Gold Notting Hill
The food was great but it was very loud in the restaurant and slightly difficult to get the attention of the waiter that we were asigned to.
Loved it! Delicious food, fantastic venue...will be back x
The eclectic food at Gold was fantastic - the artichokes and charred lettuce in particular were table favourites. The portions were generous and the English Sparkling Wine we tried went very well with everything. The restaurant is quite dark and there was more than one table using phone lights to see menus but overall the ambience was wonderful, and the foliage enhanced the mood rather than being overwhelmingly jungle-like. The only bad dish was the Rum Baba dessert, but it was instantly taken off our bill by a wonderful manager who was attentive to all the customers and was delightful. We would go back and would be happy to recommend Gold as a great place for dinner with friends.
Very good and different - we ordered far too much but that was our fault not the staff who advised us not to order too much
Very lively place on a Saturday afternoon, food was very good, service very friendly but food was slow to arrive and we had to ask 3 times for the drinks, before we got them, bar must be understaffed or just overwhelmed.
Great local restaurant with delicious sharing plates. Some more unusual dishes which I enjoyed. A good wine list. We went mid week and it was very busy. They have 2 seatings. I found the background music in the main restaurant fairly loud making it not so comfortable for catching up with friends.
The food was good but not exceptionally tasty. I think the prices are pretty pricey for what you get.
The food was served very quickly and we didn’t have time to have breaks between dishes.
After the hype I was a bit disappointed but perhaps because I had a table downstairs at the back which was freezing cold (I had to borrow someone’s coat) and very noisy. Food was fine but nothing incredible and overall I found it pretty uncomfortable. Apparently upstairs much better and the bar area was nice.
Great food and great service. Have recommended to many friends
Lovely restaurant however very disappointed at lack of vegan options- especially as we booked 2 months in advance with this requirement!
Outstanding as always. The only negative was that they didnt have Breton rosé on the wine list. Make it happen Alex!
It is a lovely spot in Portobello Road. It has a chic and energetic atmosphere. The foods are absolutely delicious. wood roasted aubergine was amazing. We also had a burrata on toast. It was delicious as well. However the steak is a bit tough.
My favourite restaurant - food incredible, service unbelievable and atmosphere just right. Reminds me a lot of Gjelina in LA.
Food was amazing! However service was slow as they were so busy
loved it!!! fabulous friendly waitress too! Food was delicious.
Absolutely loved Gold! We went to celebrate my husband’s birthday on Saturday evening. The staff were great, very accommodating and extremely helpful, after our meal they even found us a table in front of the fire upstairs to continue celebrating. Can’t wait to go back - super spot!
Excellent Friday evening. Lively, friendly crowd, great food, really good service - staff were all excellent. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
I've been going to Gold almost every other week since July. The venue is beautiful and there's such a good vibe there. I would say however, that the standard of the food has fallen significantly recently. I believe this is due to increased demand, as it's always full and difficult to get a restaurant booking, but at the prices I think this is unacceptable. I will continue to recommend as a lovely spot for a drink, but really hope the standard of food improves in short order.
A nice and cozy place but too noisy and too dark. We can hardly see each other and need to have a flashlight to read the menu. The food is tasty and service very good.
The service was appalling and ruined the experience. The waitress was not friendly, took a long time to clear the table, when we asked for desert menu she also took her time, again then for the bill. The food was tasty overall and the decor and ambience beautiful. Sadly they don't cater very well or provide flex-ability around intolerance or allergies - making it hard to find suitable dishes.
We really liked Gold however they were having some issues with the fire upstairs so we were either smoked out or cold because the window was open.
The food was delicious and the menu quite extensive, we were told by the waiter to order 6 plates between 2 of us and not that i'm complaining about portions sizes but they were way too big. They should have been the half the size and that would have been perfect.
Otherwise it was a really cool restaurant and would definitely go back
Excellent evening, great food and the Verbena Vesper topped it right of!
Too cool for school.
Fantastic food but disappointingly slow and inattentive service. Too loud even outside of the bar section
Great food , location spot on and the service was impeccable. Alex our waitress was extremely friendly and well knowledgeable about the food . She explained the menu accurately and offered guidance throughout the menu. A must place to try ! Well done ..
Tasty food, came on cold plates and mains and vegs arrived at different times. Had to ask 3 times for coffee order. Waitress friendly but not trained. Receptionist addressed me as ‘love’ on phone. Struggled to get my coat when leaving....this could so easily be a great restaurant with training and sharpening of kitchen service.
Unbelievable food, great service and amazing ambience.
Amazing interiors and incredible food! Notting Hill hot spot!
This is the restaurant Notting Hill has been waiting for, a place not too crammed, with a good vibe and excellent food at reasonable prices.
it was my wife and I first anniversary I wanted .to book somewhere special and your restaurant exceeded my expectations my wife particularly liked your wood burner which we sat in front of after our meal it was the perfect end to a perfect evening
thank you to all your staff for making this a memorable occasion
very generous portions with sophisticated touches.
Great, can't wait to go back. Food and atmosphere were brilliant on a Sunday evening.
Amazing atmosphere, great food, lovely crew
Very loud with poor acoustics. Super uncomfortable seating with tables pushed super close together - you end up rubbing up against all your fellow diners trying to get to your seat. Food was good, a menu that is very much of the moment - seasonal, veggie based, light on meat options. Don’t go on a busy day. Vibe and ambiance probably better when it’s quiet.
Service a bit slow but food was excellent.
A great culinary experience. Friendly staff who were happy to make suggestions and recommendations. For our family to reduce the number of main plates was suggested as the sharing plates would be enough. Since we had plenty and didn't waste, we much appreciated this help.
Can't wait to go back.
Fantastic! Great service with even better food. Loved it and will definitely be going back.
Strange entrance. Needs some reconfiguring as it gets horribly congested which isn’t pleasant for diners/drinkers or staff. (It’s my third time dining - and it’s always been the same). Also, the tables are too close together downstairs in the restaurant, a marker of a greedy restaurateur.
That said, the Maitre’d(s) and the table service is excellent, as would be the the ambience if it wasn’t so crowded.
Then there is the food.
It’s an exciting menu jam packed with options for every discerning foodie - be they veggie/pescatarian or meat eaters. Go heavy on veg, and order a couple of mains if your 4 people. Save room, it’s a sharing menu so you can always order more if you’re still hungry. Portion sizes are very decent. Prices also fair (for the area). Wine list varied and good.
Actually like this place more than the review might suggest, just need to sort out the feeling of being in a night club squeezed up close to folk you don’t know, and then I’d give it 5 stars.
*sensational people watching to be had.
Ona Sunday night it feels a bit off the beaten track, especially as quite far from public transport. The food was lovely but the service pretty hit and miss although the waiter was nice- he forgot dishes and brought ones we didn’t order.
Fantastic food, Amazing ambience and great service. Our waitress Alex was excellent. Much needed addition to the NH neighbourhood. Only a couple of things: loos were not very nice; very difficult to get served at the bar downstairs.
