Friday & Saturday: 12pm-2.30pm/6pm-10pm
Two glasses of Pinot Grigio £20 with service
Food was ok but not exceptional
My wife had the fish and chips which she really enjoyed. I ordered the lamb canon and whilst the meat was very good, one miniature potato croquet was not enough to accompany the dish. More vegetables should have been provided. A plainer dessert, such as a crumble, would have been appreciated.
When we have dined for Sunday lunch the vegetables provided have been much more acceptable.
Disappointing with the food and drink. Aperol spritz flat, strawberries in pimms were black and no fizz. chunky fries undercooked still raw in some places. Whilst waitore was very pleasant I feel we just arrived at end of a long busy day. This was my 3 rd trip in 10 days and certainly not as good S my previous visits I hope I was just unlucky as it was becoming a local favourite of mine.
enjoyed our meal-tasty food and fell full after
did manage a dessert even so!
Food was very well presented and flavours of our meals were good
We always enjoy lunch or dinner here. Food on Saturday was delicious except for a few niggles. Duck fat potatoes were over cooked and dry. The skinniest carrots I have ever seen. Starters of Cornish crab and pigeon delicious.Duck very good. Yummy!
Had a lovely meal with lovely service. What more can you ask?
Lovely food and atmosphere, we'll definitely go again. A hidden gem.
Keeps on improving . Imaginative menu for both carnivores and the other lot . Well cooked and well presented as usual .
We shared 4 small plates between the 3 of us and enjoyed all of them. As ever the Whitebait was delicious as were the crayfish bits. The hoummus with the Halloumi chips and the courgettes were delicious and we completed our meal by sharing the chocolate mousse. I shall return, hopefully soon!
Enjoyed unusual choice of light lunch which is our preference when my friends and I meet for lunch. All enjoyed the delicious food.
Lovely pub in a pretty village. Excellent food and good service
My girlfriends and I met up for a birthday get together. Service was very good as was the food, although I did think my desert portion was a little small. Would definitely recommend.
My friend and I went for a light lunch at the George IV. we had 3 sharing plates that were delicious. The whitebait was hot and soft with a crispy coating; the grilled slim wedges of courgette with grated Tunbridge (I think) cheese was lovely and the crayfish on little gem lettuce leaves and chips was excellent - we chose not to have this served on sourdough as neither of us are bread eaters. The Pub was fairly quiet as it was midday on Tuesday so great for a catch-up session!
One of my favourite pubs serving great food and beer. Good place for date night, quiet pint, birthdays and Sunday lunch. It’s also in a lovely spot.
Lovely pub. The food was fantastic, we had roast beef which was very good. We also had the glazed aubergine which was amazing. Great service too. Thank you.
Overall a very good experience,I would dine here again,if I was going to be picky... the main meal arrived but waited a good 5 minutes for accompanying dishes e.g. chips, veg. Great helpful staff, polite and attentive. great atmosphere, lovely location
Always great food and service with a cosy atmosphere
Very tasty food at the George IV on Father’s Day. Enjoyed the good choices, the fine wine and the ambiance. Thank you.
Easily the best restaurant in Hertford area . Outstrips better publicised pubs ( you know who you are )
Ate here for first time in a year or so and thought food was greatly improved and delicious..halloumi fries, wings and slaw, fish and chips , belly pork and choc mousse all beautifully presented and tasty. Pretty good service from enthusiastic young staff
Lovely pub, friendly staff and the food is delicious. Very relaxed atmosphere. It’s on the road so not safe to eat outside with kids, we sat inside with our little one and had a lovely time.
Everything wonderful my white chocolate mouse was divine
I took my elderly mother for Sunday lunch to the George and was very impressed with practically all aspects. Th food and service were excellent and we enjoyed the lunch ver much. The only small issue was that where we sat was right on top of another table, they were basically far to close together, that though didn't spoil the lunch.
Excellent food and lovely ambience with friendly and helpful staff.
Good food pleasantly served. Beer well kept. Seating outside and in at this nice pub in the quiet village of Great Amwell.
Excellent food and service again 😊
Good food and service. Only small gripe is why the tiny starters have to be served in such deep bowls. It is difficult cutting the food up with a knife and fork if the food is in a bowl. Bowls are for spoons !
Would highly recommend this pub for it delicious food and tranquil location.
Lovely food and outstanding service. Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back. Personally I would sooner leave a tip than see service charge on menu.
This was our third visit and everything was great , service ,food especially the soufflé outstanding .
Great choices of Gin and a variety of tonics to match
Very good Sunday Lunch with a best ever Crumble . Will definitely visit again soon.
Lovely local pub, set in a beautiful place! Highly recommend for a special occasion!
Service is spot-on and food amazing, although the portions could be a bit bigger.
Great food and service located in a beautiful part of Hertfordshire. Highly recommend a walk along the canal and finishing off with a late lunch at George IV
Very hot day. Was very busy outside. We waited 55 minutes between starter and main.
Very pleasant place. Staff very attentive. Food good. Nice outside dining.
Delicious food as usual. Quality well cooked and well presented.
Great evening warm welcoming resturant.
Great menu covered all bases.
Good atmosphere as soon as we arrived were welcomed and shown to our table. Good selection of beers and a gin menu -unfortunately I was the dedicated driver - so maybe next time! Beautifully presented food expertly cooked. Will definitely book again and probably sooner than later.
