Consistently good food and service
This was my first time at this restaurant. I ordered the prime beef burger medium rare. When it arrived it was well done and the lettuce was limp. I understand that this can happen and I sent it back. I new one was made and it arrived med rare but for some reason this meat was dry and there were no natural juices that you normally have from a burger. I figured it was dry the first time since it was overcooked. The fries were great but this was one of the worst burgers I have had. My wife like the scallops.
We were repeat customers at George White. The decor is attractive and low-key; it’s very quiet inside despite the long bar that dominates the front half of the restaurant. We were there on $6 margarita night — and despite the low price, the bartender did not skimp on the tequila! The menu is unique — plenty of classic American selections on one side, and nearly as many Mexican/Spanish dishes on the other. The paella mixta is one of my favorites — loaded with chicken and mussels, with just enough rice. My one quibble was that the service was rather slow, despite it not being busy. We had a large group of 11 people, and everyone was hungry. But it took a full half hour between the time we were served our drinks and the time our waiter re-emerged to take our dinner orders. By that time everyone had had enough of the warm tortilla chips and salsa on the table, and was getting a bit restless.
Always our go to place , has something for everyone
Good service and staff took care of birthday dessert and candle per my instructions left directly on Open Table. Brussel sprouts very flavorful. Veggie Burger tasty and fries crisp.
Mac and Cheese a big hit.
The menu has changed. There are many of the old reliables and a lot of new ones. There is a whole section of Tex mex. we had the filet mignon and chicken paillard. Both very good. The brownies sundae was yummy.
Just ok. Don’t think menu will survive.
New added Mexican menu. It was very good. Impressed. The neighborhood is in need of non-Italian options. Thank you!
All was great; however, very loud!
Great food and great service, and will definitely be back again soon!
Although I miss the cotton candy, the new menu is terrific. The fried avocado and nachos were great. And the salmon special and off the menu were wonderful. I was very happy when I left and can't wait to go back.
We hadn’t been here in a while so we were confused at first u til we realized it must be under new management. The menu was not what we had tenet it to be. It’s not tailgating it was bad it just wasn’t what we were expecting. It was Christmas Eve dinner and we booked based on previous visits . It was very quiet . For a while we were the only table .
Food is outstanding. It has gotten better since the takeover. Ambience is so cozy and comfortable. We absolutely loved everything we got :-)Grilled octopus was outstanding, fried avocado was amazing,Seafood paella was divine
Had been there 2 weeks ago. Brought new friends for dinner before a show. Great food again. Tried the Mexican side of the menu. Had the Chimichanga. Fantastic. Asked for some hot cherry peppers and the request was met with a smile and a “No problem”. Service was great. Friendly, responsive without being overbearing. The others had the quesadillas, chicken paillard and a grilled chicken salad. All good. Great sangrias and I had a top notch Tito’s martini. Can’t wait to cone back.
Very poor service! Had to keep getting up to find the server. Food was good but our filet mignon and burgers were overcooked.. very expensive dinner..
George White has become our new “go to” spot. Since the new owners took over the food has been expertly prepared and delicious. There is something for everyone on the menu. They are extremely accommodating with substitutions and special requests. Great bar area with a nice selection of cocktails We have had many enjoyable meals at George White and look forward to returning often.
Nice change from George Martin.
Updated menu. One of us had chicken fajitas, loads of chicken, great flavor. The Burger was amazing, cooked perfectly and with the short rib on top, flavor was to die for.
Cozy warm atmosphere and great service. Mixed opinions on food- the salmon served as add-on to salad was very bland with no sear on the outside, just soft and blah. Fried calamari app seemed straight out of a frozen bag-- soggy with an oddly uniform batter. Scallops w risotto entree excellent, and very good steak sandwich.
Food was delicious and the service was great. Staff was very accommodating to have us eat within the hour and make our show on time.
Tried the shredded wedge salad and it was excellent. Had a cheeseburger that was cooked exactly as requested and was also very good. Sauteed broccoli instead of fried was yummy. Will definitely return..for more another time.
Great service food and staff
The food I had was phenomenal. The waiter was so patient and very nice.
Restaurant week food choices were very nice. The mussels were excellent!!
The waiter was very kind to inform us that the tip had already been added to our bill for the large party as he saw that we had not taken notice of that when figuring the tip!!
Love the ambiance of this place. First time here during restaurant week and it was great!
Went Restaurant Week on Monday
All three parties loved the food
Would definitely recommend on week night
Everything was good but didn’t get the table I requested.
Sooooo much better than my prior visit when it was George Martin.
Very nice. My husband spilled his wine and the staff gave us a new table and more wine
Restaurant claims we weren’t there but we were and open table is looking into it. Still haven’t gotten 100 points. Spent $92 there plus tip.
Not really sure what happened to this restaurant. Used to be much better when it was Grillefire and then George Martin. Ate there for the first time since they changed their menu. The front of the menu is American and the back is now Mexican. The American selections became more limited, taking off some favorites like ahi tuna. The Mexican side is just strange. We ordered nachos which came with liquid cheese wiz on them. At least use real cheese. They should concentrate on just one food type and get that right. Service was slow and inattentive. We left over our meals and just wanted to leave. Poor dining experience.
George White was OK. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Salsa was very good; cocktails were ok. 3 people ordered the GW Signature burger medium rare and all 3 were well done. They were good, but not good enough to go back again Decent value and easy parking on site. Not sure that we will go back. Could be improved overall; a decent place but not special.
Great neighborhood spot, big surprise that also has great Mexican food and delicious Sangria!
Great neighborhood place we’ve gone many times and never disappointed
The food is top quality and the staff friendly and attentive. The owner is visible and friendly too! The cleanliness is a ten! I love this place! Will return again soon!!!
They need to bring back the popovers. The nacho chips are not doing it. Very ordinary.
Very nice restaurant. I do think its a little expensive. But will go back.
We were disappointed by the changes in the menu. Our dinners were ok and we were just confused by the Mexican side of the menu. We miss the popovers and the seared tuna appetizer.
Food mediocre. Very empty for Friday night. Server was not attentive or friendly especially since the place was empty.
George White dishes are all made with the freshest ingredients. You can tell by the amazing flavors that each food item has. My go to dish is the slow roasted short ribs which is the best short ribs I have ever tasted. I think about this entree all the time. The sauce they use is so good. You have to try it. You will not be disappointed.
