Contemporary well cooked & presented food at reasonable prices
BAD. Avoid i would say.
Vegan options was the tiniest salad (leaves and some squash with a few pumpkin seeds) for 10 Euro!! Had to get a sandwich on my way back. Coffee was good.
Delicious food - great service! We'll be back very soon!
Good location with very pleasant staff. Food very disappointing.
I was there with my friends on Saturday, form 2.30 p.m for a brunch. The place is really nice and although big, we felt very comfortable, and I find it even cozy, very bright, with big windows. The service is good, family friendly, staff professional, and we could chill out there for a while after having our brunch, nice music and not noisy at all.
Good food, interesting menu, lovely room & nice design. So makes for a good format. Portion sizes are small.
The food is interesting, and really tasty. Service was really fast at lunch time.
Portions can be a little small if you have a big appetite, but that is a personal thing
Really good friendly service. Great house sparkling water provided when we sat. The 3 of us ordered crab and eggs, minestrone soup, duck bao buns and also a signature fried chicken and pancakes to share. It was all really good food. We had iced coffees and the dessert of coffee ice cream and the apple fritters. I felt we tried a lot of the menu and none of it disappoints. A great spot to linger over a long lunch as there was no one rushing us out. I’ll defo go back.
The food was good particularly the feather blade beef.
The starters were tasty but could have been bigger in size.
Service was very attentive and still low key.
We chose the rose which was a good foil for the food.
The venue itself was very nice and welcoming.
The furniture was different in a good way but very comfortable.
Delice dinner, excellent service, will be back! Thank you very much.
Quite frankly the best lamb burger I’ve ever had. Gertrude is just a lovely spot, very of the moment, but with a heart to it. Just lush!
We really enjoyed our dinner here on Friday evening - the food was excellent and the service friendly and attentive - we'll be back.
Portionsize was ok. Very good coffee and dessert. Service seemed lacking coordination. Multiple times asked if ready to order by different waiters. Followup at end of meal when gettign the bill what we actually had to eat. Food was good but nothing amazing to rave about. Location and decoration very nice. Good for coffee and business meeting. Wouldn´t be rushing back for brunch/meal.
Really enjoyed our dinner at Gertrude. The food was excellent, great flavored, cooked to perfection. Great ambiance too. Service probably needs to be polished a little but staff were extremely friendly. Would definitely go back.
I had the tonkatsu sandwich. It was amazing. Very juicy piece of meat. Will efo go again.
Starter was somewhat quirky, beetroot cured salmon, tasty, but a slight disconnect as you are half expeting tuna because of the colour, wih excellent tsatziki on a wholemeal craker. Most enjoyable. The minestrone main course soup was really tasty, and you could savour the ingredients. My companion had the chicken pancake stack, with a side of fried egg and brocolli, all of which were prounced as excellent. Heartily recommend for lunch (is only open late one evening) and I will definitely return.
This has been my third visit to Gertrude's and each time I have not been disappointed. Both the food and the service have been brilliant. I've tried their barley bowl, Minestrone soup and Crab and Eggs. All the ingredients are top notch. I also love the decor and open space. It's an enjoyable atmosphere. I've only been during lunch times and look forward to trying it in the evening with some wine! Thanks guys.
Incredible staff, food, drinks and ambience
Really tasty food, friendly staff, cool interior. Loved the fact the menu is unique for Dublin and doesnt have all the usual brunch faves. Coffee was nice and strong and good cheap wine menu. Would recommend.
Funky place and good food. The service was great as well. I would go back.
Excellent fresh food , friendly service and I would definitely come back
Lovely spot for brunch on a Sunday. I had the fried chicken and buttermilk pancakes and it was delicious and my partner had the fry, which he very much enjoyed. The place was quieter when we first arrived at 10.45 but then got busier, but staff were very friendly and attentive and made our experience very enjoyable. Decor is lovely too and we would definitely go back here. Recommend it! :)
I had been to Gertrude for lunch and was keen to return with my daughter for dinner. The place was quieter than I would have expected for a Saturday night but overall our experience was very good. We both had the mixed selection starter which was really delicious with some real taste surprises, and we also had the slow cooked featherblade steak which was melt in the mouth and full of flavour. We had two desserts - a delicious strawberry, mascarpone and roasted white chocolate, and a brownie iceberger which was the only disappointment of the evening. The biscuit was hard & chewy, way too thick and way too sweet. A much thinner biscuit 'wafer' would have worked much better. Last time our waiter had been very knowledgeable and helpful with the wine selection, this time much less so. We regretted we had not met the waitress who brought dessert at the start of our meal. Overall a lovely evening and one I'll happily repeat
Really interesting and tasty food. Lovely staff and atmosphere. Will definitely be back!
Great foods and services - will defo go back again!
nice vibe in this restaurant, service excellent and good to see in the neighbourhood
Lovely service and excellent food! Will happily return ☺️
very nice, bright restaurant, good service, interesting menu, the only negative was the expensive coffee
I really liked the food at Gertrude and the staff were very good. The only thing I didn't like was the wine selection. Not having a bottle of red wine on the menu for this type of restaurant for less than €32 makes no sense. I know there is options by the carafe, but there should be at least some options for a bottle in the mid to late twenties range. The surroundings at Gertude aren't fine dining, its canteen style, so the wine prices shouldn't be either. If I can get a bottle of wine for €30 or under at Etto or Delahunt for example, which have I would say a similar standard of food, but much more comfortable surroundings, I'd expect to get that here too.
Very enjoyable meal. A bit disappointed that the duck rolls on the menu weren't available as of our party wanted them.
Gertrude is a classy, sassy place. It’s everything that a city restaurant should be: great ingredients, delicious food, nice ambiance at affordable prices. Highly recommended!
Thoroughly enjoyable night in a great space, serving pretty delicious food.
The menu was intriguing and we weren't disappointed - the food was really tasty, well presented.
Disappointed with lack of coeliac friendly options. Most places can swap out bread for g.f. bread. Coeliac's really appreciate this as otherwise options can be extremely limited.
Otherwise, really enjoyed it
I really liked the chilled out vibe here. The food is creative and interesting and the space is bright and airy. The staff are lovely.
Really Lovely Variety. Tonkatsu Sandwich was a winner 👌
Lovely food, nicely presented. Coffee was 3fe and lovely. Nice, interesting selection of dishes.
Gertrude is a nice coffee/restaurant in Dublin City center. Accessible, well organised and with a good food selection. I appreciated different combinations of ingredients, the lamb burger was exceptional and the desserts were interesting. We will go back..
We had the three small plates to share and chicken with pancakes and duck bao bun for main.
None of the small plates were good. The cheese ball was cold in the centre, the salmon was over cured, over salted, cut way too thick and flavourless, the dumpling tasted of artificial smoke and was way too salty.
The waitress asked if we enjoyed the starter. We said no so she just took the plates away with only one of each item eaten.
The main were in the same vein. Over salted, artificial tasting sauces. All very mediocre. We did not finish the mains either.
Service was poor and slow.
Needless to say, we won't be returning.
