Excellent as always. Delicious food in lovely setting.
Always a fabulous vibe, delicious menu, five star service and the most Fabulous cocktails!
I was so pleased the Paella was still on the specials as this really is the best Paella I’ve tastes outside of Spain itself! Even then it would be up there in the top 5! Love love love this place. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
Lovely but just be aware it’s quite noisy when busy :)
Great atmosphere in the conservatory. Spacious and pleasantly warm. Good food and choice of wines.
Definitely worth a visit!
Food was excellent - paella was super, monk fish also excellent. Very cool venue. The combination starter platter was excellent variety of samples - quite filling
Atmosphere and food were superb!
Good food and service. Bit pricey. Very loud. Tables close together.
A lovely restaurant, easy to park , good service . Food was great but not amazing but it was reasonable value .
Generous helpings and lovely staff. The restaurant is sunny and spacious.
The prix fixed menu was not good; but the other day that we ordered from the menu it was very good.
This restaurant was lovely. I'd heard about Gee's from a few Blogs about what to do in Oxford pre-visit and was not disappointed. The atmosphere was great - lively and energetic and the food was fabulous. Service top notch and overall a lovely evening was had. I would definitely recommend or visit again if i ever find myself back in Oxford!
Very kind to my Mum on her birthday. She definitely felt special and the food was great.
We were really looking forward to our first visit to Gees's as the write-ups sounded good. Overall we were happy with the meal, but it was certainly nothing special. Our advocado starters were easy, simple and tasty and the main courses were adequate too, but that was it. The idea of eating in a large greenhouse, with its own back-story, was appealing but somehow the food did not match this 'green' concept... also, the interior was rather basic, nothing lush or bountiful. The staff, although efficient, were a bit serious and a few smiles would have helped.
We had a late Sunday lunch at Gee's (3:30pm) and although initially disappointed that the Sunday roasts were no longer available, the standard lunch menu was varied and the food was excellent. Staff were attentive but not intrusive - always looking for a signal when attending to other tables - so the service was excellent too. The Victorian, listed conservatory is a great venue and well worth the 15 min walk from the city centre.
Incredible building, something that is really different and a good varied menu available. We were here for a birthday dinner and loved it!
Beautiful conservatory setting and great food.
While I appreciated the location and ambiance, I could not believe what I got on my plate for value. Just looking at my main course: a tiny heap of gnocchis, not prepared at the restaurant, straight out of a box, with two or three bits of auberigne, a sauce that defies its name and a couple of basil leaves, for ALMOST £16! I am Swiss, and am used to steep prices in restaurants. I love food and don't mind paying a lot for it, but then it needs to be actually prepared and cooked at the restaurant and tasty - oh, and they add 12.5% service charges, which I felt was horrid considering the value for money was lacking to begin with. Not that the service was bad, it just also wasn't "that good". All in all I fet we paid too much for what it was. Hipster location but no food delight to back up or justify the prices.
As always, Gee's makes a great pace for lunch. It manages to be relaxed and yet special at the same time. Good menu and delicious food.
great food, service, and atmosphere
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Oxford
Really amazing beautiful place. The cocktails and food were delicious. We had a slight problem with one of our tomatoes being a bit funny but otherwise it was great. My only complaint was I couldn't finish it!
Lovely setting on a sunny but cold day. Good food and reasonable value
I cannot believe how poor this was. Food, service everything- I’ve been so many times before and can’t believe the standard has dropped so low.
I’m a repeat customer. I love the ambiance, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious and priced reasonably. Gee’s is a lovely location for a special occasion.
A wonderful springtime lunch with old friends. The server was exceptionally nice and efficient.
I always live it and try to go eveytime I am on business in Oxford
Venue good, service good food poor. Main course Sunday roasts looked and tasted as if they had been cooked hours before and were scarcely warm. I have had better food in a local pub at a fraction of the price. We stopped coming to Gees years ago when it went downhill, friends persuaded us to go late last year and it seemed good. I have crossed it off the list again
Loved it! Amazing setting, lovely food and great service. Would highly recommend 😍
Really nice atmosphere and a great meal. Would recommend to anyone that is looking for a lovely evening out. Thank you!
Very pleasant dining experience. Service swift and efficient, staff friendly and helpful
Thank you, my boyfriend did not like his burger meat, and this request for it to be taken away was handled great. And btw your cocktails are awesome!
Gee's is such a wonderful venue. Brunch in the greenhouse on Mothering Sunday was a real treat. Food is creative and excellent quality. It is not cheap but worth it for the experience. Only thing I would change is that a little background jazz would have been perfect.
A wonderful Mothers' Day brunch - attentive service with a smile all round and great atmosphere. We were the first people there and it was nice to see it gently fill up with happy diners. Excellent food (the chorizo in the crashed eggs was incredible), and such a pretty setting. Loved the special touch of some daffodils for my mum when I paid the bill - made us feel very valued as customers and put a smile on her face for the rest of the day.
Although the ambience was good the menu didn't inspire and the quality was poor for the price.
Such a beautiful place to spend an afternoon on a sunny Saturday - really yummy coffee and lovely smiley staff
Gees is one of the better dining experiences. The food is of a very high standard and the service attentive but discreet. We selected one seafood and one guinea fowl, each beautifully prepared. The tables are close but the noise levels are contained possibly due to the high ceilings. The restaurant feels like a former green house. All in all Gees represents one of the best eating experiences in the Oxford area. My wife and I are both "foodies" each of us having lived in France for several years. We therefore we know high quality cuisine when we come across it. We highly recommend Gees.
Dear Charlesfarr2, Thank you for your 5* review. We a thrilled you enjoyed your time here at Gee’s, all comments happily passed on to our proud kitchen team! Kind Regards, Gee's Management
Beautiful atmosphere, great food!
Thannk you for you 5* review! We are delighted you enjoyed your experience. Kind Regards, Gee's Management
Incompetent service, table was a shambles, cold food and spilled drinks. Can’t wait to recommend this to nobody. In fairness they cleared the bill but not confident that should reciprocate a positive review. Absolutely naff.
Dear Anonymous, Thank you taking the time to leave your feedback. These issues have been passed onto our management team and head chef. We apologise that you didn't have an enjoyable experience here at Gee's. We hope if time you will be willing to give us another chance. Kind Regards, Gee's Management
Enjoyed a brunch here, there was a good selection of menu options that all treated great. Good portion sizes for the price in a brilliant setting on a sunny day. The service team were helpful, friendly and attentive throughout.
Dear KLKH, Thank you for you 5* review! We are delighted you enjoyed your experience. We look forward to welcoming you soon. Kind Regards, Gee's Management
Great atmosphere on a busy Friday night at this Oxford institution! Despite being busy the service was friendly and very efficient. Lovely starters - tasty soup and very good braised octopus. My guinea fowl main was superb - beautifully cooked and a very generous portion. My wife's swordfish was unfortunately undercooked but this was immediately rectified on request so not a problem. Excellent bottle of Maremma Italian red.
Gees may be a long established Oxford stalwart but it has definitely kept pace with the times and is definitely worth visiting if you are in Oxford!
