Great restaurant with historic appeal. The champagne garden is beautiful.
This is the second time we've eaten here, and the food was amazing both times! Service was great the first visit, but not as great on the second. We sat at the bar both times. The cheese board was fantastic, and the hand cut fries are a total hit with me! We both had the burger and fries, which seems to be one of the best we've had in Nashville. Be sure and try the pink 75 cocktail, which is no longer on the menu, but delicious!
Very good! Elegant atmosphere, but overpriced. The Charcuterie isn't worth $22.
Enjoyed an utterly fantastic meal at Geist. They have the best brussel sprouts I have ever had, house bread that could pass for a dessert (although you have to pay for it) and Salmon that is out of this world. The place is very cool inside, conveniently located and there are even places to park! For free!
Our only complaint, and it's a big one: The staff in the restaurant was a total buzzkill. Bunch of smug millennial types walking around, frowning, like they are either ticked off at the world or entirely too cool for their customers. The service isn't bad, but it's cold, reluctant and edgy. One of the odder experiences I have had. For that reason I don't know that I'd go back. The food's great, but who wants to hang out in a place like that.
Service was slow, and intermittent, cheese board was just ok. I think they can do a lot better. Maybe it was an off night. It’s a beautiful building , has it all great bar, outside area , dining area. Just tighten up on service and menu.
A very nice dining place in a restored historic building. It’s a good area of town near ballpark and Germantown. Service was very good and food was delicious.
Just ok. I had brunch with two friends on a Sunday early afternoon. Service was exceptionally slow. It took almost 15min to get our drinks after ordering. The place was not very busy at all so no reason for that sort of wait. We did receive our cinnamon rolls almost immediately, but they were cold so had obviously been premade a bit earlier. The server never asked if we wanted another cocktail although we finished it prior to receiving entre. On a positive note, the burger and fries my friend ordered was great. Eggs benedict was decent but also cold. The venue is very cool so I will return again, but maybe just drinks at the bar.
This was our first time dining at Geist. We loved it and will definitely return.
The ambiance is great with brick walls and lots of candles. Multiple dining areas and large upholstered chairs make it feel cozy, comfortable and intimate.
We started our meal with a couple of signature cocktails. They were excellent. We had the octopus dish, shishito peppers and house rolls with butter to start. For dinner, we had the salad with buttermilk dressing and the salmon dish for our entree. Every dish was tasty and we loved each item we ordered.
The only slight negative of the evening was our server. He wasn’t enthusiastic at all and seemed like he didn’t want to be there in the least. Had to ask him whether there was a special that evening. Maybe he was having a bad day. We didn’t let his luke warm attitude affect our evening.
Definitely recommend Geist to others looking for a great date night venue.
Great atmosphere and super cool building but the portions and the quality of the food are not really worth the price. My friend said her $38 filet was just okay and my other friend’s said his duck dinner wasn’t very good. I would definitely come back for drinks at the bar but probably not for another meal.
Second best meal I’ve had in Nashville.
The space was beautiful and the food was delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive, but not overly intrusive. Literally the best biscuits I’ve ever had.
Ambiance & food were perfect for date night but unfortunately the service left alot to be desired. The service was pretty slow from the start & our server forgot a few things throughout the evening (he knew he was forgetting about us & did comp one of my drinks but no manager came by the table) as well as he came off very condescending & uninterested. We also totally would have enjoyed an after dinner drink we weren't offered so we finished dessert & had a night cap somewhere else.
The history of this building made me want to see this place. It's super cute and have these big comfy chairs at the 2 tops in the dining room. Very posh... The cocktail glasses are vintage so don't be expecting a huge drink. The carpaccio app was outstanding but the grilled octopus was just ok. The lentils were aldente and I'm not sure lentils should be undercooked.... My filet came out rare when ordered medium rare~ they fixed it quickly. The scallops were big and juicy. Lovely. The guy next to us was served raw chicken...The two desserts weren't impressive and our French press was weak. They comped our desserts but didn't notice they charged me for an extra glass of wine. To top it off, they swept around us and asked if we were finished with our coffee and took the cups but left the French press! It was underwhelming to say the least. I may go back in a few months but they a few kinks to work out...
Excellent vibe at Geist. All staff was welcoming and accommodating. Menu was good with sharing plates, full appetizers, and entrees. A nice selection covering beef, chicken, fish and pasta. Relatively modest wine list but good choices. Nice bar/restaurant combination for business and private entertaining.
Loved the ambience
Fun night out with girlfriends. We sat outside by the massive and amazingly warm fireplace. It was pretty chilly out, but we didn’t get cold at all. They also had blankets for everyone! The fire added to the quaint ambience, which is hard to find so close to downtown. I highly recommend the burrata appetizer! We will definitely be back!
Great quality food, beautiful interior.
Industrial chic, very warm and cozy.
Highly suggest for romantic dinner or fun place to hang as a group.
Good food and presentation. A little pricey but more than adequate servings.
Absolutely gorgeous and swanky little restaurant. Great date night spot. Nubby had shrimp and grits and loved it. I had the half chicken and it was incredible. We also shared the house bread which was a warm, fluffy sweet bread. Excellent dining experience from start to finish.
Fabulous evening with friends. The side dishes were my favorite. Will definitely go back and sit on the patio outside
Great time! Great service. Great food. Will be returning.
The most delicious brunch I have ever had! Definitely a must when in Nashville! I dreamt about the biscuits and gravy with the sorghum butter last night 😋
Geist was highly recommended to us by friends and it did not disappoint!
Great atmosphere, service and fantastic food!
The food and service was SO good! Super cute place, would definitely go back again. The music was a tiny bit loud, if I had any criticism.
My first visit to Geist and I will definitely return. Loved the decor, the service was excellent and the food was top-notch
Gracious, delicious, plus the added delight of a birthday acknowledgment.
Very cozy atmosphere. Wait staff was fantastic. Appetizers were fantastic, the sides were great, the carrot cake was wonderful, wine was excellent. My only slight criticism would be my filet, while cooked perfectly, lacked flavor.
We will certainly be going back. Loved it.
The setting was relaxed and inviting. And the noise level was a good balance; busy but not overpowering.
The food was perfect- the shrimp and grits was done just right, rich and flavorful. We even ordered dessert:)
The ambiance was great. Our appetizer, the burrada was amazing. However, I ordered shrimp and grits and the grits were great but the shrimp was flavorless and chewy. My husband got the chicken and it was just okay. We told our waiter we would drink for a hike and then order. I told him it was my birthday and we were celebrating. He kept asking us if we were ready. It was a bit bothersome. We both ordered 3 drinks and we were trying to enjoy them. I feel it a really special touch when a restaurant does something nice for a birthday such as send champagne or a dessert. Our waiter didn’t do anything. I would t go back.
Ambiance and service were great. Food was just ok. There are so many great restaurants now in Nashville, the bar is pretty high. For a $200 night out, there are plenty of other better places to go.
Great service, excellent food and beautiful location. Thank you!
30th birthday. Weather was perfect for sitting on the patio near the fire.
When you walk into Geist, you immediately are welcomed by the "feel of the place". The warm exposed brick, the music playing in the background, and the sincere greeting by the Maitre'd are all previews of what's to come. It was Oktoberfest in Germantown on a Sunday night, so you know the staff has had a big day by the time we arrived at 7:45. Our waitress was friendly, helpful, and engaged. Our party of 4 started with Bridlewood Cab, Shod Horse Chardonnay and an old Cuban. We all sighed satisfactorily as we toasted a successful week-end. My friends were in town from San Francisco, Paris and Lyon. They loved the place and I introduced the French to Shrimp and Grits, much to their delight! It was a great night and thank you Geist for making it so!
Geist had a great atmosphere, and the food was delicious. We came for a “birthday brunch” and definitely enjoyed ourselves! We will be back to try dinner soon.
When we arrived they clearly were not ready to start serving customers. The food was lukewarm and our sever was not attentive and for example did not bring hot milk even when asked twice.
The menu is overpriced for the quality of the food. I will not recommend Geist
Beautiful restaurant! My husband and I had a lovely dinner. The food was delicious and the service was nice, too. The noise level was pretty high, but we were still able to hear each other.
Great food and service. A true gem in Germantown.
It was my husband’s 30th Birthday! Our dinner was amazing and the ambiance was top notch. Our server was knowledgeable, sincere, and very kind. We enjoyed our night out and will definitely be back!
Excellent bartenders, fantastic food and a great vibe!
