Friday & Saturday: 12pm-2.30pm/6pm-10pm
The Sunday roast was not up to the standard of the last time I visited for Sunday lunch, however every other meal I have had has been very good, so we were a little disappointed this time.
Superb food. Surprised by the excellent quality of the food at this local pub. Great chef.
Disappointed as sourdough bread burnt but pit on plate with burnt side down so not seen until eat also my baked Alaska had not been baked had been blowtorched which meant the ice creams was solid and meringue cold. Also disappointed snacks menu not changed for ages.
Just a tag expensive but the food was very good and the staff were very efficient and friendly. There was just the right time between courses and there was a nice atmosphere
Enjoyable lunch at a good pub with friendly staff and good food and drink
A but disappointed that chicken was not on the menu for Sunday lunch
Great Sunday Lunch, staff very friendly & food was creative with lots of flavour. Clean restaurant and accommodating for children. A lovely Sunday afternoon spent with my family.
Service and food were amazing at our busy to the George 1V. Will visit again
Excellent Sunday lunch -good service and lovely pub -ate outside as weather was lovely
Our second visit, lovely food and excellent service.
Can’t fault this venue. Amazing food and service. This was my 3 visit and every time a gem
We had a really lovely family Sunday lunch. It was so good that we are going to make it a regular once a month get together over Sunday lunch.
Great food, lovely atmosphere and ample room to park the pram with our little one inside! Will definitely be returning soon.
Lovely food, nice pub. Would prefer to tip without having service charge added to bill. Would go back again.
Very friendly, quiet on this Thursday. Menu could have more choice for vegetarians. No gluten free indicators on the menu.
Food was good and will return. This was our fourth visit.
The venison croquette waa delicious and the roast lamb and accompaniements exceptional. Great value at £19.50 for two courses.
Another great lunch in this restaurant. Staff very efficient and friendly great food and presentation highly recommend.
Situated in lovely surroundings
Lunch with friends, good food, staff very friendly, really enjoyed the afternoon.
Best Sunday Lunch for a long time! We hadn't been to the George IV for over twenty years and its changed so much for the better. Modern stripped back decoration, but still retains its old building feel. Food was abosultely perfect, well cooked, good selection of side vegetables, well pressented. Service waa attentive without being over the top. My only comment is thought needs to be provided to the background music. Bearing in mind it was Sunday Lunch, modern upbeat sounds did not match the mood or the demographic eating at the time. To the extent that my elderly Father in Law had to remove his hearing aid as the music was really interfering with his enjoyment. Otherwise great occasion and will certainly return.
3 out of 4 of us had a very good meal, but one had venison, and it was cold and only partly cooked. We don't mind rare, but not raw.
The food is consistently excellent and I love that the menu shows imagination with our favoured, popular choices. It’s a relaxed environment and the staff are polite, friendly and professional. I regularly recommend George IV to friends.
We had a friend over from the USA and the place was recommended to us. We were not disappointed, the food was fantastic, taste, presentation and service. We will definitely return.
Two glasses of Pinot Grigio £20 with service
Food was ok but not exceptional
My wife had the fish and chips which she really enjoyed. I ordered the lamb canon and whilst the meat was very good, one miniature potato croquet was not enough to accompany the dish. More vegetables should have been provided. A plainer dessert, such as a crumble, would have been appreciated.
When we have dined for Sunday lunch the vegetables provided have been much more acceptable.
Disappointing with the food and drink. Aperol spritz flat, strawberries in pimms were black and no fizz. chunky fries undercooked still raw in some places. Whilst waitore was very pleasant I feel we just arrived at end of a long busy day. This was my 3 rd trip in 10 days and certainly not as good S my previous visits I hope I was just unlucky as it was becoming a local favourite of mine.
enjoyed our meal-tasty food and fell full after
did manage a dessert even so!
Food was very well presented and flavours of our meals were good
We always enjoy lunch or dinner here. Food on Saturday was delicious except for a few niggles. Duck fat potatoes were over cooked and dry. The skinniest carrots I have ever seen. Starters of Cornish crab and pigeon delicious.Duck very good. Yummy!
Had a lovely meal with lovely service. What more can you ask?
Lovely food and atmosphere, we'll definitely go again. A hidden gem.
Keeps on improving . Imaginative menu for both carnivores and the other lot . Well cooked and well presented as usual .
We shared 4 small plates between the 3 of us and enjoyed all of them. As ever the Whitebait was delicious as were the crayfish bits. The hoummus with the Halloumi chips and the courgettes were delicious and we completed our meal by sharing the chocolate mousse. I shall return, hopefully soon!
Enjoyed unusual choice of light lunch which is our preference when my friends and I meet for lunch. All enjoyed the delicious food.
Lovely pub in a pretty village. Excellent food and good service
My girlfriends and I met up for a birthday get together. Service was very good as was the food, although I did think my desert portion was a little small. Would definitely recommend.
My friend and I went for a light lunch at the George IV. we had 3 sharing plates that were delicious. The whitebait was hot and soft with a crispy coating; the grilled slim wedges of courgette with grated Tunbridge (I think) cheese was lovely and the crayfish on little gem lettuce leaves and chips was excellent - we chose not to have this served on sourdough as neither of us are bread eaters. The Pub was fairly quiet as it was midday on Tuesday so great for a catch-up session!
One of my favourite pubs serving great food and beer. Good place for date night, quiet pint, birthdays and Sunday lunch. It’s also in a lovely spot.
Lovely pub. The food was fantastic, we had roast beef which was very good. We also had the glazed aubergine which was amazing. Great service too. Thank you.
Overall a very good experience,I would dine here again,if I was going to be picky... the main meal arrived but waited a good 5 minutes for accompanying dishes e.g. chips, veg. Great helpful staff, polite and attentive. great atmosphere, lovely location
