My wife and I had our wedding reception at Gees in 1985. We returned on our anniversary in July this year and enjoyed a lovely meal in this marvelous restaurant. We received a complimentary glass of fizz and our waitress was effecient and attentive. She even signed our menu for us, as a souvenir of our anniversary visit. We will definitely be back again. Well done Gees.
The main problem with Gee's is not the food or the service which were good. It is the NOISE. Despite the iconic venue nothing has been done to reduce the background noise. Even the waiters couldn't hear the orders clearly until they were repeated over. The tiled floor doesn't help! One of out party chose not to come based on experience earlier in the year. One left early so we were down to 8. None of us had dessert. Jeremy Pogford needs to take some serious advice from acoustic expert who would recommend ceiling baffles and wall softeners. The Albert Hall succeeded a few years ago so I'm sure it can be done at Gee's.
Very good food. Only thing was the oil was rancid for the bread.
Good value and good service. Good time between courses.
Wonderful atmosphere, very good food and selections, friendly staff.
The octopus was just right amount of spicy and the rack of lamb was very tender. Nice wine selection
I adore Gees!!! It’s got such an amazing welcoming atmosphere and the building itself is stunning (and very instagram) All the flowers and greenery make it very relaxing and comfortable. The food is incredible and so is the coffee. I had the crashed eggs with chorizo and it was DELICIOUS. My grandma loved Gees so much and half way through the meal she turned to me and said ‘thank you so much for taking me here, I love it, it’s really lovely’ ❤️❤️❤️
Gees was recommended by a friend ! We were visiting oxford for a two day sight seeing trip ! What a lovely evening my family had ! Wonderful food! Great wine and very friendly staff ! Super evening !
We sat outside late evening on a hot day. It was beautiful being near the trees on Banbury road and when the traffic was low. One of our party is hard of hearing so it was excellent being outside and not disturbed by loud noise as is predictable indoors. The waitresses were attentive and caring without it being a big show. My friends are not vegetarians and thought the food outstanding. My vegetarian dishes were excellent and innovative
Gee's is a beautiful spot for a date night dinner. The food was delicious and very well presented. We had the linguine and the lamb, and the cherry and almond tart for dessert. Our waitress was lovely and on the ball for the most part, however, we were waiting a half hour for our bill.
Beautiful, atmospheric setting, great service, lovely fresh food, a little keenly priced in context but overall fantastic.
The food at Gees was mediocre at best. For the price we paid i could of paid less and had a far nicer meal at other restaurants.
I had the Ribeye steak and out of the 8oz that it was supposed to be at least half if not more was fat.
The chips/fries served with the steak was so dry they were horrible. I have had nicer fries at fast food restaurants. I had to wait over 15 minutes for the waiter to bring me vinegar to put on them, at which point my fries were cold which didn't help.
Two people in my group had the burger and this was dripping with grease, not what you would expect.
The waiting staff weren't interested, never came to ask us how our meal was and took over 20 minutes for drinks to be bought to us.
I would not recommend this restaurant and most certainly won't be coming again.
What a nice restaurant, charming, pretty and tasteful.
A stunning building. Food good but not outstanding. Service efficient and pleasant. Tables rather close together which meant that one got nudged from time to time.
Staff was a bit disorganised and sort of rude, argued back to me. Did not feel welcome or properly looked after. Food was OK - large portion. The ambience was not pleasant as there was too much noise.
A lovely relaxed atmosphere, but with good food and attentive service. Just right to celebrate a 21st birthday with family.
Fabulous food in stunning surroundings with friendly, helpful staff :)
Lovely lunch at Gee's in June. Super food and great cocktails - an independent gem with very high standards.
Delicious food and excellent service from very attentive and helpful staff. They really took care of us as we had someone with very specific dietary requirements and were very accommodating.
This was a beautiful dining experience - gorgeous setting, discrete and relaxed yet efficient service, lovely food . Shared some rare mother and daughter time enjoyably
The setting is lovely and we have been back several times over the past few years.
The food was good but not outstanding. The dessert was overpriced for what it was. Saying that I would recommend this restaurant for it decor and overall good service and food.
One of my favourite places for lunch in Oxford. Great food with an exceptionally good value lunch menu and a nice choice of wines. The resturant is really pretty and the level of service excellent
A really lovely restaurant with a lovely atmosphere.
We had a lovely time celebrating my sons graduation. Food was lovely, simple but well presented.
Staff were all delightful.
The venue is amazing and the food gorgeous and very well presented. It's a perfect location for a special event or for a everyday dining. The lunch menu is great value for money!
Gees in top form as usual. Excellent tapas to share, superb Sunday Roast Beef, risotto and burgers, delicious deserts.
nice meal and nice atmosphere. but wine list dreadful and overpriced - paid 40 quid for a screw cap wine I probably could have got for £6 at a supermarket. that left me feeling rather cheated I must admit as otherwise we had a nice meal. I've made the same complaint several times at the Old Parsonage (same group) but nothing ever changes. if you want to go here I guess you just have to suck this one up.
I travel to Oxford from Australia every 6-18 months or so and never miss an opportunity to dine at Gee’s. It’s a beautiful space, with excellent food and typically a high standard of service. Check it out! Take friends or your partner - you’ll love it.
Fantastic food in a lovely setting. Good service and waiters were friendly and welcoming. Deserts were to die for!!
Great little place for brunch. Super lovely feel to the place, like eating in a big orangery. I went for Sunday brunch, and the food was good, but a little pricey for what it was. I would still have no problems recommending it however.
Great food and excellent service. Thank you very much
Wonderful setting which is why I booked. However very overpriced for wine and main course. Surprised I had to ask for mayo and ketchup when I was spending £17 for a burger. I’m sorry but I won’t return.
Delicious food and excellent service, in a unique setting.
Wine over priced in my opinion, other wise food good, service great and an enjoyable setting and atmosphere
Excellent trout dish and all food was delicious. Loved the conservatory. Very good value.
Great food, well looked after by the staff. A perfect choice just across road from hotel. Busy, friendly atmosphere in the conservatory space.
Complete lie about the special offer being available at 18:00 on open table, and the waitress was rude about it too! Needless to say, we went elsewhere.
I've had some great food in Gee's, but not on this occasion. Risotto was watery, almost soup like, with no creaminess and no flavour. Linguini with salmon was a little better. Nice sorbet for dessert. Ambience and service as good as ever, but Gee's need to do more than a couple of meat showpieces to justify the high prices.
Just a lovely evening. Nice service, delicious food, no pretensions, elegant.
Very crowded and noisy. Good service but such a poor menu choice for vegetarians. 3 of us were vegetarians and had very poor choice, no gees breakfast veggie alternative. Very shocked in this day and age! If they revamped the menu it would be a nice place to visit.
Great food, fast service, lovely atmosphere to eat in!
