The restaurant is set in a large conservatory, which you enter from the road via corridor with various flooring pot plants on one side. We have the guinea fowl which was very pleasant indeed, though if you dislike garlic you might be advised to pass on the salsa.
The first course was about the right size and well cooked. My wife had the scallops and I had the pear and cheese salad.
Service was attentive and helpful.
Excellent lunch menu, friendly efficient service and a very pleasant setting.
Good food. Good Service. Was a little quiet but I visited on a Sunday night. Would recommend.
Fantastic vibe and delicious food. The staff was very friendly and our server made great recommendations
Rude staff, low quality food yet with a pleasing environment. Would only recommend for drinks or coffee
Amazing food, beautiful venue and an amazing place to spend valentines
Nice food and good service seen as it was valantines day it was quite busy. Saying this though there was a nice ambiance.
Food was good, but not worth the prices. I ordered a lobster with risotto, but could not see the lobster in the end as it was swimming in sauce and rice. Disapointing.
Waiting staff dressed casually when the proces suggest a higher standard.
The food was horrible, tasteless
Great place to have breakfast. Staff is very helpful and the food is great.
Loved it! Food was amazing, service was amazing and the ambiance was beautiful. Will definetly be going again :)
Great little place with a nice atmosphere. Totally recommend it. Enjoyed the food throughly.
The overall experience was delightful. We had a romantic experience , left full up of delicious food and felt staff had been professional and attentive.
One main course rack of lamb was very disappointing for the price and the ice cream desert was underwhelming but guess I chose the wrong thing. Nice evening though.
Very overpriced on the food. Absolutely not worth the money. Presented beautifully. Underdelivers on flavour. Found the board pasta overcooked. The guinea fowl bland. Not one person in my table was happy with their food. We could eat that quality at another place with much better prices. I'm annoyed as the place is pretty. I liked the ambiance. And. The outing was placed as a special treat. Ended in disappointment. Will never return. Will not recommend.
Gees is in a lovely light conservatory which means you take your chance on the level of background noise. It just depends on who is in the restaurant. On this occasion, one of our party found it slightly loud. Otherwise, the food quality is reliable and the service attentive.
Overpriced food in a poorly lit venue. Very disappointing.
Perfect....😀friendly....wonderful menu... efficient staff...
I ate from the fixed price, 2 course menu - £14.95. However it wasn't until I got home that I saw I'd been charged over £16. I didn't receive a detailed receipt and paid via 'contactless'. The waitress did not make me aware of any auto-added gratuity. I'm disappointed in that aspect. The food was nice, the temperature was lovely and the ambience was nice.
Beautiful setting, amazing food and cocktails and the staff were really friendly. Would highly recommend.
A restaurant we visit every time we are in Oxford- always worth it
Service and ambience is fantastic! This really is a conversation starter as the place has character. Food was disappointing for the price. 10 of us went along and sadly the burgers were remarkably dry and the vegan options we’re terrible. Having said that the stone bass was okay. Wouldn’t recommend if looking at budgets as the prices are expensive for a pretty average meal!
Excellent brunch, very good quality granola with whipped yoghurt and eggs with chorizo and potatoes.
The food tasted of nothing unfortunately. It was a cozy place but a disappoinment overall.
Loved the whole meal, the lemon sole was absolutely delicious as well as the monkfish tail, one of the best meals we've had in a long time. The deserts were just as tasty, the apple and pear crumble with custard and chocolate nemesis were everything we wanted it to be and more. The whiskey sour cocktail was something to write home about, a proper cocktail. We will be retuning next time we visit the area!
I hadn't been to Gee's for quite a while and chose to take some overseas visitors here for dinner since it was close to where they were staying. It was a bit hit and miss and not the treat I had expected. Whilst the food was good on the whole (the halibut and monkfish were really excellent) there were other elements which were 'misses': the chocolate 'nemesis' - an unremarkable slice of chocolate cake dumped on the plate with average ice cream; the cavalo nero was more than usually soggy; and the mushroom risotto was rather bland. I booked the table for 7.45, noted the fact that tables can only be booked for 2 hours, and was then surprised that we were asked to wait at the small bar for 15 minutes whilst the people on our table finished their coffee. I'd also forgotten how noisy the conservatory space is when fully occupied, such that it was quite difficult to hear and be heard. Service was friendly and good, but I think importing the London restaurant tendency of a mandatory 12.5% service charge is a bad habit to have adopted. So a bit underwhelming, I'm afraid.
Went Friday and Saturday evening and had an excellent meal both nights the everything was fantastic and I would recommend to one and all as we have never had a bad experience in all the times we have visited this great little restaurant.
Excellent service. Gorgeous food. Lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a date night.
Thanks so much.
Really disappointing food at a once well loved restaurant. Over cooked dry burger (which may well have been frozen) and bland risotto. Staff kindly took the burger off the bill, but we won’t return in a hurry.
I had not been to Gee's for few years so we were very happy to visit again to have lovely dinner and nice wine.. Yes we will be back thank you!
My brill was slightly over cooked but everything else was spot on in terms of the kitchen. The ambience is lovely and relaxed and the staff every efficient with service quick
Must drive past here every time we go into Oxford and say we will eat there, so after a few years finally gave it a try.
Lovely setting , food is excellent and well presented, the Stone bass and lamb we ate both earned top marks. It’s not the cheapest place in Town, wine list was overpriced but thoroughly enjoyed the food.
Noisy where we sat , party of 4 women next to my wife and I had some particularly loud members, so maybe not the place for a quiet romantic meal and the tables are close together.
Service was excellent and very friendly, the added (optional) Londonesque service charge of 12.5% is a bit of a rip off, but we would have happily tipped that anyway.
Nice restaurant we will return to.
We had a very enjoyable time celebrating my daughter's birthday. Excellent ambience.
All that marred the experience was the weather - a grey midwinter sky looms weightily on glass walls and roof. So the absence of flowers and colourful table decorations was keenly felt. The food was excellent, but it was about as cheerless as eating in a railway waiting room.
Delicious, well-cooked food in a beautiful setting.
Food wasn't really up to snuff. Expensive but not outrageously so. Nice ambience and good service.
It was our first time at Gee's and we loved it. The atmosphere was great when we arrived and the staff looked after us very well from our arrival to when we left. Definitely will recommend the restaurant and we shall return.
Thank you and wishing the staff a very Happy New Year.
I come to Gees with my wife and occasionally friends on a regular basis. It's never disappointed in the many years I've lunched and dined here. This occasion - a New Year's Eve lunch with friends - was no exception. The tapas starter and linguine main were particularly good, helped down with plenty of NZ Sauvignon blanc. What better way to see out 2018? Already looking forward to an excuse to return this year.
Great lovely conservatory feel with lovely decor and good food!
I felt a little on the pricy side, but a really lovely team and ambiance in the building!
Such a beautiful restaurant. Food for brunch was great. The barista sent out a latte for a flat white and a cappuccino for a flat white but otherwise excellent and would recommend to my friends (perhaps not for coffee though).
