We booked a table....the restaurant closed down!
...but I still recieved a reminder about my booking...and now asked to review restaurant??!! Say what!!???
When we arrived at the restaurant it was closed . We had booked this restaurant as my husband was running the Norwich 10k and we knew it would be very busy on that day. We had no notification that it was closed from yourselves. Very disappointed.
Giraffe Norwich closed down but yet you still took our booking, causing major inconvenience for our party. Also, you are still sending us notifications.
Perhaps, you could of told me that tables were no longer being booked at this restaurant and only half a menu hence why we walked out and went else where. Absolutely disgusting
Whilst the staff there are lovely as always it seemed clear that the chain is struggling as quite a lot of items on the menu were banked off with marker pen which gives a poor impression to the customer. The food was good, although the burgers we had were in very red coloured buns with no explanation - tasted ok though. Deserts lovely.
This was my first visit and wasn’t allowed to use a free drink voucher for signing up to newsletter, food was stone cold and only took 5 mins to arrive to table from ordering so clearly already cooked and warmed thru but not very well!
Was able to sit outside which was lovely, relaxed atmosphere and great food 😀👍🏻
Service was quick, discount was good, my katsu curry was good but the "dressed" salad with the steak was a bit poor as it was literally just spinach.
Pretty awful, took 50 mins to get our food despite us saying we had tickets to a show. We ended up taking dessert away with us. We asked move inside when a table became available and were left in the cold until we went inside ourselves to discover four empty tables where we could have gone. The food was meagre and mediocre and the vegetables mushy and overcooked. Very disappointing.
we love giraffe and we are so cross you’re closing it. We’ve been goi g every week since you opened. The staff are amazing especially Simona. Why do you have to shut this one. It’s the one place our son like to out to eat. Now we’re scuppered
Great quick friendly service . Good food . Clean . thanks
Staff were very friendly, and helpful. We didn't have to wait long for our drinks then our meals. They were hot, and were well presented and very delicious. Thank you to everyone x
Had a nice time :) drinks and food was prompt and its value for money. I would go again
Amazing! Tasty food and conciderate staff.
Really good value especially with the two for one deal plus the drinks were on offer too.The service was great staff were friendly and helpful. We were off to the theatre so the location is perfect would recommend it and certainly come here again.
Good food and service shame the restaurant is going to close in June as it’s one of our favourites thank you
Super friendly and helpful service, starters were lovely, chicken was slightly dry and overcooked sadly Didn't have time for a dessert as we were off to the theatre but looking forward to trying one next time. X
We hadn't visited Giraffe Norwich for a while with limited family meals out so decided we would treat ourselves. It had always been a favourite in previous visits but we were extremely disappointed this time. The layout meant the tables were all close together so we could hear conversations of those around us including bad language in front of a 4 and 7 year old. The service was very good and our orders were taken quickly and food arrived quickly. Although there was plenty of good main options for children the sides were limited to swap unless you bought extra side orders on top.
The adult main burger meals were disappointing, they arrived on a huge plate but the burgers themselves were small as were the portions of chips and they looked a bit lost on the plate. It didn't feel very good value for money when it was costing £12.50 and almost needed something else to go with it such as a bit of salad.
Overall we felt it was too expensive for what it was and probably wouldn't return again.
Had previously eaten here without issues. One Sunday, experienced a host of problems including slow service, dirty water glasses, incorrect orders which we were almost charged twice for, poor quality of food, and brunch was not being served (contrary to the website).
Sent food back as over cooked steak and poor salad. Chefs using fingers and no gloves. Bill incorrect and customer service poor.
Food & service excellent. Only issue was it was a little cold to the extent my mother in law kept her coat on!
Went for my Birthday before going to the theatre. Very good friendly service. Meal good too
Great service from the staff, they engaged well with the kids
My burger was so cold the cheese had turned to a solid lump.
£2.25 for some cold pumps of broccoli is robbery!
It would have been better if they had normal burger buns in and not the beetroot ones.
Good value as had 2 for 1. Other than that everything else wasn't great. Steak was burnt and the second replacement undercooked. Chips were cold. Naan bread forgotten to be served with curry and had to ask for more teriyaki sauce as there was hardly any with the salmon. Service was good to start with but then waited ages until someone came to take our food order, then had to wait longer for food. I feel these were the result of hardly any staff, there were maybe 2 or 3 people.
Love this place. Good value for money. Nice atmosphere.
They appeared very short staffed at the time but they managed to give such good customer service not sure how they managed. Very impressed they made the experience extra special
very good restaurant, with good choice for vegetarians
We love Giraffe for an easy meal out and for meeting friends.
My only criticism really would be is that the food comes out too quickly! There just is no time to breath between courses! Last time we went, main courses were arriving before the starters had been cleared!
Otherwise I love the whole thing and everyone is always so friendly 😊
staff were lovely but the menu choice limited if you're not a meat eater, so we opted for the 5 starter choice, prawn dish very disappointing, vegtable dumplings were quite nice, but all dishes had some sort of bread which was just cold sliced toasted bagette and the cheese and garlic flat bread, cold and not tasty, we left more than we ate. Pink Gin 2 for 1 cocktails, lovely.
The food was off
Service was disinterested and slow
The food was lovely but the atmosphere not so much. It was so busy and noisy. The tables were crammed so close together we felt that we couldn't relax. Our original table was placed next the bar, not even a metre away. There were people lined up at the bar, the lady who seated us moved the table as much as she could but one of our party couldn't sit so we requested to move. Whilst we weren't next to the bar it was still obvious that as many tables had been fitted in as possible. I would only return at quieter times. Staff were lovely and attentive
Eating out is becoming just too expensive for pretty ordinary food, waitress was made aware that we had a discount app. But still managed to give me a bill for the full amount, ok it was put right but that is not the point.
Full price was £70+ for mass produced food, desserts are over priced and bought in or so simple my grandson who happens to be 4 could have made them.
Lovely fresh food and good attentive service. Just not quite enough on the plate though what was there was colourful and nutritious.
Have been here several times before and was OK , but this time was awful, not sure if they have changed their chef, the food was really bad. The steak was so tough I could hardly cut it even with a steak knife, I couldn't eat it in the end it was so bad. The Chips were disgusting, couldn't eat those either, my friend opted for a salad, but they had no dressing ? (what a chef that can't make a salad dressing).
Won't be going back in a hurry I'm afraid
Despite the online menu suggesting there were various options for coeliacs, the printed allergen menu in the restaurant made it clear it was no place for anyone avoiding gluten.
It is false advertising for Giraffe’s online menu to claim it caters for coeliacs just to entice customers through the door.
Had 241 lunchtime meals so very good value. Burgers were really good and kids meal were good value for money. It was half term so it was very busy but service still good.
Service was faultless and food was good especially the vegan chocolate and cocnut torte!
A lovely meal had by myself and my friend for her birthday. Delicious food as always, prompt service from the off and topped off with a 2 for 1 discount. A great evening
