Steak and Chips
225g rump steak, triple cooked chips
Cheesy Yorkshire Pudding
Deano's bacon jam
We received a warm welcome into the bar where had a drink before dinner. Very knowledgeable with their gins and what tonic works with it.
The food was out of this world. Steaks cooked to perfection. Well seasoned. The sides were delicious, the bacon jam is a must try. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Would 10/10 recommend.
Steak was cooked perfectly, lovely service and location.
The building. Dining room , location & views are stunning.
Service was very good. However food was mediocre & bland. One had the set menu, chewy cold Yorkshire pudding for starter, fish ok but small. Other diner had steak from a la carte menu and has had better quality cooked steak cheaper from a high st chain.
Bad steak. Medium rare was medium. The meat was quite tough.
Service was slow. Friendly. But slow.
The service from the moment we arrived was unparalelled and the food and drink was on par to match. We came for my partners birthday and safe to say we didnt leave disappointed. The best steaks we have ever had as enthusiastic foodies. We will definitely be attending again soon!
Great place to eat or drink everything was great
The waiters the barman all very good
The food was delicious and a very good service
The toilet was very clean too
Fantastic venue staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.
Food and service was excellent.
Will definitely be returning
Our server Florentina was absolutely amazing, brilliant service and got us everything we needed. If looking for somewhere that’s great value for money i recommend this place. Will definitely be back again. Will be recommending to friends and family.
Really lovely place with very happy and welcoming staff. The steaks are amazing, on the expensive side but to be expected in London.
The staff were really attentive and helpful. I would prefer not to have to order via menu on app but the waitress was helpful in talking us through the options
Lovely restaurant, amazing food , fantastic friendly staff who went far and beyond to assist .
On Gilllray's website they advertise a Taste of gillray set menu. There is no mention of when this is NOT available and we did enjoy it last October on a Saturday. In fact my confirmation email included menus and I pressed the button and the first thing to come up was the set menu. So no reason whatsoever to think this would not happen. When we asked for the set menu the waiter went away and came back a few minutes later to say they do not do it on a Saturday. Please can the website be amended.
The steaks are overpriced considering the standard of service.
Given that this is a "steak" restaurant the meat was not cooked to our requirements and both the medium and medium rare steaks were both served well done!!
Besides this the Yorkshire pudding with bacon jam was amazing!!
Lovely atmosphere, delicious food and staff couldn’t do enough.
Poorly cooked steak from a supposed high class steak restaurant. Ordered 2x medium rare fillet (costing £36 each) took about 30 minutes to be delivered to table and was a definite ‘well done‘ chewy bit of meat. Chips were poor and burnt.
Complained to staff and apologies given by pleasant Manager who took price of 1 x drinks and chips off of bill...
Would not recommend if looking for a perfect steak dinner. Over priced, poorly cooked and poorly presented food.
Would have been nicer if the windows had been cleaned. Lovely view of the River Thames which was hard to see though the grime. Great friendly service. Food was nice but expensive.
Great Father’s Day menu (offer) although steak a little fatty but that’s the cut, I’m normally a fillet lady. excellent servers, lovely and friendly, very professional. The cauliflower cheese and red cabbage were delicious.
Setting is stunning with views across the Thames and wood panelling everywhere
Service was impeccable
And last but not least the food was amazing
Great welcome, table service and food. Checked on food but otherwise left us to our privacy and to look onto the Thames.
at every step it fell just short:
we ordered a bottle of water, we got a bottle of water, never took the top off or poured it.
we ordered a green salad we got a mixed salad - sent back because it contained things we cannot eat.
two steaks, both overcooked.
desert ordered with ice cream not cream, we got neither, it was warm rather than hot
team was delivered as a pot of hot water and a tea-bag put on the table, still in the plastic wrapper
just a shame.
We were looked after by felicia who gave us excellent service. The food was amazing and a great place to go
Would highly recommend, great service, food and views.
Very Nice Food, Amazing Service & Beautiful Views.
It’s a steak house and yet they couldn’t get our steaks right. I ordered medium rare and it was as basically brown and my friend ordered medium and hers was well done. They even had little sticks in that said what they were meant to be. I complained and they had offered to do them again but that would have taken ages and my friend an i (who hadn’t seen each other for a year) and didn’t have time to wait for new ones… and like I say… it’s a steakhouse so how did they get it so wrong?
We had ordered from the offer menu but I hate when that apparently means you should have a worse experience.
After a little more back and forth, eventually they took a glass of wine each off of the bill but it wasn’t really the point.
It was boiling in the heat and the windows were filthy so you couldn’t appreciate the beautiful views.
I know the pandemic has hit businesses hard but I think their are some basic things that they need to sort out so that people come and would recommend to others.
As it stands I won’t be recommending or going again.
Waiting staff were nice but it’s a shame about the experience and the fact it was for a special occasion.
Beautiful meal and atmosphere. Nicest steak I've probably ever had.
Would definitely recommend.
Poor service, food was very average.Bar area had a nice vibe but poor service, lots of young children and families there so very noisy.
The food was delicious but the service should be improved. I booked for £15steak deal for 2 people but I wanted to get 1 steak and 1 set menu (which is cost more). The staff didn’t let us do that as we didn’t book for set menu, we had to get 2 steaks. How do I suppose to book? 2 booking? 1 for each?
Came here for our anniversary as we were staying in the hotel. We had a great time however it was very pricey - £29 for one steak and that price didn’t include chips or sauce. It was amazing quality though and would recommend. If we were to go again we would share the chips and a sauce as we both couldn’t finish our chips. We waited ages for our bill at the end which was quite frustrating but overall we had a lush date!
Extremely good; really enjoyed the meal.
Very nice experience. My daughter had steak and the original piece was tough - they changed it for a very nice piece - no quibbles whatsoever. Very good service and Covid regs followed meticulously.
Had a delicious early family dinner at Gillray's. The service was outstanding and the staff were especially helpful supporting us with allergies. Excellent value for money on the London Restaurant Month menu.
£40 for two G&Ts. Then seated between two noisy pRtirs on a date when the other end of the restaurant was empty. Asked twice for a glass of wine but never received. Staff were pleasant but looked overrun.
The staff made me very welcome, the setting is impressive, great views of the Thames, delicious food and excellent value for money. COVID protocols were strong. Sad to see the restaurant so quiet whilst London is in Tier 2.
service was amazing!
the bartender is really friendly and nice and will make you a rocking drink (i had a mocktail)
Booked for my husband, daughter and her boyfriend and father.. all said the building and decor was beautiful and fabulous views over the Thames all enjoyed the meals also .. definitely be returning again
Both our steaks were ridiculously tough as mine was overcooked so I sent it back. The second steals was a lot better but still nowhere near the quality of other steakhouses in London. The staff did their best to recover the situation abs were very apologetic. However they did not offer any sauces wiry the steak which is a first.
Not the best, very bare table setting. I also tried to order a cider and the waiter basically tried to offer me beer as if it was the same thing.
Lovely setting with attentive staff. The food was lovely but a little slow being brought out & arrived at the table luke warm. Alcohol is a bit pricy bit that's to be expected in a hotel setting in central London. Overall a nice experience that I would repeat.
We chose the restaurant because it overlooked the Thames. Not from our table!
There were dirty plates stacked up on the bar. Tables weren’t cleared.
No new cutlery given for each course.
Tired old decor.
No atmosphere. Really poor food- but like a Harvester on an off day.
The staff were lovely and saved the night from being a disaster.
Food was cold and burnt. Short staffed. One chef and poor service. Returned 90% of the food we were served. Shocked that we were handed a bill. Never again!
