Wonderful setting with a really well-designed layout and atmosphere. Great food as well.
Fantastic, memorable. Highly recommend for dates and friends dinners. My friend and I got seated in this magical nook in the back covered garden, and the waitress recommended a social — truffle pasta — the whole experience was wonderful.
Hostess would wander around restaurant not allowing you to make eye contact. Waitress behaved and spoke inappropriatly and was rude to us. She caused the table next to us to storm off without paying. Gnocco used to be a nice place to eat casual Italian fare but there are too many other places to patron in the neighborhood to put up with really inadequate service. Don't bother.
Dear Maite, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We are extremely sorry to hear about your experience. We aim to maintain the highest standards of service, but clearly that's not what happened last Saturday night, it was unacceptable. The waitress is been fired already because we were able to see the scene that night. We truly hope that you come back and give us another opportunity to reach your expectations! Gnocco
It was such a nice pleasant surprise. We loved the ambience and were surprised by how good all the food was. The service; all the servers could not have been nicer. We will def be back! Loved!!
Been going here for years, very nice crew of people- went this weekend- excellent service, excellent hostess, obviously the owner or manager was hands on and also very friendly. Got the octopus app that everyone raves about- did not enjoy in both taste and presentation. Great wine recommendation from waiter. Food was good. Food was not great or different, but reliable. We got the salmon, tagliatelle, and Gnocchi- it was good. Sat in garden, always nice because the front is usually too bright. The server is what made this place great- we were well taken care of for sure. If you are looking for AMAZING food, this isn't the place but this is comfort for sure.
Best East Village value for variety of eaters: gluten free options, seafood and meat, tasty appetizers/pastas and full entrees. Even tasty cocktails or non- alcoholic options! You’re sure to see dates, family dining or special groups here. (people on a pizza tour wore izzy hats!)
This place never disappoints. Service awesome as usual.
A Little piece of Italy in New York!! Very very good italian appreciate, and here you can eat REAL ITALIAN PASTA. Very good job guys!
My friend and I ate at Gnocco the other night. The food was wonderful. We had a beet salad that was more than enough for two people. The octopus carpaccio was delicious. My friend had the Spaghetti with shrimp, clams and basil pesto. She said it was to die for. I had the salmon special with shrimp. I could not even finish it. The dessert tasting menu is absolutely sinful. The only negative was the waitress. We had to ask for bread and ice numerous times before she remembered to bring them. Hopefully in the future the service will be better.
A true athentic neighborhood Italian experience. The food was fantastic! Best dinner we had our whole trip to NY. Octupus and the pizza are above par! The staff made us feel like family and we had a blast!
I just love this restaurant. The food is always solidly great and the service is friendly. On a recent visit, one of our dishes was subpar, not what I expect from the restaurant. I mentioned it, and they really made things right. I appreciated that they took pride in their service.
The food was very tasty. Meat, salads, pasta all looked very good. The dessert selection was not that appealing.
Great food and amazing service! Staff is super friendly and the food never disappoints
My friends and I enjoyed the ambiance of the place and we liked the burratta appetizer. The pizza was good but watery in the middle and not as crispy as we all would’ve liked. Prices were typical of NYC. There was a credit card fee.
Great food and attentive waitstaff. Would definitely recommend!
Had a great early dinner. The cold cuts were more than few and good in the Gnocco starter but saved some space to enjoy their pizza. Happy I visited, also really good service and nice spot in the covered garden.
The gnocchi were delicious, and the pizza was even better
Great! Good quality of food! Great service, nice environment!
I brought an Italian friend to Gnocco to ask his opinion of this restaurant. - We started with the restaurant's namesake 'gnocco' dish (fried gnocchi and a selection of excellent salamis and cured meats), which we shared with a dish of poerk, veal and beef meatballs in a rich tomato sauce. For main courses we had the tagliata (served rare, as requested), and the most tender, succulent 'maialino al latte' I have ever eaten. The meat fell off the bone at the touch of a fork. It was served with sauted spinach. - My Italian friend commented on the quality of the salamis and cured meats and also of his tagliata. - The Rosso da Montalcino wine was excellent value for a wine of its quality. I have been very impressed with the food during both of my visits to Gnocco.
Overpriced for below average food
I used to love this restaurant, but not sure I will return now. The waiter seemed annoyed with us and my friend and I got the Branzino. It was mostly potatoes with a small piece of fish on top. Left kind of hungry. Also, we went there for the garden in back only to find that it has a roof on it. So, not really a garden. Restaurant has a nice vibe and maybe ok if you get the pizza, but not a fine dining experience.
Cute little place with great food! Reasonably priced too
This little place has potential. We went on Father’s Day and the place was not crowded. It took awhile before someone came over for drink orders. Food took a long time to come out and they forgot an order and brought out double of another order. Even got a drink wrong.
On the good side, the food was flavorful with normal sized portions.
Very warm and friendly atmosphere, casual and cozy but festive. We loved dining in their semi-outdoor patio. The food was fantastic! It's rare for our family to all love a restaurant but we all did and we felt that there was an abundance of great choices on the menu. Great iced coffee at brunch!
Loved everything about this neighborhood gem. Will be returning soon.
The pizza was delicious, our server was very knowledgeable of food items. Service was a bit slow, I think our server was the only one working. There was a lot of little flies flying around which was distracting when trying to enjoy your food. Other than that, tasty food
We had a slight problem with being overcharged for our bottle of wine, but it was immediately corrected. The food was very good.....nice size portions. Our waitress, Margarita, was terrific. Very professional and attentive.
Food was amazing, staff was so friendly and welcoming. We come back every time we are in NYC.
Used to come here all the time when my parents were in town visiting, the owner was always really friendly. Went on Friday for the first time in a year or so to find it turned into a before club restaurant for underage kids. Really loud and very busy, not the nice Italian restaurant I loved. Service was terrible they asked if we wanted the check before we even got our entrees which took about an hour to come. Will definitely not be back unfortunately
Great food, great service and a lovely casual setting.
Great service and food!
Met a friend here for dinner. They had great service, food was good. They accommodated my child’s stroller and made me feel comfortable eating there with an infant.
I would recommend this place.
Limited options, it was quite hot, poor services and way over priced.
Hi Kamini, We apologize that our service did not satisfy your expectations. We set a high standard for ourselves and are, in other hand we would like to clarafy the following points: 1) In regards to the limited options: Besides our Brunch Menu (32 options), we also serve our Dinner Menu (67 options) and Specials of the Day. In regards to our prices: We offer to our customers a Brunch Special $21,95 that includes: a main course, a cocktail and coffee.
Finalmente ho trovato anche nella grande mela un locale dove poter mangiare lo gnocco fritto, piatto che adoro, unica cosa accompagnerei lo gnocco oltre che con i salumi anche con qualche formaggio
Always a good experience and a great meal...
Incredibile authentic Italian food! This is a gem in the heart of East Village! Fresh ingredients, great thin pizza and amazing service!!
This is the place to be! Prices spot on! We will definitely go back!!
Great food and such pleasant service. I will definitely come back.
Great place for paper-thin pizza and quality pasta dishes. Is a tad hot in the restaurant due to the pizza oven being next to the dining area. Overall excellent experience.
Food is delicious; but unfortunately some of the worst service I've ever encountered, and I worked in the hospitality industry for years.
We went to celebrate my sister's birthday and decided to order a handful of appetizers, salad, and pasta to share. We knew it was going to be an interesting evening when our server walked away from our table multiple times in the middle of a drink order. You had to try and shout "wait, and he'd like a beer" as the server had left after only getting 1 drink order.
For some strange reason they didn't stagger anything we order. The pasta came out first and the antipasti came out last (doesn't that defeat the purpose). Everything came out in a very rushed manner. The staff tried to hurry everything on our plates and were annoyed when we weren't done with a plate yet on the table. We're talking less than 5 minutes to sit and enjoy the plates they had brought out. Finally, my mom spoke up to my server and said please slow down and let us enjoy the food, it's delicious but we're feeling very rushed. She was stern, but not out of line. From then on the server actually ignored my mother and would only go to the other side of the table to ask if we were ready for the next plates. So strange, and rude!
At the end of the meal, there was no asking about dessert or celebratory anything for my sister. He dropped off the (extremely expensive) check without so much as a well-wish. Now we didn't ask to speak to a manager about the terrible service, ask for anything to be comped, nothing. When the server came back to get the check, my mom very nicely said the food was delicious, but was there an issue with the kitchen...we felt very rushed like we were tourists you were trying to get out the door...our appetizers came last, and everyone who came to our table seemed annoyed. The server had the gall to say I'm sorry if you feel that way, but you shouldn't have yelled at me and continued to berate my mom for asking him to slow down the food earlier
Food was absolutely fresh and delicious. My table had the lamb chops, rigatoni with broccoli rabe and Tagliatelle in Bolognese. Service was quick and friendly and the menu is a little electronic tablet you effortlessly swipe to read and see beautiful pictures of their selections. Definitely going again!
