    The service was excellent, all the staff were very welcoming. The menu was varied and the food was very tasty and presented well. The portions were not huge. Will definitely dine here again.

    Overall it was ok. However the beef was undercooked, not raw, difficult to cut and chewy. Rest of the food was fine.

    Not sure if this is a one off as we usually love the Golden Cock for food but, I have to say, it wasn’t up to it’s usual standards today. My husbands pie was lovely but I ordered the roast beef dinner and the meat was so tough and rubbery, I couldn’t eat it. The table was cleared by the waitress without her asking if there was an issue with my food, she didn’t seem to care that my plate was still full. The place seemed empty which is not how we usually see it at 3pm. Really hoping this is just a blip for them and not a sign of the times.

    we had a very warm welcome shown straight to our table drinks order taken promptly time was given for our food order we ordered and didnt have to wait too long my friend and myselfhad the tikka masala it was delicious and tasty and not too hot as my friend doesnt like it too hot great portion sizes my sister had the pasta she loved it 2 chicken breasts again great flavour and portion size throughout the evening the staff were very attentative and very pleasant a lovely evening all round

    The lunchtime specials, a drink and main course for £12 and a hot drink and mini pudding for£5 are fantastic value. Beautifully presented and delicious. The staff are outstanding. Courteous, friendly and helpful.

    We really enjoyed our meal. The 2 course for £17 was great value. Service was efficient, friendly and not obtrusive. Nice ambience in the restaurant. Will definitely return. Thank you.

    We've been back to this lovely place several times now and it never fails to disappoint. the food is excellent and the staff are efficient and very friendly and helpful. the disabled facilities are also good as we often bring my father who is in a wheelchair. Would not hestitate to recommend the golden cock.
