood soup had perfectly cooked (rare) seafood in it. So I know they know how to cook seafood.

So, overall, a mixed experience.

Restaurant would not acknowledge our reservation with Open Table, insisted on a dress code and was an awful experience. Food sent back.
